I don’t see him helping the Bears much or them thinking he’s the solution. They’ll run an offense centered around the run with Montgomery and Herbert and hope Fields develops. Mooney is a very underrated receiver and many think Cole Kmet will emerge as a nice TE safety blanket for Fields.
I also think this new regime is looking to make their own imprint on the organization without spending a crazy amount of money this season. They want to build their own team and to do that they have to avoid extending bad contracts like KG to make room to trade for a player like Smith.
Cody Ford is on the last year of his contract and rumor is he is on the bubble. Team trading for him would be responsible for ~1.5M. ~900k dead to Buffalo.
Trading Slayton saves the Giants ~2.5M
Benefit Giants 1M and Oline Depth they really need.
Benefit Buffalo WR depth they really need.
Really makes sense for both sides, before even factoring in the GM connection.

Thats an interesting one.
Another one- Slayton for Josh Oliver, Tight end on the Ravens. Ravens TE room is deep...Oliver was a 3rd rounder in 2019 that would be an excellent fit for what Daboll wants at the position
Especially those with speed to stretch the field and give their running game (including Jackson) more room to run. And the Ravens have a deep group at the CB/DB position that's played in Martindale's system.

Ravens are deep at safety, not corner. Giants need corners, not safeties...safety should be fine assuming Belton makes it back. Adams is pros pro who is fine as the depth guy.
Ravens might be worse off at corner than the Giants are. Humphrey is good but if he goes down they are in trouble (similar to Giants with Adoree)
Peters is the second starter but he is on PUP coming off an ACL. Kyle Fuller is projected as the slot guy. The backups after Peters & Humphrey on the outside are 2 4th round rookies & Daryl Worley (signed last week)
is being showcased. There is little doubt Slayton is on the bubble for either trade or release. I would hope they get a draft pick for him, but I doubt it would be more than a 6 or 7.
As far as Baltimore, if they have a safety they would want to swap, would not be surprised if Schoen does that. THey are thin at safety too - X, Love and Adams are really the only sure safeties they have with Belton hurt.
is right. Maybe - maybe you get a seventh for Slayton. For a team like Baltimore who probably picks low, a 6th.
Slayton was absolute dog crap last year. He was very promising as a rookie. I thought he was hurt year 2 but learned to run better routes but was terrrible last year.
If YOU think Slayton sucks and is on the bubble, isnt worth 2.5 million and could get cut. Dont you think EVERY NFL team thinks the same thing ? Why should I trade away assets, and pay his salary for the season when you might just release him and I could sign him for LESS money ??
Why do we always think our trash is EVERY other teams treasure..
fine trading Slayton for Ford. Both are likely JAGs. Trading Slayton saves $2.5M but that isn't a lot, and the Giants might keep him because of his deep speed.
My guess is that Slayton's value on the open market is no higher than a seventh round draft pick. He had a very high drop rate last year, and will be a FA after this season. Any team trading for him would be banking on him returning to the form he had as a rookie. That was a long time ago.
the ravens have made the most sense since the reager rumor was
I know, may at BBI thirst for Slayton to be pushed out-the-door, but what does that leave us ? Toney is closest deep threat receiver on the roster (and he looks like he'll have injury prone career).
Maybe the Giants have just resigned themselves to a dink-and-doink passing offense that's easy for Dan Jones to execute. I get that too.

I'd do that in a second. But I would be a bit surprised if Buffalo did that despite the connections. And I think it's tough to give up OL depth.
And I like Buffalo's receiving corp with Diggs, Davis, Crowder, Know, Howard, etc.
With all of the game footage of Slayton does anyone believe any GM in football would be like, "coach did you see the plays Slayton made in preseason? We should go get him!"
To the failure of the receivers, including Slayton's problems.
A lot of the level of performance is also related to the natural rhythm of good offensive coordination.

There is a reason why he is on the bubble here.
It will be draft picks, a CB or OL depth.
Ford is interesting because the Giants were reportedly very high on him in the draft. Maybe there is a path here with Slayton.

they have the deepest stable of DBs in the NFL, i suspect 1 of them is incoming here by cutdown day.

I used to think Slayton had potential to become a valuable WR, but that was 3 years ago after a surprise rookie season, now I think he's dime a dozen.

Slayton has talent and was misused by judge and Jason Garrett
