highlights what an incredible rookie season Ojulari had last year. When he gets back and grabs more of the defense's attention, Thibs play will improve.
From my amateur eye Neal played to his scouting report
He struggled at times to keep his feet moving and it caused him to lose engagement and his balance on passing plays. But he's an NFL rookie and only 21 years old. It looked like he was thinking too much and not playing fast enough - again a rookie playing his first ever pre season game, nothing to worry about IMO. I didn't expect him to play like an All Pro day one.
His scouting report also said he's got power, speed and is nasty in the run game. You could see some of that too. His run blocking - again to my untrained amateur eye - looks ahead of his pass blocking at this point. But if he plays like he did last in game 1 of the regular season compared to Nate Solder he'd be Art Shell.
I didn't watch Thibodeaux that much but he didn't stand out. I remember he had a pass rush that he tried to turn the corner but didn't get home. Again nothing to get excited about but nothing to worry about. Its pre season game 1 out of the way for both of them. They'll probably play more next week against better competition since the Pats didn't play their 1st team.
Neal showed some power in the run game, and got confused in pass pro versus stunts. He's got to learn to keep his feet moving and stay on them, as we was on the ground a few times not unlike at Bama.
Thibs drew a false start, and showed that he can find the ball. Pats actually mostly ran plays away from his side too.
They looked like rookies playing in August of their
Neals technique, plus of course he is switching sides. The OL coach said these two things are why he is a little off at times, but they are very encouraged. Sounds a lot like Thomas last season
Thibs- I didn't see him make one tackle. I did not see him make one QB pressure. He didn't stand out to me tonight.
Neal was completely off balance in different ways almost every play. Have gave up the sack. Should be good learning experience for him.

Neal struggled with balance at Bama too. Something to keep an eye on. Maybe they should have him take ballet classes next offseason?
Ha!

That’s exactly how I saw it.

The first preseason game means next to nothing.

They'll get better, and if we are fortunate will show some impact later in the season...
