It was on during the Giants game last night but Bend, OR and Bonny Lake, WA were deadlocked in extras. Then this happened. 3rd base ump clearly calls foul ball, so the Bend players let up. WA player scores from first. Such a shame for it to end in this fashion.

Totally agree!
They absolutely must allow that team to move on. That's a real screw job.
The ump also seems to have screwed the call anyway. In addition to throwing his arms up,he should wave them foul and actually call it foul. He says nothing if it's fair. Terrible ump and terrible decision.

It doesnt matter if it was fair or foul, once the 3rd base umpire called it foul, the play is over
2) You'd think the home plate umpire wouldn't over-rule the 3rd base ump, who was in perfect position.
3) If the lead base runner tripped and fell down, and the defense somehow ended up throwing him out, surely the team at bat would have insisted that the foul ball call should stand.

It's akin to a basketball player throwing up a shot after the whistle or a football player picking up a ball after the whistle. The ympnthrowing his arms up and calling it foul is the same as a whistle; it ends the play. The kids in the field weren't stupid, lazy, or ignorant of the rules. They stopped playing on a dead ball.
Good job LL
Perhaps but once the ump signaled foul the kids rightly let up.

Even going to review, which, again, was out of line since the home plate umpire's call was irrelevant, there is no way that run should be allowed to score. At best, that runner should be awarded 2nd. But, in my book, it's a foul ball; keep playing.

If the first bounce was beyond the bag that's the 3B ump's call.
I guess there's some question as to whether the ball bounced just after contact and it was the 2nd bounce that landed just foul. If that's the case, it is the HP ump's call and he judged it fair as it was crossing over 3B. I really couldn't tell from the video if it bounced near home (HP ump would know, though).
Even in this case though, when U3 called it dead, play should have stopped.
Unfortunate.
