I'm sorry, that was bullshit.
So you can choreograph a celebration (including a team celebration in the end zone), but you can't raise your hands in celebration after knocking a pass away (which other Giants did by the way and didn't get flagged)?
Someone mentioned that Robinson looked down while he did that.
Boo fucking hoo.
This is a joke.
Yep, exactly. No big deal...
33 was toasted on that drive, and much of the time he played as the WR ran by him and was 2 steps ahead by the time he turned to try to catch up.

Every preseason refs over call certain things the league wants to crack down on. Then when the regular season hits it’s no big deal.
Agreed. He’s a young player who is stepping up into a starting role. Better to make these type “mistakes” in the preseason and learn from them.
Robinson needs to learn to not give the refs opportunities to throw the flag in your direction. Savvy vets know how to get away with stuff.

And the officiating crew was moving in slow motion. I've seen better jobs by high school refs and I'm not joking.
Did you not watch NFL games last year? That was called all the time. And if the receiver had caught the ball, and stood right above a prone Robinson and did the same thing (and let's be honest, likely said something) it most definitely would have been called.
I'll never understand the need athletes have to, at the end of a play, embarrass a guy they just embarrassed by beating him. It is simply a "look at me moment". It's stupid and selfish, especially from a guy like Robinson, who has proven nothing and was getting torched last night. Go celebrate with your team.
The roughing the passer call on the Pats defender last night was equally absurd. Guy had a textbook tackle on Webb while Webb was simultaneously releasing the ball. In essence, the penalty was for a perfect tackle...
As others mentioned last night and today, the refs were really bad in the 1st half for both teams (I didnt watch the 2nd half)

And why is acting like a five year old just having fun? I remember when sports was supposed to teach sportsmanship, but I guess I'm just another grumpy old man.
Congratulations! You've uncovered a league-wide conspiracy.
Not many fans are aware of this but when the NFL refs get together for their meetings, they don their black, hooded robes and discuss which NFL owners are responsible for the rules they don't like.
The refs then all agree to get back at each NFL owner by excessively calling that specific penalty against that owner's team.
Either that or it was just a bad call.
Case in point is last night. IMO, it was not close to be worthy of a call. Even the NE announcers agreed. Unless of course the Giants player also said something, which we do not know.
I like the rule taking out all the BS between plays and just keep it to football, but it really puts refs in a bad spot and it will cost a team a game.
Also, not a fan of the excessive endzone stuff. But hey, it's a new era we live in and us older NFL'ers need to get used to it.
So no gray area: they call it over the slightest thing (like celebrating a good defended pass) or a full blown "Mother F'er" at the other player.
The really stupid thing is that its an ejection-worthy offense, akin to throwing a punch. Please.

That was pretty bad, lot of flags in that game, no surprise.
I couldn't take any more after the 3rd qtr., I bailed.
They absolutely stunk.

Just a point of fact, the NE announcers were wrong about a lot of stuff all night that they had to take back after seeing replays.
impromptu celebration after a big play, ok, but it has gotten out of control with the 'look at me, what a great play I just made'
it started with the U, and has gotten worse and worse, imo
and forget about the choregraphed nonsense, that is just plain stoopid
Taunting. - ( New Window )

They want defenders off to the side when taking a QB to the ground.
The Pats guy clearly had his helmet and full body weight pretty much belly to belly with Webb, and while I didn’t think he did, it can be looked at as driving the QB into the ground with his full body weight. I believe that’s what he was called for, and not the timing of the hit.
Getting flattened is accepted by players as part of the game. However, when it is followed by "Get up sissy" that might cause a fight and get players ejected which nobody wants.
