Do the math - in his fifth year with Yanks he has missed 40 percent of the scheduled games. But he still looks good in the gym . A bodybuilder that occasionally plays baseball .
Also - getting sick of watching Gleyber chase pitches. No discipline at plate at all. He never walks, has limited range, hits .250 . He is Horace Clark with more power and fewer SB...lol
I just saw Braves for the second time this season brought up a player who started the year at high A. First it was their starting CF Michael Harris now Vaughn Grissom will play 2b.

I would say for the most part I agree, especially on Stanton, people fall in love with the lasers he may hit when he is hot, but you don't hear from the same folks when he is hurt yet again...I have said a couple times I would like them to move on from Torres in the offseason. It sounds like a few teams called on Ca$hman at the deadline on Torres.
Call them back in the offseason, he is no Horace Clarke though, Horace was 'special'. LOL

Funny you should mention Horace. They could have used him last night. The one thing Horace Clarke did well was run the bases. Seriously, as disappointing as Glyber has been, he's no Horace Clark. Horace was a low 200's hitter with no power. In the field, not only was he butcher, he'd misplay at the worst possible times often when the game was on the line. Later on Mike Blowers at third base was the same kind of fielder.

Yes - Hoss could run the bases. And wore his helmet in the field for protection...lol...

Lets not forget power hitting Jerry Kenny [/quote]Another gold glove.
Bats are still having a rough go of it, but Nestor has been excellent so far. We're going to have a tough time pushing runs across with the bottom third of this lineup today. It's.. not great.
Gotta get into their bullpen and try to do damage there. Not getting much of anything against Ray.

Fan graphs shows a neg offensive war and a postive def war fyi

fangraphs shmangraphs. This is the problem with these derived statistics, especially when applied to players from decades ago.
I watched him play for years. The problem with Horace Clarke wasn't that he made errors or threw balls away. The problem with Horace is that he was slow to react on ground balls that he didn't get to and was slow to get the ball out of his glove and throw it. A lot of ground balls went for base hits that a better second baseman would have fielded. Although I can't prove it, it seemed to me he saved his worst fielding for when the game was on the line. We speak of players like Derek Jeter as someone who would rise to the occasion in the biggest situations. Horace Clarke was just the opposite. The Yankees suffered with many mediocre players during that dark period from 1965 to 1974, but there is a reason that era is referred to as "The Horace Clarke Era".

Before my time but you are an eye witness not fangraphs !
Cash thought he could pinch pennies, save service time, etc. because the team was doing so well. But guess what, we need some of those guys in the bigs now and to DFA people on the roster. Enough.
The Yankees playoff wart timely hitting with RISP rearing its ugly head.
It will get worse in the playoffs when they face good pitching everyday.
How does Cashman get away with the same shit over the past 5 years???
Roster construction a real issue for a long time now
Injuries no excuse

If they don’t make the WS (and right now I don’t think they will), I think it’s finally time to move on from Cashman.
This is pretty bad stuff. The pitchers simply do not hold leads. Almost every single time we've gotten one lately, the starter or relievers have promptly returned the favor in the same inning (or top half of the following one)
Can't just keep playing shit baseball like this and expect a switch to flip. Has to change.
Really wasted an absolute gem from Nestor. Damn shame.

I don’t recall a start this year where he was throwing this well. Damn shame indeed.
Going in the wrong direction.

1-0 again maybe. This offense has been shit on this trip
Ruocco does not hold back calling out umpires.
This offspeed shit is absolutely killing them.
Pen pitched great last night.

Higgy sucks. Trevino must play every game come playoffs

times is Higgy going to call an offspeed pitch that lands in the stands....losing 4-3

Trevino does it too. You cannot feed fastballs that the batter cannot catch up to, and then go offspeed to speed up the bat.

Yea maybe the pitchers should think about not throwing the off speed over the plate. You think

That, too. But how about not trying to be cute and throw the FB that the guy cannot hit. Too many times this year.

Yes. He is on 60 day IL, but he was pissed because I think he had started to throw.
So September he should be back. They are innings saving with him.
3-2..
