seems like the season just ended.
but less than one week training camp starts and just over a week before 1st pre-season game (I think 9/15 is the first game), looking forward to the season (even though it looks to be a massive rebuild in MTL).
still a few RFA's unsigned and some notable FA's still unemployed.
some players I think (could be wrong) are still available as UFAs are PK Subban, Zach Aston-Reese, Braden Holtby, Sonny Milano, Evan Rodrigues, and more...
Devils are wtf, who cares about the Colorado iteration?
Isles managed to make a bad jersey worse. Even the misguided milennials who like the fisherman hate these.
I wonder if they pay a firm a ton of money to come up with these.
and the Karen and Vegas having retro jerseys is comical
I like the Kings.
Bring Don Cherry back to coach!

The Sharks' jersey also sucks.
big picture, who cares about retro jerseys, but if you're going to do it - do it well.
I like the Kings.
Always loved the Rogie Vachon/ Marcel Dionne Kings unis. I always Chose them when I'd play my son on EA Sports NHL on the Ps4

It looks more like the Kansas City Scouts jersey which the Devils franchise was briefly before they were the Colorado Rockies. Take a look at the logo of the Scouts and you will understand why they used their current logo lol.
I didn't think it could get worse than last years "Jersey" 3rd jersey but this is so much worse. It's like they told the designer to sum up Lindy Ruff's tenure here in a jersey design.
Such a great play too, not a fluke or easy goal - he got a high hit from Josh Brown (6' 5" 230 pound journeyman defenseman), he looked like he was going to go after him but the the Habs created a TO and Slaf stole the puck and wired a wrister top shelf.
and then he called out Brown, lol.

Bratt now has 7 assists on the Devils 12 goals this season. The Devils advanced metrics 5v5 are off the charts. Jack is tied for the lead with 11 high danger chances created. The Devils are first in the NHL in eg/60 when Bratt is on the the ice. The Devils have out shot opponents 159-84 so far in 4 games. Only 4 games, so nothing to get carried away over, but they start finishing and get decent goaltending maybe the season doesn't have to be so shitty...
Agree, what are they waiting for?
but when you have a game where Suzuki, Caufield and Slafkovsky all score and Xhekaj drops the mitts it does at least put the plan in focus. Add in Guhle, Dach has looked really good, Monahan is healthy (worst case as trade bait), Harris is better than expected you can have some hope for the future. If Logan Mailloux can ever get past his crimes (in the court of public opinion now) the Habs have a lot of pieces in place.
Add in a Bedard or Mitchkov or Fantilli and they're on their way.
too much talent on a veteran team, they will figure it out. I like that Wahlstrom seems to be having some early success. One of my favorite players from that draft class. Needs more TOI.
That was a beautiful goal.
100% right, As most of us said they should have locked him up for 8 years when they had the chance. Now instead of 6.5-7 a year he will probably want 8.
I'm always amazed at how talented these guys are. That was beautiful.
Arber Xhekaj (pronounced Jack-eye) nickname is wi-fi because when players saw his last name spelled they thought it was a joke and really someone's wi-fi password, lol
Quinn Hughes out a couple weeks
Panarin leads the NHL in points
Rasmus Dahlin is developing into a superstar
Jake Oettinger proving his playoffs were not a fluke
Shane Pinto (OTT) still a rookie, off to a PPG start
Nils Lundkvist fits right in on the point in DAL
CAL 5 - 1 (10 points, + 5 goal diff)
no conclusions, but both teams off to good starts as expected
Vegas the big early surprise (to me) (6 - 2, 12 points, and a +10 NHL leading goal differential)

I'm not surprised by the hot start for Vegas. Cassidy is a hell of a coach.

Once Lehner was out I thought they'd struggle in net.
Did you think the duo of Logan Thompson and Adin Hill was going to carry the team?
Amazing stat with the Devils they are out shooting their opponents 2-1 every night. It's really unheard of for a team that's probably not gonna make the playoffs no? Bratt has 2 goals last night 12 points now I believe thats tied with Panarin for the league lead. Man if that guy gets 100 points that's gonna be a huge$$$ lost gamble for a Devs team that has been real proactive at locking up everyone else at below market value.
My fantasy team (and Andy in Halifax and other Sens fans) weep. budding star in OTT. They're loaded but he's one of their better less known players IMO. Put up 35 goals as a 22-year old last year. he was part of the US U18 WJC gold medal team (2017?) with Poehling, Quinn Hughes, Farabee, Brady Tkachuk - and Norris wasn't a passenger on that team, he was a contributor.
Injured his shoulder this weekend.

Logan Thompson looked good last season but Adin Hill is a mediocre backup at best.
Kaiden Guhle with his 1st goal tonight.
Marchand back early and immediately starts filling up the scoresheet - I hate him.

There are few athletes I hate as much as Marchand.
I still don't think they're all that talented for position players, but Hart has been sparkling and a good goalie elevates all around them.
I know it's early - but maybe a goalie trade candidate if the Flyers decide to rebuild?
Seems like a good dude, but hasn't lived up to the potential yet, but still better than what VAN has right now.
Canucks blue line has been decimated.
I wish Joel Edmunson was healthy - great trade candidate from MTL.
Great win.
The devils made the Isles look really slow, I'm scared how the Avs will make them look tonight
Hopefully he's back soon, he was looking good.
Hopefully he's back soon, he was looking good.
That stinks. Hopefully he's back soon I'd like to see him play a bit.
I think of him like McDavid but on the blue line. Every time he touches the puck it's like someone pressed turbo on the video game controller.
There was a thread on here a couple days ago about athletes you like to watch from other teams and I picked Kaprizov - as awesome as McDavid is, and he's in another world, Kaprizov is so fun. He thinks like Datsyuk, it's the creativity you just can't teach it's all IQ/instinct.
Obviously I love watching McDavid and Makar, but Kaprizov isn't as fast or great with his edge work as either, but man that IQ is crazy.
They won 7 - 4, but goals from Suzuki, Caufield (2), Salfkovsky and a hatty from Dvorak.
Just a fun team to watch and I don't think the vibe would change in a loss and that's the key IMO to coaching a young team.
I still would like to see the DNA results of Amanda Kessel. Can't believe those two are brother and sister.
Honestly the most impressive thing is not so much their fire power it is the way their D is limiting shots and chances. Nice to see Fabian Zeterlund net his 1st of the season today. He really has been buzzing. The one downer is that Holtz has been benched and the rare times he dresses lately its as a bottom 6 guy.

funny how a week or 10 days changes everything. lol.

I know right? After 2 games Jay and I had everyone fired lol.
