Which means he is ahead of a guy who is injured and not eligible to practice.
Isn't it kind of funny that so many here despise the Judge regime and how inept it was but take what his offensive line coach said about Peart as gospel.

Even Schoen was referring to Peart as a 4th OT almost immediately after becoming GM.
Quote:
Schoen will outline specific criteria for positions and critical factors he’ll be looking for in all prospects. He also said he introduced a “vision box” to scouting reports in Buffalo.
“In the vision box, you tell me how that player compares to anybody on our roster,” Schoen said. “So don’t just tell me he’s a fourth tackle. That doesn’t mean anything. So is he a fourth tackle that makes the team, is he a fourth tackle that beats out (Matt) Peart? Compare it to our roster.”
Not get a roster exemption, he has to make the team or practice squad or hes gone.
I dont think ANYONE expected him to make the team but practice squad....hell yes. He is the kind of player the PS was made for. He needs to learn the game and, with no "minor league" the PS is the place to do that.
And we need tackles!!

Does he get a free spot on the roster that doesn't count against the regular roster limit? Would be nice to develop him for a year.
The OL coach was very positive about him. Pretty incredible to be in a camp and he has had virtually no football contact.
Full year in the weight room with some experience they may have something. The size, character, intelligence are already present. Let's hope.
His best chance is probably the Practice Squad.
The NBA and MLB finds talent everywhere on the planet. It's good that the NFL is starting to cast that type of net...

I believe he has some form of a roster exemption
does anyone have a definitive answer?
we know he needs a yr, heck, maybe 2
I disagree. Even if he proves to be a capable backup, that still counts as a discovery to me, given where he came from and his background.

This. Even quality backup offensive linemen aren't easy to find.
