Stanton still not ready to run the bases. So, again the Yankees are really not being terribly honest about an injury. Hopefully he's back soon.
German in Fenway isn't what ya want on a Friday night.
But, Eovaldi has been very bad lately and the Yankees need to capitalize.
Win a damn game.
The best is when he mixes up high/low and inside/outside
I saw a gif recently that someone posted in relation to the yankees and it was perfect - it was like.. three bars with sliders in each one and I think they were
"offense," "starting pitching," "bullpen"
The animation was such that when one or two bars were "on," the other one was off. Then when that one went on, another one went off.
It feels like aside from the first half of this year, that has been the case for the last 4-5 years. Pitch really well, don't hit. Score a bunch of runs, can't hold a lead. Low scoring game, bullpen blows it.
Ugh... Rizzo just laced one and got robbed. Can't catch a break right now. Locastro might have scored if that got past Hosmer.
Quote:
ball three to Judge was 6 inches outside and he says just misses...he does this a lot.

Yes, that is a hoot....
K
Inning basically over..no shot Torres gets a hit with his struggles
Yeah last time or time - IIRC.
Not sure what the conversations were or how close it got, but Torres as a centerpiece in a deal for Lopez + calling Peraza up to play 2B probably would have made this a better team.
That's almost hard to do.
A runner on 2nd with 0 out seven consecutive times... no runs.
Doesn’t look good

A joy to behold for some -- many, actually.
Almost all of Cashman's deadline pickups are just not getting it done from Benintendi to Trivino....
To perform like that against Eovaldi when he had a 7+ ERA in his past 5 starts and was in jams early on needing nearly 50 pitches to get through just 2 innings and then somehow letting him navigate through 6... just inexcusable.
Something has to change.

Boones worst manager in baseball
That would be a 2-7 road trip.
A Boston sweep capped off with an ESPN Sunday Night beat down would just put the cherry on top of this shit sundae.
It is just ridiculous at this point, this team wont win shit in the post season with Boone as manager
Should have traded Torres at the deadline, as usual Cashman holds onto a guy for too long. Good luck getting Lopez this offseason now.
Obviously I want a WS but the 2nd best outcome? Probably an ALDS loss so they finally move on from Cashman & Boone. Long overdue.
I would call up Peraza, Schmidt, and Marinaccio at minimum.
W/o Stanton and Carpenter this team is cooked. May still be b/c the bullpen is a mess. SP I'm actually confident in.

Right now it doesn’t matter who the manager is. You aren’t winning when you don’t have a bullpen that can hold a lead late in games. Most playoff games are close. You need a solid pen to win in October. Right now, this bullpen is atrocious.
We're back to zero situational hitting and a bullpen that isn't holding leads.
Stanton's bat is missed.
This team was finding every way to win the first few months, and now they're doing the opposite. I guess it's better for this to happen now than in September, but things probably won't just magically flip without some adjustments.
Holmes needs some lower leverage spots right now. Marinaccio absolutely has to be back up as soon as he's eligible.

I really don't understand why they won't call up Peraza. It feels like 80% of the lineup gives you nothing, what do you have to lose?
Btw, DJ deserves criticism for his hitting with RISP. His BA is .190
Judge, Carpenter, Trevino, IKF and Stanton hit well with RISP. Everyone else stinks.

Agree 100%. Torres has sucked since the all star break and Holmes should be used in the 6th if we’re up by 10.

The problem with Boone is that if you looked solely at the lineup, the 9th was better for Chapman than the 8th. But to be honest, this was the last straw for Clay Holmes. These losses are back breaking and he just gives away base runners with walks and HBPs. He can no longer pitch anything other than mop up until he gets his shit straight.
When you’re playing badly, you don’t get any luck. Rizzo’s laser is caught and Pham gets one through the IF in extras.
dismal stretch with no relief in sight.
Still a 10-game lead, but who really thinks that's safe anymore?
in the 9th, when Holmes walks Bogey, then goes 2-0 on Verdugo, get out there and talk to him then, don't wait until he walks the guy to talk to him...this is where Boone just doesn't have a feel for the game. It doesn't matter that Peralta cleaned up the mess that inning, get your ass out there and talk to him.
You know Holmes has been struggling big time, get out there!
First things first, remove Holmes, he is costing them games.
Glad Boone went to Effross in the 9th.
Chapman has looked so much better lately. I have a feeling he's going to be getting the next save opportunity when he's available (probably won't pitch tonight after b2b)
Hopefully a series win tonight can get these guys back on track.

All hail one IKF, it's a win.
