David Wilson interview on Sons of Saturday podcast.

DCGMan : 8/12/2022 4:12 pm
It's mostly childhood and VT related, but he does discuss his time with the Giants. Glad to hear David is still a free spirit.

16:35: Confirmed the legend he ran up an arch of VT's Cassell Coliseum (pic below).

I wondered for a while of what

could have happened with his career if he didn't have the neck problem that forced him to retirement early.

He was very quick and had moves IIRC.
There is no question that the kid was Uber talented

He was explosive and incredibly quick. Maybe like a Reggie Bush lite with a little
more power and a little less wiggle (and not the same receiver)
He was a good pick but I don’t recall if the neck issue was a pre-existing injury.

He was an excellent returner, but I remember his RB skills being weak in terms of instincts. He would run 100 mph right into the back of his lineman. If he didn’t get hurt I think he would have been like a gadget type RB that you try to get into space.
Every time I think of him ....

I remember how I used to envy the Eagles having LeSean "Shady" McCoy at running back, think to myself "wish we had one of those". Then we drafted David Wilson, and I thought my wish had come true.

Then he got hurt and came to realize the monumental FAILURE that our medical staff had accomplished. He had suffered a significant neck injury at Virginia Tech, and our evaluators MISSED it. It's still hard to forgive them.
Was that all in the same game vs the Saints?
gersh : 8/12/2022 6:59 pm : link
I didn’t remember that. Wow. He had a heck of a game.
He was a really good runner.

Quick, fast, elusive, and no wasted motion.

McCoy was a great player but such an unlikeable prick. Him, Deshaun, Vick, Dawkins... so many of the eagles players over the years I've HATED

Manny - what the fuck are you babbling about? Wilson never had an injury at Virginia Tech with his neck. He never even missed a college game!

He hurt himself initially against the Eagles in his second season and was placed on IR. They actually had two different doctor groups determine that he had spinal stenosis and would be at risk of significant damage in the future. They did spinal surgery in January of 2014 but there was still risk. He gave it a go in camp the next season and had a burner where he had numbness in his arms after a practice and he didn't play again.

Making shit up about injuries at VaTech is bad - even for a guy who lives in his own fucking world.

the guy who has created multiple dupes on this site.

Of course, no commentary from the clown about how Manny has held a grudge against the medical people for something they didn't even do!
Always nice to see you pop your head in,

take a few lumps, and then go back into your sad lurking mode.

Stop by anytime. The comic relief is always welcome...

Good kick returner, pretty bad running back
Welcome back, Fats ....

I'm not making this up. He did hurt his neck in college. I don't have a grudge against the medical staff; all I'm saying is it sure does hurt when it involves your first round pick.

Manny - show some proof that he hurt his neck in college. Any proof. You've held something against people who didn't do a damn thing that you are alleging! Yes - you are making this up.

I would hope that people who spend years lamenting things at least had a fucking clue what they were pissed about.
Come up with something here Manny

Wilson played in every game in college except for missing one in 2010, and then had his best college season in 2011. There is no indication I can find that he ever had an injury issue in college. He hurt his neck against the Eagles in 2013.
