#LFGM!

deGrom is the best pitcher in baseball when he's healthy. He's so fucking good. I hope the Mets reup him this offseason.
Very Important Game To Win, since we face Wheeler tomorrow,
Dennis : 8/13/2022 7:10 pm : link
...And we lost yesterday.
We need to win at least one of the three games, and preferably the next two.
Here's a link to tonight's game:

7:10 PM EST start

Buck's got McNeil in the lineup tonight, lacerated finger and all.

Enjoy :-)

Need this one tonight

Give deGrom some run support
Oh McNeil,
Dennis : 8/13/2022 7:16 pm : link
Was that your finger?
Was Mc Neil's throw off because of the hard slide or the thumb?
Optimus-NY : 8/13/2022 7:17 pm : link
Could anyone tell?
deGrominator gave up a hit!
Optimus-NY : 8/13/2022 7:20 pm : link

If Lindor and Alonso hit, we win.

I believe Pete was hitless last night, and we only scored 1 run. I don't know the precise correlation between Pete's hitting and Mets winning, but I bet it's a high positive correlation. Anyone have exact figures?
The guy on thefar right should still be with us...

if you added up their RBIs it has to be an extremely high % of the total runs scored on the year. they are over 500 runs scored and their RBIs are approaching 200, so simple math is almost 40% of the offense from 2 players with roughly 20% of the at bats.

nothing complicated, just cheapness. short sighted cheapness too because i think they ended up paying stroman about $30ish million for mediocrity.

The Mets Announcers Are So Intelligent
Dennis : 8/13/2022 9:05 pm : link
It's a pleasure listening to them.

Ronny went to Yale or Harvard, and it's clear from references he makes that he reads, and that he uses hid mind for more than baseball

Keith is very cosmopolitan, lives in the city, and also makes references to going to cultural events. He is also a student of American history, and knows the civil War thoroughly.

And Gary has a wonderful vocabulary, and is clearly intelligent, and not just another jock, like so many other announcers are.

We are so lucky to have them, but the NY fan base is also very intelligent, and water has found it's mark in the congruence of this fan base and these
announcers.
Conversely, I’d love to see the stats on how many runs
CooperDash : 8/13/2022 9:06 pm : link

I'd say so. 2 Cy Youngs, Rookie of the year, 4 time All Star and generally considered the best pitcher in baseball for a long stretch. It wouldn't be unanimous, but I think he'd win it.
Let's go!!!

I don’t know the answer but I think that with how relatively small his overall body of work still is, the fact that it is a legitimate question shows how dominant he’s been.

He’s knocking on the door. Another Cy would do it. A World Series title in which he pitches throughout the postseason would probably do it.

That would be my concern also, how small his overall body of work is. I have no doubt that his ability is better than most people in the hall of fame, but I don't know that he has the evidence to show it.

I don’t think Keith lives in the city any more. Unless he just moved there ;he’s lived really far in Long Island . Agreed on all other points.

I tried watching apple at a bar and they had loading problems with the stupid think wheel spinning the whole time. Apple and Amazon becoming classic cases of di- worsification with their forays into sports broadcasting

Huge outing from May to get that clean 8th.

Diaz didn’t have his most dominant stuff, but prevailed.

Lugo is getting more consistent.

And that call-up who started was ok.

Feel like the off day interrupted the offensive flow a bit, though the Phils have pitched well and played sound baseball. Hoping we can get back to grinding and raising pitch counts against Wheeler today!

in a rush this morning so just some minor league highlights

Raul Beracierta's OPS is now up to .830, his average up to .305 after a 3 hit performance that included his 12th homer for
@stluciemets
. Paul Gervase struck out 4 over 2 innings giving him 9 over 4 pro innings. Chase Estep was on 3 times, including hitting his first pro HR

Brett Baty had a hit and a walk, Francisco Alvarez 0-3, with a K, Mark Vientos added 3 hits, Syracuse committed 5 errors including 1 each from Baty, Alvarez, and Khalil Lee

Phillip Diehl allowed 4 runs over 1 inning of work, he may yet be a decent grab by the Mets but it likely won't be this season

2 hits for Alex Ramirez, Christian Scott 4 scoreless in his
@BKCyclones
debut. Scott's FIP on the season is now a sparkling 2.69 (#1 in the organization amongst SP), William Lugo added a single

Ronny Mauricio recorded a single. August has been a rough one for the lanky SS, .196/.196/.392 with 0 walks over 11 games
Reimer
DanMetroMan : 8/14/2022 10:57 am : link

DanMetroMan : 8/14/2022 11:29 am : link
Omar De Los Santos's next steal will be his 60th of the season

Only one qualified EL hitter (Dane Myers) has a lower BB% than Ronny Mauricio

@stluciemets
OF Blaine McIntosh OBP (.389) trails only Brett Baty, Fernando Villalobos, Luis Castillo, and the now suspended Karell Paz amongst
@mets
minor leaguers currently playing stateside

I was unaware of this but Diehl will be a minor league FA unless they add him to the 40 man (which seems doubtful)

Both should be bullpen options down the stretch.

For those who have not seen him, he has a breaking ball with a huge vertical drop and decent horizontal movement.

He reminds me of Pedro Feliciano but more vertical and less horizontal than Pedro.

Like Pedro, the key will be whether he can throw the breaking ball for strikes. If he does, he will be tough. IMO a good "high risk/decent possible reward" acquisition.
