@Mets 6th round pick @tystuart19 has been assigned to the FCL Mets #Mets
AAA TBD
AA TBD
A+ Askew
AAA
Alvarez 0-3, BB, 3 k's, passed ball (Francisco Alvarez now has more passed balls in Syracuse (5) in 19 games (18 starts) than James McCann/Tomas Nido have combined (3) over 103 games #Mets )
Vientos 1-3, BB
Baty 2-3, BB, K
Gore 1-4, 2 k's (far from a prospect but look for him to be added to the 40 man which would allow him to be eligible for the playoffs, a real weapon off the bench)
Peterson 2 innings 5 hits 4 runs 0 walks 1 k
AA
Young 1-2, HR, 2 BB, K (Kind of forgotten after his surprisingly hot start with Syracuse, @RumblePoniesBB 2b Wyatt Young is quietly having a nice season in AA. 97 wRC+, 10.9% BB rate, a little more pop than expected (19 extra base hits .120 ISO). He remains a potential big league utility player #Mets )
Mauricio 0-4, K
McIIwain 0-4
Nathan Lavender hasn't been quite as good as his 1.00 (yes 1.00) era would suggest (3.02 FIP) but he's also carrying a strong 12.75 K/9 (too many walks though, 5.25/9) #Mets
Hartwig 2 innings 2 hits 0 runs 0 walks 2 k's (he's been tremendous)
Nunez 2 innings 6 hits 2 runs 1 walk 5 k's (Dedniel Nunez 3.39 FIP, 12.86 K/9, solid first year back from TJ... will he be sniped a second time in the Rule 5 without ever throwing a big league pitch for @mets
? )
BK
Consuegra 2-5, K
Hamel 5 innings 3 hits 1 run 0 walks 4 k's (time to promote)
Lavender 2 innings 1 hit 0 runs 2 walks 2 k's (Nathan Lavender hasn't been quite as good as his 1.00 (yes 1.00) era would suggest (3.02 FIP) but he's also carrying a strong 12.75 K/9 (too many walks though, 5.25/9) #Mets
St. Lucie
ODLS 1-3,2B BB, SB, 2 k's (58 steals, he's now played 128 games in St. Lucie and is almost a year older than the league average player, time to give him a shot in BK)
Tilien 0-4
Gomez 2.2 innings 3 hits 2 runs 1 walk 2 k's
Love it. Very impressive so far.
I wonder if they're trying to teach the "one knee in the dirt" catching style in AAA ?? Sometimes the big, bulky catchers can't move for wild pitches / passed balls.
I'm not a fan of that one knee style. A low target is one thing....but one knee down is quite another matter.
First game he DH’ed he’s played SS the last 2. No current plays for him to play any OF this season but that could of course change

no 2B, correct?

Very interesting. Thanks
Have you bought a Jett jersey yet Dan?

You heard it hear first. As a lot of Mets fans are Jets fans, we will hear J-E-T-T, Jett Jett Jett chants if and when he makes the Mets
No Dykstra. Is he on bad terms with the Mets? I know he hates Darling, and has had his issue (who hasn't on here) but I couldn't come up with many more Mets I'd expect to see on here that are not.
Excited to see Pat Mahomes and Turk Wendell on the list, a couple of my favorite pitchers.
Probably could list a bunch of guys who are similarly absent, but John Olerud and Rey Ordonez come to mind if they want to recreate the greatest defensive infield of all time..
I would have liked to see Bobby Bo on there too since he was my childhood favorite but I get why he's not there
Lo Duca
Beltran
I bet Dickey could still throw a good knuckler

Every jersey/shirt I buy ends up being bad luck
Porzingis, Saquon Barkley, deGrom (before he got hurt), Lindor (before last season), I want a Diaz shirt bad but I don't want to ruin the season lol

Dykstra is on bad terms and he claims he's going to show up and have a "party" in the parking lot with Strawberry and Gooden (they have no suggested anything of the sort FWIW)
TBH... as much as I'd love to see Koo/Shinjo/Cespedes at Old Timer's Day, and how strongly I hope they can mend things with @carlosbeltran15
, of all @mets
players from my years watching... Rick Reed remains the most underrated/forgotten player
Good call
Good call
2nd this. And no David Wright or Koosman. Obviously health plays a role for the older players in not being able to attend
Its a really good list representing all of the eras, even the bad eras (Steve Henderson, Maz, Stearns, Skip Lockwood, early 60s guys)
No Joel Youngblood, Doug Flynn, Hubie Brooks, Craig Swan, Pete Falcone

Turk Wendell is a Quinnipiac alum (my alma mater) he was gone just before I got there, but still a legend (especially with the baseball players).

For those who are curious: Yoenis Cespedes seems to have moved from a “yes” to a “TBD.” He is invited and they’re trying to work on logistics, according to a Mets official, so he still might be there.
Wait, which Bobby Jones? lol. I thought it was hilarious when the Mets had two Bobby Jones on the team both same time and both pitchers - even being different races and different handed pitchers.

A couple of Old Timers’ Day questions I will address here.
There were players uninvited - “fewer than five” according to a Mets official - because of vaccination status.
David Wright indicated in spring training he wouldn’t be attending because of his schedule.

Maybe the "no vaxx cant attend" rule was used to keep Dykstra out - would guess he isnt vaxxed

Start buying Braves' jerseys.
Why would former players need to be vaccinated to be part of an old timer's day.
they probably did make it up to keep nails out.

PJ,
The Yankees said the same regarding theirs. They said they weren't going to play a game at all because of it.
Mariano Rivera was not in attendance because of a scheduling conflict. Several other former Yankees would not have been allowed on the field because they are unvaccinated.
I just meant, I don't think it's aimed at Dykstra because the Yankees essentially claimed the same issue. I know the league doesn't want current players interacting with non-vaccinated ex-players but not sure why that would happen at Old Timer's Day, just tell them they can't be around the players unless they mask up or something.

have the policy - it makes zero sense.

that's stupid too - not based in any science, players leave the stadium and interact with all kinds of people.
the CDC has adjusted their guidance virtually indicating zero difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated people at this point.
From February
"A club source had told The Post that the Mets may withhold an invite to the 58-year-old Dykstra because of “various issues.” The former center fielder has dealt with numerous issues since retiring — including financial troubles, run-ins with the law and a very public feud with former teammate and current SNY analyst Ron Darling, who is expected to be at the Old-Timers’ Day. Dykstra has also been accused of making disparaging remarks, about women, blacks, and homosexuals.
"Judge Robert D. Kalish went even further than Darling did: he declared Lenny Dykstra to be “racist, misogynist, and anti-gay”, a “sexual predator” and a “drug-abuser”, a “thief” who has used steroids and blackmailed umpires and has been found guilty of “fraud, embezzlement, grand theft, and lewd conduct”.
Under US defamation law, for a statement to be considered defamatory it must be provably false and injurious – meaning that the individual’s reputation must be damaged by the claim.
But Judge Kalish made it perfectly clear that Dykstra “lacked such a reputation” to damage in the first place, and it is therefore impossible to defame or libel him."
I'd like to see Dykstra there. He had a role in '86 and is part of Mets history.
Kind of like how Pete Rose was at the Phillies celebration for the 1980 WS last week - not saying this old timer's day is exactly the same as that, but I'm not sure they polled the old timers on their vaccination statuses.
Reyes is going to be there, Dykstra could be too (who even knows his vaccine status).
"I went to Colorado because of the school system".
What a joke that was...

Exactly, but it was because of Hampton's departure that we got David wright.
Nothing this franchise does should have anything to do with Alderson

actually surprised they invited Backman given his open dislike of Alderson. I guess they will just stay away from each other.
