to not play vientos. if they call up these guys it will go exactly the same way as blankenship and plummer and lee and all the other non-MLB'ers they've called up. vientos could do just as bad but why not try the guy with, you know, talent? even if there's only a .01% chance Vientos has an Alonso-like impact right away, isn't that better than guys who have a 0% chance?

+1. That makes sense to me too.

He strikes out too much and has no defensive position. They don't have a 3B who can handle the position defensively, so they'll probably use Guillorme at 3rd and call up a middle infielder

a) it was a tough catch so the LF didn't really have a chance to get in position - he had to get lucky to catch it with momentum in the right direction like he did.

b) marte is hard to double up with anything other than a perfect through.

Exactly. It wasn’t even that great of a throw. It was a bad call by the third base coach…which happens a lot.

especially when running full speed to make a difficult catch on a line drive (as opposed to lining up a shallow pop up).

vogelbach's ball had a .770 expected batting average btw, so it was not only a great throw but a great catch.

a) the LF was running in to catch the ball so he had ALL the momentum.

b) in no way was it a perfect throw. The ball was caught five feet off the plate in the other direction and was still out by a good margin.

It was a bad call all the way.

Yea I didnt respond right, I should have been more specific to base running and defensive stops.

He's the real deal when it comes to the bat though.
