House money today; Toronto lost again.

yuck.
ESPN
Percy : 8/14/2022 7:33 pm : link
Is the absolute worst at broadcasting a game. Sort of missed the first run scored after focussing on the fielder's choice out at first and consumes a big hunk of screen with meaningless off-point babble by a nearly senile Simon, Jeter, a shortstop who was much, much better on the filed than he is erratically pontificating about a game, and some helpless host. Have to turn the sound off. May have to just skip the game as unwatchable.

I am skipping. Unwatchable. Was looking forward to the game. But I will read about it tomorrow and check the score on my phone.
NYY Lineup
GruningsOnTheHill : 8/14/2022 7:45 pm : link
this lineup is brutal. How far off is Stanton's projected return?

The Paul Simon bit was embarrassing..
Ask Gleyber Torres a question????
shockeyisthebest8056 : 8/14/2022 7:46 pm : link
That seems like it could go horribly wrong.
LeMahieu
mitch300 : 8/14/2022 7:48 pm : link
Hurt his toe? I looked on Twitter and I didn’t see any mention of this.
Tommy Pham sucks, yet Taillon can’t get him out

Maybe next inning...
Jim in Tampa : 8/14/2022 7:53 pm : link
ESPN can have a running conversation with Taillon. It's not like any of the players are busy.

The better part of valor.
Sorry for Late Submission Above

But after trying for a few more minutes, I quit. ESPN is a kind of hell it turns out you can avoid.
this team

Absolutely fucking pathetic. You’re intentionally not going to watch Yankees-Red Sox because you want to “prove” how much you don’t like ESPN? Hahahaha. That’s amateur shit right there. That’ll teach em! 😂

Welp...he isnt missing much ao far.

David Dooley : 8/14/2022 8:37 pm : link
I rarely watch Sunday Night Baseball but it’s borderline unwatchable. One of the announcers speaks with marbles in his mouth and the mid inning interview with a guy on the field is ridiculous. It wasn’t even a good interview with such gems as “How many HRs do you think Judge will hit?” and “Who were some of your favorite players?”. Not to mention a ball was hit to to Torres which he couldn’t get to. Notice how Cone didn’t chime in once. He is probably as disgusted as everyone else with this new cutting edge segment. Embarrassing.
I despise ESPN, but I'm not ignoring the game because of it.
Matt M. : 8/14/2022 8:38 pm : link
There is the Kay Rod simulcast. Besides just not liking ESPN, their broadcast is absolutely boring.

What I do for MNF with the Giants, I watch on the local simulcast of the ESPN broadcast, just to say I didn't watch it on ESPN.

He’s not missing anything because he’s absolutely watching. He’s too good of a fan not to. I don’t buy his “I’m not watching” one bit. He’s watching. But he gets his BBI mob points in by saying he’s not. He knows BBI thinks constantly ridiculing ESPN is “cool”.
Devers

just continues to kill us.

3-0

This team is fading fast.

Loser lineup.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 8/14/2022 8:45 pm : link
Loser pitcher.

Devers should get one around his neck next time he comes to the plate.
I shouldn’t even be mad at Taillon.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 8/14/2022 8:47 pm : link
They got 4 straight starts that were good to great and lost 3 of the games.

Dogshit lineup and cratering pen is losing them these games.
i didn't expect more
RasputinPrime : 8/14/2022 9:02 pm : link
than we have gotten from our 2-5 starters. Cole has been a disappointment.

It's our offense that has fallen off the cliff. Take a look at what the other top 6 teams are delivering on offense right now and try not to be worried.

Just pathetic, Judge cannot spend a single minute being Clark Kent.
Jim in Hoboken : 8/14/2022 9:21 pm : link
It's fucking infuriating looking at the different trajectories of the careers of Devers and Torres. They were both studs in '18 and '19. Devers looked like a garbage man masquerading as a baseball player, and probably still does, while Torres always looks the part of a baseball natural. One has become a good defender and an even greater offensive powerhouse, the other probably will be traded for nothing this offseason.

It won't be a cake walk coming here either, deGrom and Scherzer will probably combine for 30 K's against us.
We'll on the bright side
Stu11 : 8/14/2022 9:21 pm : link
We got our pitching figured out most of the trip except for last Sunday. Just didn't hit a lick except for last Monday & Tuesday

They have to call up Peraza now, right?

Hello… is this thing on???
Nah man, IKF bought himself a Hicks-like contract
Jim in Hoboken : 8/14/2022 9:49 pm : link
after last night.

Peraza will be traded for someone in a full-body cast through 2024.

All kidding aside, DJ has fallen back to earth and now wr know why. Rizzo has a flair for the dramatic but is still hitting .220. Other than Judge, we have like zero professional hitters in this pathetic line-up.
The highest OBP on the active roster after Judge & DJM is…
shockeyisthebest8056 : 8/14/2022 9:58 pm : link
AARON HICKS. Let that sink in.
Is that 3 shutouts in last 10 games???

They have another nine game road trip after this homestand. This road trip was brutal, this team won't get out of the ALDS. I've said that for a while now.

6 months is a long season. The Yanks have gone through a bad month. They have 7 weeks to get it together and right the ship. Hopefully Stanton comes back this week. They really missed him this weekend. He kills the Sox. I have faith the back of the pen will settle.

Don't hold your breath on that. As of Friday, he still can't run and has not seen any live pitching.

Incredible how these "he's just tired and a little sore" injuries turn into month-long IL stints.

The starting pitching has honestly been pretty good recently, but this team suddenly cannot hit for shit and can't score. The situational hitting has been brutal - even DJ has bad numbers with RISP this year and he's been one of our best players.

Aaron Judge can't beat teams by himself in October. It's definitely time to be concerned. Thankfully there's a good bit of time left to get this figured out, but it's got to start happening soon.
The Yankees were not supposed to be 100+ game good
Essex : 8/15/2022 10:41 am : link
before the season. The team is poorly constructed, especially for games where you need to produce in key situations (aka RISP), the injuries have always been an issue and seem to be again. But, the Yankees are certainly not a bad team and will be competitive. I just doubt this season will be materially different than any season from 17-21 and in the first half of the year, I was kind of thinking that it could be.
It seems like every game over half the starters
PatersonPlank : 8/15/2022 10:51 am : link
have a batting average under 250. Last night it was like 6.

I hate Sunday night ESPN broadcasts, and one look at the box score told me all I need to know about yet another dud for our boys

I've always leaned to the side of saying it's a long season, teams go through ruts, have patience...but Yanks need to wake the F up soon. Especially the bats, as you guys have said
