what's the correlation between preseason and regular season wins? Definitely not a 1.0 or very close.
I agree and believe you never as good as you show during preseason and never as bad. What I want to see is consistent play as the preseason moves along on both sides of the ball and for this team to have at least one win.
None of those career touches are behind this offensive line, with this playbook. That matters. Functional running games rely on practice reps and OL understanding both the blocking scheme on paper and the RBs tendencies and instincts. That is developed by playing together in live action.
This doesn't address that you can't convince me that Barkley knows what he's doing in pass protection. The results aren't convincing.
I dont think they're ready to win either, but starting the season without taking advantage of time to prepare sure didn't work last year either. Why expect different now?
I never brought up pass blocking. While I agree Barkley could be a better pass blocker, he's paid to run, catch and score TDs.
We just see this differently. I would rather not risk SB getting hurt in a meaningless game where a defender(s) - desperate to make the team - takes him out with a low hit.
Those situations are much less likely in practice and controlled scrimmages.

It is a tough call, but you need Barkley to have the reps to trust that he can make cuts safely at game speed. That can't be simulated in practice.
to anyone who thinks we're going to learn anything about Jones from one to two series in the first preseason game. And that's true whether he throws two gruesome INTs or leads two brilliant TD drives.

WR Kadarius Toney, who appeared to tweak his leg/knee, in Tuesday’s practice won’t play tonight, per source. Toney and the rest of the injured players were left in New Jersey to rehab.

What's the over/under on the number of games Toney is healthy for... I say 11.5

Giants DE Leonard Williams won't play tonight in preseason opener vs. Patriots, per source.
Williams was banged up earlier this week and stayed inside Tuesday for treatment. He's among the group of players that did not make the trip to Foxboro.
This franchise has proven over these years of starters NOT playing that it hasnt worked for this team, no matter who the coach was
The Giants have looked terrible in September since this idea of sitting starters in preseason began. It hasnt worked
New schemes, starters need reps to get ready for the season
Yes. The Giants have looked terrible in September. Guess what? They've looked terrible in October and December too.
That may have less to do with who played and who didn't in the preseason and more to do with the fact that it's been one of the worst run/constructed franchises in the league and they have just plain sucked for going on 10 years (and that would have been the case even if the starters had gotten more time in the preseason games).
an eventual starter or serviceable lineman, what a catch that would be.
Bobby Johnson spoke about him recently.
He's now been in four padded practices. He's still learning and growing as a man, and as a player. Our best hope, this year anyway, is he can maintain the level of development and stay on the practice squad.
obviously knows the Pats very well having matched wits with BB for a few years now. I wonder if he's eager to apply that knowledge tonight and look for big plays to exploit...

legitimate hole, and Barkley blast through for 20 yards. I don't care if its against Brockton High in Mass, I just want to see it (its been so long).
Playing Barkley makes no sense.
If he’s going to get hurt, let it be in games that count.
If he gets off to a good start, but our record is poor, we need the opportunity to trade Barkley at the deadline.
We should give him a shot at kick offs and PRs just to see. : )

I normally use NFLBite/BuffStreams, but it seems like there were posts recently that said it had been taken down.
The NFL Bite website is active and it lists tonight's game.

I think you're pretty close ---- 4 games missed if we are lucky.

A Wan'dal breakout game would be sweet. Maybe see if Breida has what it takes OL dependent. Hopefully we see some decent play by T Taylor.
