1:10 pm EST start at Citi Field
Mets have won the season series against the Reds already (4-1). Today is the last game of the series as well as the season against the Redlegs. Tomorrow's an off-day. Hopefully Taijuan Walker responds positively to his previous start.

Great to see Taijuan respond like he did in the Top of the 1st.

Yeah, last thing we need is another end of season swoon from him. Hopefully, he gets back on track here.
I know he didn't play yesterday but I think Monday and today he was hit to lead off the game and came around to score.
What are the Mets' bullpen options/scenarios today for the following:
(A) If Walker goes 6 innings and the game is a blowout?
and
(B) If Walker goes 6 innings and the game is close?

Yes sir

Bassitt and Carrasco went deep, so bullpen is rested. I would look for Walker to pitch only about 6 today. Some bullpen guys are likely to need to get some work in, and Walker doesn't need to be going deep into games this late in the season.

I expect (A), as this pitcher isn't doing much. Williams hasn't pitched since Saturday. Medina I don't think has pitched since he was called up. Givens has pitched .1 innings since Saturday. Off day tomorrow. Good time to give Walker a "relaxing" 6 innings, get some other guys some work, and keep Walker fresh. He was not good down the stretch last year, as he had the huge innings increase.
McCann's might have been...
Nonetheless, this got me thinking of 2 things:
1) Does Lindor have a shot at also breaking Mets RBI record?
Yes.. on pace for about 117.. so if he catches a little streak its possible he and Pete could both break it..
2) What is the MLB record for most RBIs by teammates? Do the y have a shot?
At current pace it seems Lindor/Pete will be around such a record for the Mets....but no way for MLB record. I am not able to find what the record is, but in about 5 mins I found a season where Manny had 165 and Robbie Alomar had 120!!
Was looking ahead and right now schedules show the Braves pitching Strider Sunday vs Marlins. I cant believe they would do that and have him miss the Mets series

Lindor has almost no shot at breaking the Mets RBI record. Piazza had 124, Lindor would need 43 rbi over the final 51 games of the season.
Ranger Suarez is an above average lefty starter for the Phillies. I wouldn't be "scared" of any P but yes he's a good MLB P
A lefty who had a 1.36 ERA last year in over 100 innings. He's the real deal.
Mets would be lucky to win! Just like Naquin got lucky hitting that homer!
I don't know who compared the Mets pickups to the Braves last year, but it was a very good comparison. Vogelbach, Ruf, and Naquin are all unheralded players that have greatly improved the depth of the Mets lineup
Philly has been playing awesome ball, will be a tough series.
0 runs
2 hits
1 SO
0 BB
Don't forget Jankowski. Naquin replaced Jankowski, Ruf replaced Davis, and Vogelbach replaced Dom

I wish we still had Zack Wheeler on this team. Imagine him as our 3rd starter? God damned Wilponzis.

this is where the mets approach will be huge. We will hopefully be hitting the phils bullpen in the 5/6 and they will hit ours in the 6/7 (or later!).

+1. I feel exactly the same way. I think about this frequently re Wilpons.

The whole Stroman/Wheeler thing pissed me off to no end. I had far more of an issue with that than the Diaz trade.
Wheeler wanted to re-sign with the Mets. So, instead, they trade SWR and Kay for Stroman to keep him instead of Wheeler. Wheeler goes on to be a Cy Young candidate for a main rival. Stroman goes on to be a colossal douchebag

Still need to recognize that Jose did the 81 from leadoff spot with pitcher hitting in front, so 81 was still VERY impressive

Yeah Dan I know the record was 124... he's on pace for 116/117... that's 7-8 RBIs off pace.. stranger things have happened
He had 28 RBI in 29 May games, has 11 RBI in 11 August games..

+1. I feel the same.
Very similar to when Sandy gave a crazy disingenuous press conference mocking Jose when he signed with Miami for a very reasonable deal
It must have been Brodie Van Wilder speaking on Jeffie Boy's behalf Dan. Such a sickening time that was for us as a fan base. Especially seeing Wheeler on the Phils. Just as gross as seeing Lenny and Roger pitching for them back in the day.

insinuating the Phillies "overpaid" Wheeler was unbelievably low-class, especially for an ex agent talking about somebody else's client. I half wonder if that came from Jeff. I ask that because Steve Phillips admitted the 24+1 stuff about A-Rod was just BS, and he knew the Wilpons weren't paying A-Rod anywhere near 25 per season.

Nelson Doubleday warned everybody about Jeff. He was right lol
