NFT: NFT—Treadmill advice

NYG Fangirl : 8/13/2022 5:07 pm
Hi BBI,

I’m looking to buy a treadmill. Does anyone have a brand/model they would recommend? One to avoid? I was thinking about Nordic Track, Precor or Peloton tread (assuming the safety issues have been worked out). Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Second on Nordic Track. I'm no expert but my son is. He's clinic physiologist and CSCS. He spent 2 months reviewing and discussing treadmills with his peers and decided on the the NordicTrack 1750 for his own treadmill.
Power, take a good look at

Power requirements and where you are going to plug it in or you may end up constantly tripping your circuit.

They last forever and have a lifetime warranty on parts.
I was planning to buy a Peloton tread this weekend...

And then they raised the price $800 yesterday!!

The model they are selling right now is not the one with the safety issues. That's the Tread+ and they still have not started selling it yet..

I don't know whether I'm going to buy it now or not. The price increase really got me..

Agreed.
My wife has a peloton tread for about 5 months now

And we have had nothing but issues with it. Peloton extended our 30-day return pickup 3 separate times due to issues and had their technician come 3 times as well. He even stated he would not by one. They finally replaced the base and most problems have been gone. The one issue my wife has is the stability of the tread. We had it on carpet and the screen would vibrate something crazy I put a board and mat under it which helped but didn’t completely get rid of the problem.

The big thing with them is the base is narrow unlike NordicTrack, Sole, Matrix which makes it less stable. Another issue we have found with the peloton is it weights a lot and not easy to move around. It does not fold closed like many other brands and at 300lbs plus not easy to move if needed. Also like many treads many programs raise and lower with programs as well as speed. Peloton does not it is all manual which can be a pain in the butt during workouts. If we had to do it all again, we would have gone with Matrix or NordicTrack.

Peloton is basically an app service now as of this year they don’t make any of there products and continue to raise prices. My wife loves some of the workouts but you can download the same app on your smart tv and buy a better product.
We had a Sole for 15 years and loved it but its time came.
