I was at practice today.....I didn't want to fight the crowds so I took a seat in the stands aways from the main practice field.....This is where all the injured guys were training. Toney was running in full pads and looks good. I wouldn't be worried that this is more than a day to day issue. The guy that caught my eye was Matt Peart. He was working one on one with a trainer. He was getting in and out of his stance, moving laterally, and sprinting forward. He was in shorts and a tee shirt. With all the talk of lack of depth, looking for a veteran swing tackle, I feel that Peart will be back sooner than later. We saw last year that he is not ready to be a starting tackle yet. However, he has good size, is athletic, and was a third round pick. Bobby Johnson seems to be getting more out of his players than the previous coaching staff. Maybe the answer to the swing tackle position is already on the roster, and not far away from participating.
Im interested in how he responds to this new staff.
Yep, it was the 3rd round.
Why?
Peart has the talent to be a very good player but it clearly is a question of toughness and desire with him. I would love to see him get on the field soon and see how he performs under a good OL coach like Johnson because his chance of making the team significantly improved with the injuries to McKethan and Gono. He might be the swing tackle by default.

surprised if he's part of their plans moving forward.

From former regime. Basically benched in favor of a broken down Solder. His former position coach basically called him a wimp publicly. Has to work himself back onto field still.
Tackles just don’t grow on trees but more than enough here to suggest him sticking would be a surprise.

I would think that this new regime will not make decisions based on the former one. In fact, they may want to take the George Costanza approach.

So you’re judging him based upon a horrible former regime but then saying he will be gone just because he was drafted by that same former regime?
He has the size and potential, let’s see what a non pathetic regime can actually do with him.
You never know....sometimes bad coaching can just about destroy a player. Then, when the get that change of scenery a light comes on. Id at least like to see him get one last shot with the new staff.
Speaking of old OL in new places....guess who was the PFF top rated offensive player for Arizona with an overall grade of 92????:) Yeah I know, I know....PFF sucks...

The Giants don't really believe in PFF either; they said our linebackers sucked in coverage last year yet we didn't do anything to fix the problem.

He couldn't beat out Solder who was at the end of the road and when he manged to see the field, he didn't do squat drawing criticism from the former OL coach who basically called him soft. Now he he's trying to come back from an ACL. Why would he be part of the plans going forward

Answer: He looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

im sure the new coaching staff are eager to form their own opinions.
Can’t give a bigger insult than that...

Joe Judge talked like Tarzan and cosched like a pussy.
I agree it's unlikely that Peart is part of the new regime's future plans. He's low cost so they'll see what they've got, but if his issues are motivational, then there's no fixing that. As others have repeatedly noted, he couldn't beat out Solder, who was a human turnstile.
My guess that because his injury was so late in the year that he doesn't even play this season. But that will give the team time to see how committed he is to his rehabilitation and therefore football. If he thinks his career might be over, then he might become more motivated. It's happened with other players. But if he doesn't care then he'll likely be cut during the offseason, even before camp.
Feliciano getting hurt yesterday is the biggest issue if serious. Giants have really nothing or basically below average replacements backing him up.
There isnt a lot of positive in his favor. Unless the light has come on while injured, he probably will get his shot at an NFL career in another uniform or ride off into the sunset.
He couldnt beat out Nate Solder. Nate Solder!

That non-pathetic regime wasted no time openly referring to Peart as a 4th tackle and using him as an example of how scouts should always be looking to push an existing player off the roster in order to improve the team.
They're not hiding how they feel about him. Schoen (and probably Daboll) see Peart as a JAG.
