seems like the season just ended.
but less than one week training camp starts and just over a week before 1st pre-season game (I think 9/15 is the first game), looking forward to the season (even though it looks to be a massive rebuild in MTL).
still a few RFA's unsigned and some notable FA's still unemployed.
some players I think (could be wrong) are still available as UFAs are PK Subban, Zach Aston-Reese, Braden Holtby, Sonny Milano, Evan Rodrigues, and more...

The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a four-year contract (2022-23 to 2025-26) with forward Kirby Dach.

someone like him is much better as the extra D than a young guy who you want to play as much as possible.
Players I could see being moved (IOW I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of them were traded - not saying all of them will be traded):
Christian Dvorak (C)
Josh Anderson (RW (can play LW))
Joel Armia (RW (can play LW))
Paul Byron (LW (can play RW))
Evgenii Dadanov (RW/LW)
Jonathan Drouin (LW - though LTIR is more likely)
Joel Edmundson (LD)
David Savard (RD)
I'd love Tatar if my team were a contender - he should be movable (for value IMO)
Can't wait for this season. Expecting a great one for NYR.
My apologies.
So many teams locking up the young stars. Stutzle will now be 29 when he hits FA. Perfect for a 5+ year deal and by then (obviously only if he develops) at who knows $12+M per year.

Expecting an epic failure for the Rangers. This will be the year of NY in hockey, but it will be the Islanders who turn it around and the best goalie in NY will be Sorokin!!!
This has the makings of really making hockey in NY something special. Hockey has always been the 4th sport in NY. This will be very interesting to see what happens to the popularity of the sport in NY if these 2 goalies go from very good to great by being able to win Lord Stanley for their teams.
I think Askarov (still 20 years old) could be really good, but between Shesterkin and Sorokin not sure Askarov winds up even at that level.
Speaking of goalies...
Habs extended Cayden Primeau (Keith's son), 3 years, one way contract. I think this means either Price's career is likely done or they're trading Jake Allen.

Well in fairness, the Habs were horrible last year and the Senators have been brutal for a couple of years now.
I know they're original 6 and have a following, but the Red Wings still get a ton of national TV exposure despite not having been to the playoffs since 2016.
Stutzle is a great signing, love his game, was half hoping NYR would surprise and take him.

Agree. Sens are my darkhorse pick to make the playoffs. I'm done with Buffalo, lol.
And agree on Stutzle. I love how Gallagher calls out his diving bullshit. Even if it is gamesmanship by Gallagher.
Sens are going to be good, Andy should be excited.

Hockey Night in Canada has nothing to do with United States national broadcasts. I grew up 10 minutes from the Canadian border, an hour south of Montreal. We got the Canadians every Saturday night on CBC Channel 6 Hockey Night in Canada

Hearing Mikey Anderson and LA getting close on a one-year contract. Good player, one of the remaining unsigned young D.
Talbot is ok, but I don't see him as the #1 on a contender.
it seems like there are just so few sure fire #1 goalies around the league right now.
Same with BUF, as much as like the way their roster is shaping up, can you really expect a team with Eric Comrie as their #1 to be a contender? And 41 year old Craig Anderson as the backup. Comrie could turn out to be really good, but he's made 24 starts and he's 27 years old. I don't consider Malcolm Subban an option either or Ben Bishop who is I believe just LTIR.
DET is different, because I do consider Husso and Nedeljkovic a good tandem and I like a lot of DET's recent moves too.

Yeah that's the one area where the Devs could have a possible up on the Sens with Blackwood. He has #1 upside potential if he can stay healthy.

Buffalo definitely has questions in net but I wouldn't sleep on Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. That kid has talent and I could see him winning the starting spot at some point this season.
Once again goaltending and coaching will be what decides the Devils fate. If Blackwood is fully recovered, he came back way too early last season, and he can just stay healthy then the Devils should have a solid duo with Vanecek as the 1B.

I was surprised he didn't already win it, so thought his career must have stalled. In the U18's he out dueled Woll in the semis vs a pretty loaded USA team and eventually led the Fins to the gold and the US handed Canada their worst U18 loss in the bronze game.
same here, but being a captain in MTL at 23 years old is not easy.
I hope it doesn't take focus off his game, I don't think it will, but the knives come out pretty quickly in MTL when things don't go well.

Shit like this is why I hate the Goodrow deal. Motte on a 2 or 3 year deal is better value than Goodrow IMO.
That money is better spent elsewhere.
I can admit if I'm wrong and in the case of Goodrow I was. Well Drury really was wrong, but I supported the signing.
Now, I hope Goodrow proves us both wrong (which would make me initially correct and I'll take it, lol)
But the extra flexibility outweighs the differential between the two, IMO.
