AAA
Alvarez 0-4, K (He's officially slumping at this point. He's hitting .179/.273/.333 in August. .176/.330/.385 in Syracuse over 26 games. He has 2 errors and 5 passed balls over 20 starts at C. He's not ready for prime time)
Baty 2-4, K (Baty on the other hand is the most well-rounded of the Mets big 4, and while his defense is still below average, offensively he's probably capable of helping the big club and can be pulled later in games for defensive reasons)Vientos 1-4, K (Mike Puma said he's not in consideration for a call-up. That pretty much confirms what we have heard for a while now, that they view him as a 1b/DH "only". That doesn't mean he won't provide future value to the Mets, but it won't be at 3b)
Lee 1-4, K
Peterson 4 innings 8 hits 2 runs 2 walks 7 k's
Montes De Oca 1 inning 0 hits 0 runs 2 walks 0 k's (If he can bring down the walks he should be a legitimate option in 2023. He's like part of the reason they felt so comfortable moving Holderman, similar profile and upside-7th inning arm)
AA
Mauricio 2-4, K (unlikely but they could potentially call-up Mauricio as a defensive replacement/backup SS if need be. He's really been scuffling offensively prior to yesterday (OPS for August is .636, but he's probably their best defensive SS option in the upper minors, highly doubt they go that way, but because he's on the 40 man it's an option)
Wyatt Young 2-4. 3b (.367 OBP on the season .350/.500/.575 in August)
BK
Ramirez 1-4
Consuegra 1-4, 3 k's
Lugo 0-5
St. Lucie
Estep 3-5, 2b, K (Nice start to his career. We won't learn much about him until he's promoted. FSL is regarded as on par with NCAA level competition, but better to perform than to not)
Tilien 1-4, BB, K
Dominguez 2-3, HR, BB, SB, KODLS 1-5, 3 k's, SB (60th! promote)
McIntosh 1-3, K
Ziegler 2 innings 0 hits 0 runs 1 walk 3 k's (Command was all over the place in this one, probably just rust but 31 pitches 16 strikes and many of his pitches were nowhere near the plate, should be fine)
Diaz 3 innings 4 hits 2 runs 2 walks 2 k's
Juarez 3 innings 0 hits 0 runs 1 walk 5 k's (He along with Askew (still starting but likely a RP) are probably the top 2 LHRP prospects in the system)
Arm is well below average at SS. Pretty much 2B only at the next level
Young might be Michael Stefanic, the Sequel, as he is extremely difficult to make swing and miss but is so lacking in big league physicality that most eyeball scouts are inclined to dismiss him. He has among the lowest swinging strike rates in the org (at 8%, it’s not quite at Stefanic’s level, but is still good) and has reached Triple-A in his first full season by virtue of his bat-to-ball skills. Young is almost impossible to beat with velocity, and while he’ll occasionally turn on an inside pitch, he mostly serves singles to shallow left field. Without much power he is unlikely to make a huge impact, and Young will need to find another viable position or two if he’s actually going to play a consistent active roster role, but he already looks like an above-replacement second base option in case of injury emergency.
Quote:
he has gotten on base at all levels. Is his defense adequate? If so, I'd consider him over the likes of Katoh

Gotcha. Not much beyond Lindor and Guillorme. Thankfully, both have been pretty dependable

if they think that's baty i am all for it - just no more AAAA'ers for the love of mr met. in 600 innings at 3b Baty has 15 errors. for context in 800 innings Escobar has 8. in 340 Vientos has 9. so either option is likely to make 1 or 2 mistakes Escobar wouldn't make over the course of a week (errors, misplays, etc) but like i said the overall play at the position shouldn't be much different so if they can minimize mistakes and hit even a little bit (.700 ops+), whoever comes up has a shot to stick beyond the week. especially since Guillorme is already platooning and can obviously handle late game defense.
just please don't repeat the mistakes of June/July at DH when they wasted at bats on Plummer/JDD/Dom/Blankenhorn.
Baty's AA triple slash vs. RHP was .330/.429/.559 (.988 ops). they both walk about the same though he k's a little less and makes a little more contact so there are perfectly valid rationales to believe either may hit more than Escobar.
bottom line either is a viable option and i think defense is a good deciding factor. if the upcoming pitchers were more left handed i'd probably lean vientos but since it's righties i think id lean baty (though that's without having seen either play defense at 3b beyond a few highlights).
I think the record has been qualified with a "x% of innings as SS" or something..
And also, as I've said a few times on gameday threads (and clearly not to take ANYTHING away from Lindor)... but its pretty amazing that Jose set that record as the leadoff hitter with the pitchers spot in front of him!!
He was assigned to the FCL Mets, not St. Lucie. He's on the roster, hasn't played.

Which would suggest for today at least, it's probably going to be Katoh
What was Ziegler's injury again ??
I'm looking forward to Ziggy and Matt Allan making significant progress next season..

MLB announced the postseason schedule. If the Mets lock up the NL East/No. 2 seed, they will end the regular season on Oct. 5 and start the NLDS on Oct. 11.
(Also interesting: Game 7 of the World Series would be on Nov. 5! Late!)
But November 5th is way too late to be playing a deciding game of the season.
How about a few more Doubleheaders in June and July ??
All players are eligible but it would be unlikely for them to have his first taste of professional hitters included AA/AAA top prospects which the AFL usually does. It's expected Allan will pitch in the instructional league per Eric Longenhagen.

Owners would never agree to DH, lose too much money. And if they were day/night DH (meaning two gate receipts), I'd wager the MLBPA would have a problem with that.
Williams 1-3, 3b, HBP
Morabito 1-4, 2 K
Reimer 0-3, BB, RBI
Perozo 1-3, HR
Malm 1-3, 2b
Correct
I want the Mets to give Jett Williams a Video of every Jose ALtuve at bat this season.

Um, Mets are going for the #1 seed, Tim.
