I would take Calitro. He will do whatever to make the team. Golladay gets no separation, runs bad routes, bad hands, poor attitude. The only thing Golladay has is his height. He also doesn't play special teams.
Never understood who the giants were bidding against on that contract. The ciny offered a 1 yr prove it deal and miami walked away early. I really want to know what the fuck the front office was smoking.

They did what the majority of giants fans wanted at the time. Hell, the guy led the nfl in wr td’s a short time ago. It was a stupid contract, but that’s how the last regime rolled. The majority of fans were excited about KG and the way the contract was structured. Easy to hate on it in hindsight.

This is basically true. Many posters wanted him strongly, even if the numbers were high.
That 2021 offseason was a comical time. The Giants had some cap room
but not enough to afford the spending spree that Gettleman went on.
And every time he signed someone that Spring, whether it was Leonard Williams, Jackson, Golladay, Rudolph (fill in the blank) the Defenders of the Faith went into party-time mode about what a great job DG was doing. That he was signing all the right players to lead us to the playoffs, expertly navigating the cap and structuring those contracts like a genius.
Another faction on BBI just loved the idea that he went spend-crazy and still got it to fit since it shut up all those that were suggesting we don't have the cap room to do these things. And of course we didn't, as the Giants had to restructure a ton of other bad contracts, making them worse, to afford this nonsense. And ultimately left Schoen in a weak position to address needs/holes when he took over the GM job less than a year later.
It can't be. Sure, Golladay is massively overpaid, and most likely won't be a Giant after this year, but we're stuck with him for this season, so just accept that and move on. He's not getting cut, he's not getting traded, and as long as he stays healthy and the coaching staff doesn't completely sour on him, he's going to play. While he's here, let's hope he can recapture some of the magic that got him to the Pro Bowl in 2019, but even if he does, the odds are he won't be a Giant in 2023.
Calitro is on his eleventh team in five years. My guess is he'll be on his twelfth next year. So, a 28 year old veteran who's appeared in 47 games with a handful of starts made some plays against a bunch of scrubs in a preseason game. Wow, he said sarcastically. If that means he's a "riser," then I'm the King of Ruritania.

remember?
What’s your pt Jimmy? That sometimes fans don’t really know about these things. I think we already knew that.
is that there are a lot of fans (and newspaper/online reporters) that scream "Do something! Anything! Get some decent players in here!"
Well, Gettleman thought that's what he was doing without looking at the ramifications of signing a guy known to be injured a lot (Golladay) and a guy that was done (Rudolph) to big money contracts. What I don't get is that I'm sure Gettleman confided in people in the organization (at least with the coaches) as to what he was going to do and he got the thumbs up from these guys. So, it was a team effort dumpster fire.
Golladay missed most games the year before Giants signed him. The 2 years before that he played all, or most games. Enough time on the field to tally over 1,000 yds each season. Year before that was his rookie year - a day 2 draft pick from a small program.
If a specific issue (over-weight, injury) cannot be pinpointed for Golladay problems, one should question whether he is misused by route scheme or whether this is a WR made by his QB (Stafford).
See Kenny G circa 2019. See how little separation, speed etc and how little difference it makes when the qb throwing the ball is not career backup material Kenny G 2019- no replacement level qb. - ( New Window )
They wanted a big time receiver for Jones and Golloday was that when healthy. What he brought to the table was that he could catch contested balls and that should work given Jones is not a very accurate passer. But Jones was coached only to throw to open receivers and Golloday gets no big separation. I think Golloday is now mailing it in
Looking like the worst signing in history, i agree. And I liked the signing at the time. Gettleman is in Matt Millen territory in terms of the worst signings ever. This brings me back to the Paul Dottino interview in December when he pathetically defended Gettleman, said criticism of his was unfair due to him having cancer and even advocating for a third year of Judge and DG. I realize he’s a team employee but good grief. And there are people on this forum who were/still drink the kool aid

I liked the KG signing @ the time, but in hindsight it was an awful signing. I think we were bidding against ourselves, though I remember Chicago being mentioned as a possible destination. Regardless, he's gone next offseason so whatever. I'm not losing sleep over it.
Lol

He’s ours for at least this year….I’m sorry to say.

The question is who is the better player? Golladay or Richie James.
And which one of these two should be playing more?

If there is a WR who is going to get 100 targets on the outside, who is more reliable?
If there is a WR who is going to get 100 targets on the outside, who is more reliable?
Conversely, a question of who's better between Crowder and Calitro.

James by a mile. Great pickup by Schoen.

As I said yesterday, I think fans need to listen to Wink talking about Crowder earlier this week.
