without their best pass rushers. That's impressive. Looks like things are beginning to change for the better. They may not have a winning record this year but that's a great start and hopefully a sign of things to come.
When Barkley had the ball batted out from behind, where was the ball placed down? Where it went out of bounds? Or where the ball was first whacked out?
Pass pro needs a ton of work. Ezeudu played well and Neal for the most part appeared to be good. I think the biggest issue on the line was Bredeson and Feliciano.
Almost 200 yards and ran with power between the tackles. I still stick with "sell high" before the trade deadline if we're out of it, but that would be a blow to the locker room for sure.
The Titans are better at damn near every position. The run game is their game but today, it was our game. Our coaches made the right adjustments (although I don't know why they didn't start running the ball with the quick passing game). They are making lemonade out of lemons. The Titans were out-coached today.

We have seen our QB make good decision/plays in past seasons....I thought he was done with bird dogging his primary receiver...I had assured myself he wouldnt revert to that behavior this season due to new coaching and offense...hopefully this win and the sideline jaw with Coach will get him going in right direction...one thing for sure he really needs Barkley, Toney in the line-up....they created havoc at times and you could see the Titans lose confidence, make mistakes....
I just lost my father in January and I just thought the same exact thing as you. Normally we’d be on the phone recapping now. Makes you appreciate how sports can bring a family together.
Love the way Barkley hit the holes today. And tbh, there was a play early in the game where he did a little jitter step in the backfield and I was like, “fucking stop dancing”. And he had key blitz pick up today too. Fucking great game Saquon!
And yeah, I’ll gladly keep eating crow if Barks keeps playing hard and getting dirty. Fucking hell yeah Saquon!
was so bad, the negativity in me took over. But they kept it close and started to compete, which is all we want this year as we build it back.
Cannot believe they won this game. Actually apologized to my brother in law Titans fan - but i actually don;t care... lol

Yes, he tried to get Barkley on the back shoulder - but the safety was too far off Barkley. I think that was his one bad play in the game. That is easy to clean up. Good thing is on film he will see if anything else was open.
I also thought Kafka's play calling in the 1st half sucked.

It was spotted at the 25. Where it went out. It only comes back to the spot of the fumble inside of 2 minutes or on fourth down.

My sympathies to both of you. You know they were watching and cheering on that missed FG
similar to Norwood's miss and this is just the first game of the season. We haven't seen enough of this in recent years even though I'm not sure my nerves can take it.

I wouldn't go that far, lol, but it felt great.
I gave up years offa my life for that Norwood kick and the one by Bahr the week before in San Fran. I'm sure I'm not the only one who did too.
Not just 1-0, but a win where we just came from behind after some excellent halftime adjustments (when was the last time we did that?) and gutted out a huge win in the home of the AFC's #1 seed....

It was where it went OB. The 25. Only comes back to spot of fumble inside two minutes or on fourth down.
In my opinion one really bad mistake. All QBs make them. Let’s not forget he hasn’t played in a real game in a long time and he got the win on the road against a good team in week 1. Very poised on last drive 2 really good fakes for a big 1st down and for a td pass. 2 really good 3rd down passes late in 4th, one wqs dropped. Overall I am fine with Jones performance today. I think he will get better each game.
you lose the turnover battle, have more penalties, lose time of possession, lose the sack differential, go 2/10 on third down conversions, etc...but find a way to in.
Amazing outcome.
What a horrible day for kickers,
Congrats, especially, to Daboll for getting his first win and showing some serious brass balls.
won us the game. He was basically the entire offense.
The running blocking by the OL was very good, but the pass blocking was bad. Jones was under constant pressure, and Simmons abused anyone and everyone on just about every play. I know he's good, but we made him look like Reggie White.
Almost nothing from the WRs. Were KT's snaps limited because of injury?
Jones as usual held the ball too long and didn't see the whole field, although the fumble was on Ezeudu being destroyed by Simmons. Jones's INT in the end zone was absolutely brutal.
Defense played well. No real pressure but we didn't have KT or AO. The contained Henry and got enough stops to give us a chance.
ST was awful.
Daboll post game dance the best regular season postgame celebration

This is really for the coaches to say.
There were at least two missed open receiver plays that fall on Jones. If he hits them, maybe the Giants are never in a position to need 4th Q dramatics and a missed very average distance kick.
You're looking at the result and saying you're fine with it. We'll all take the win. But that was skin of the teeth and between the turnovers and missed plays you can argue that the Giants left more points on the table than Tennessee did.
A career day from barkley, a RB with 160 yards rushing and they barely escaped. You'll know Jones has "made it" when a game like that isn't a nailbiter.

You're being a bit selective.
First downs were equal. Giants held a huge advantage in rushing yards. And 3rd conversions? Titans were 3-of-11.
They were able to move down the field but the pressure defense at the end resulted in the same strategy by offense as if it were prevent, get the ball out quickly to sideline. The defensive upside is that you get there or force a turnover, that didn’t even happen but the offense was still pressured to kick a long fg.
Offense runs through Saquan. OL is significantly better run blocking than pass blocking. I prefer pss heavy but you hbo with efficiency. Spread them out, at least show the potential to pass but feed Barkley.

YOu forgot to mention they outgained the Titans in yards, and held arguably the best back in the league to 82 yards.

WHo doesn't miss wide receivers as a QB?
With that said, yes he still has a ton to improve on. The fumble and the interception that late without pressure can't happen.

Selective? I just named five key game metrics that didn't go our way. And on the road.
Barkley’s Back Baby!!!
Coaches made serious game plan changes at half time to run the football on offense.
Everyone on BBI enjoy this win tonight
Go Giants!!!!

At the start of the game the announcers quoted Daboll as saying we have ot be bale to run the ball and tackle.
Lats year Philly's season turned around when they went run. You cna have success running.

put down a bet that the Giants would out-rush the Titans 238 to 93?
No but I had a big feeling they would go big on the D Line especially with AO and KT probably sidelined. I figure Ward and Leo as DE in base and nickel. Lots of props go to Wink.

You're being selective because you left out the stats where they had the advantage. A couple by a significant margin.
But you conveniently leaving out stats that don't back your narrative is your MO...
Don't worry they will be back next week - hoping that we lose.
Because when we win - that threatens their genius football knowledge and puts a hole in their argument of why they should be running the team.
When it comes to DJ haters it’s like politics. If it’s not their guy they will root for the to bad even if it means the team or country suffers. Stupid.
He wasn’t but you work with what you have. Barkley being the wrong pick has nothing to do with how he’s deployed or your strategy with his contract gojng forward.

Dont bother with him. BW is a Redskins fan and a troll
Jones' confidence has to be shit after the last 2-3 seasons.
Confidence tends to rub off on the people you are leading and are surrounded by.
I could be wrong but, I see the trajectory turning for Jones.
If "Brass Balls" Daboll doesn't get to him .... nobody will.
You would expect there to be some benefit given Daboll's expertise. I loved seeing him get in Jones' face after that bad INT. Can't have plays like that.
that had a HUGE impact on the end of the game was the tackle made by the Defense that made the Titans spend their last TO with 18 seconds left to go. That really limited what Tennessee could do to close out the game.
We saw that before in pre-season, where Wink had the defense play the outside at the end of the game to keep them from going out of bounds. Things like that DO make a difference!
Going for 2 was the ONLY move in that situation. You almost have nothing to lose. Players will respect going for the win instead of playing not to lose. They also had 3 timeout. Even if they missed it, they still could have gotten the ball back and kicked a winning FG. Easy decision IMO.
RE: RE: Gentlemen might have been right about Barkley
He wasn’t but you work with what you have. Barkley being the wrong pick has nothing to do with how he’s deployed or your strategy with his contract gojng forward.
You don’t mean today trade or not franchise him? Besides this team has been picking high since like before Evan engram. What the hell has it gotten us?
If the Gmen had come away with a field goal instead of…
When you dominate and only score 1 TD this is what can happen.
It looked mighty bleak in the first half, but they hung in there.
And the two-point conversation call took balls.
I liked it ... the two-point conversation call ... It was a good move to give a young OL a kudos, while also giving a QB that needs a kick in the ass and a morale booster/stabilizer for the present and moving forward.
RE: RE: For all the Miserable Aholes here who want the Giants To Lose
On offense. Which is understandable because he had no experience with this group live and with the bullets flying. The 2nd half play calling was the best we've seen in at least 6 or 7 years.
We see right through your bullshit, don't know what to tell you...
Let me help - try being less daft.
I'm giving the team credit. It's that plain and simple.
Said another way, for the daft, we even won despite all of the points I cited...
WHy not point out the good things they did, that HELPED them to win? And, as others pointed out, some of the stats you listed as being "negative", were very misleading (ie, they were 2-10 on third down, but titans were 3-11 so not much better). They outrushed the Titans 238-93! That was a BIG reason why they won!
But again - that fucks with your narrative, so we completely understand why you posted what you did.

The ball was spotted at the 25, which is where it was knocked free. It went out closer to the 10. I don’t know the rule well enough to know if this is wrong or right, but what happened is not what you described.

And when it comes to DJ apologists, every win is because Jones won the game. Equal idiocy.
This was a great win. Jones did enough not to lose this game. It is just odd how his bad stats are always a reflection of the line and receivers, and his good stats are a result of him playing really well.
If you watched this game and came away thinking Jones is part of the future of this team, you don’t understand what you are watching. He had a pedestrian day with some decent plays, a long TD to a guy with no defender in his zip code, and an absolutely careless, idiotic pick that could have ended the game.
Daboll says he didn’t know. But who was that guy they picked up from 49ers that came in for him with red dred locks that was playing well . Kinda interesting that slayton was good to go but they just didn’t dress him?

Slayton doesn't play ST. But if Robinson misses time, then I think Slayton has a chance to be active next week.

I asked those fans all spring and summer how can they root for the Giants when they so badly want Jones to fail
They never answered
Because some people's egos are more important than their teams outcomes
Do people like you and Snablats really not understand the difference between expecting Jones to fail, and rooting for him to fail? Is that difficult???
I would love to see Daniel Jones succeed. I think their is virtually no chance of it happening so I would like my team to move on from him and find someone who can and make them better?
I am invested in the Giants winning. I am not invested in Daniel Jones personally.

LOL, I was wondering when you would chime in.
I'm not surprised you don't understand my point. Once a chucklehead, always a chucklehead I guess...
Barkley is a stud, that is all that needs to be said. He also "RAN TOUGH" up the middle. The Titans are a hard team to run on, and he ripped them.
Jones made mistakes, but he also made plays. He is a lot better than the haters let on. He also showed a lot of guts with those runs at the end.
The OL started run blocking a lot better once Eze came in at the half
Best game I have watch saquon play
Ran like he was passed in between the tackles. U can tell how focused he was. Funny how he isn’t too bad when not getting pummeled 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage

It's like training a puppy..Pup does something bad/wrong, he gets scolded..The pup does something good,he gets hugs and and a treat..Well Jones got his ass handed to him..But he also got his hug and high five..It doesn't take very long for not wanting the big balls Dabs in your face on national TV..
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: For all the Miserable Aholes here who want the Giants To Lose
But try to be objective. The pick was absolutely indefensible and a terrible decision. On the other hand the fumble is completely on the O line and not him. Blindside hit where 75 whiffed. That is not on QB.
but team enjoyed a win, let’s not get too caught up. he did have some
decent plays. if he’s a decent player with warts that’s like
most qbs. let’s hope daboll maximizes him then a decision can be made.

Agreed 💯%!
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: For all the Miserable Aholes here who want the Giants To Lose
Pretty easy. We just watched the giants win in spite of him not because of him. Did I miss something or did Barkley not carry this team on his back ?
Saquon doing double duty running and throwing TD passes....oh wait.
Save your ammunition for when he sucks and does not run the game winning drive and TD pass.
Jones wasn’t good today and almost cost them the game. Saqoun won them this game
Dear god, that is just false. Jones picked up the 4th down play. Jones hit the TD pass to SS with a DT at his feet and was his 4th read.
Some of you just refuse to give credit at all..
A couple of good plays means he was great today? Overall he was poor today. The two slides short of the first down not knowing where it was. The horrific interception in the end zone.
You could tell on one of the TD drives they didn’t want to have him throwing the ball. If it wasn’t for Saqoun looking like rookie year Saqoun they might not have scored double digits today.
The defense was very physical. Tae Crowder lit up Henry. Right now i’m more so interested in how they play. Can’t fix the talent deficiency overnight. I like how the defense played today.
I'm giving the team credit. It's that plain and simple.

If understanding the game and trying to look at the game comprehensively is my "narrative" then guilty.
What I wrote is a good thing - we won even though we were on the wrong side of key indicators that typically decide NFL games.
The defense was very physical. Tae Crowder lit up Henry. Right now i’m more so interested in how they play. Can’t fix the talent deficiency overnight. I like how the defense played today.
Agreed. If we can add a dynamic linebacker and improve the secondary this offseason wink could put together a top 5 defense

Jones isn’t a riddle. He’s not a franchise qb worth a big contract or some dog shit qb holding you back. He’s ok. I don’t understand all the debate at all.

There isn't one, except for people hoping for the best.
The GM is already out scouting at big college QB matchups. If it wasn't obvious when they declined the option, or when they signed a backup with recent starting experience who still wants to be a starter and paid him very decent money, it should be obvious now. They don't expect that he's the guy, and they'll let him dictate the outcome with his play.

That is all it is. He is slightly better than he has shown for 3 years. He is not the future, but he is the present.

I agree with you, also this shows that he can actually make adjustments at halftime.

Agreed. For whatever reason people are always ready to jump into 1000+ thread with Jones arguments... lol. People can't even enjoy a f**king win. And really a great and satisfying win at that. I'm happy. We got plenty of work to do but I have a HUGE grin on my face right now.
He’s on pace for 34 tds, lol. I’m kinda kidding but also kinda serious when I say that if jones plays like this every week, and the offense maybe gets some
slightly easier sledding week to week, keep in mind this was one of the tougher games they will play, this team is going to score 21+ every week. And if they do, Jones will be along for the ride. He’s very accurate. He’s not the most agile qbs but he can steal some rushing yards as Daboll isn’t afraid to let jones run, yea he’s gonna make mistakes, most qbs do, but they look like they can move the ball and score pts.
Jones wasn’t exactly BAD today, not by a long shot, and he could probably play better. He might have some numbers this season. What then? Who the fuck cares, right now just enjoy it and take it one week at a time.
The offense looks kind of exciting.
RE: Ximines played very well. Alot of BBI'ers trashed him but
surprised more fans are not talking about today's defense against Henry.
I agree, the D did a great job stopping Henry. Now, if I am a Titans fan I am pissed at their offensive play calling:
1- Henry in wildcat when there really wasn't a need to.
2- Calling a TE end around when you could be using Henry.
Giants defense planned to keep Henry contained and make them beat you in other ways. It worked perfectly.

I’m not as bullish on the Wink defense as you but they were great. I thought we matched up decently today though so I’m curious how we match up against better and deeper passing attacks. The end game strategy was breath of fresh air though. They still moved but we didnt even need to get home on the aggression to see the downside risk of a big play. They still needed to take small chunks and we had the upside gamble of ending the game with a sack or turnover.
RE: Wink is going to have to teach his linebackers
he was also lucky to not get penalized on one of his signature drive extending penalties when he hit tannehill in the first half.
great win, hard to say anything other than that.
amazing to see a team get better as a game goes on instead of worse. the first few drives felt very familiar but wink pulled it together even without much pass rush. they hit and played physical. and the OL got it together in a hostile situation.
honestly still having a hard time believing they won. im a daniel jones fan and that int was the worst ball i can remember him throwing. i think he played a bunch of better games last year with worse stats so the fact that they pulled this one out speaks to the offensive philosophy now. it's modern football and that provides more margin for error. i think what we saw today is the floor on him, which is ironically pretty Tannehill-ish. Hopefully we see a higher ceiling the rest of the way.

We’ll struggle against better passing teams due to a lack of talent in the secondary but If we get Wink some more pieces we could be really good on that side of the ball next year
This is the Saquon that makes a difference for a team.
The OL started very slow, pass protection needs work but they were opening holes for the running game. When you open those holes for Barkley good things happen.
Jones was not horrible not great. The interception was horrible, the fumble you can not blame him. He had a few plays where he held the ball too long but he did what he need to win the game. This could be a very good building block for him and this team.
the Special Teams had a couple of bad coverage plays on Titans punt and KR. Set up Adams for a few nice returns, we have a legit punter but our LS needs more work. The muffed punt fumble recovery was a very nice play by our waiver wire pick up from the Jets.
The D, we did not get to Tannehill and still made some good plays. Crowder was hit or mis, he made some good plays but blew the TD to Hilliard. Dexter Lawrence had a very good game his play on the Titans 2nd to last drive on 3rd down got the football back to give us a chance. Ximines play well, he got caught in between on the 1st drive of the game where he was not sure to drop or go after the QB. Overall he played well. Our reserves played very well, Davidson made a few solid plays. Our D played very well against the run.
Our secondary still a little too much grabbing for my liking. Holmes was close enough to make some plays but did not. He did make a few but he needs to trust his instincts more, you can see his talent he just has to refine his game.
Our LB's were active got caught out of position a few times but what I really noticed the most was very few missed tackles. When we hit them they went down, like that alot.
No gloating about Barkley or even Jones. We won and that is really what all of us Giants fans want. That brings me to my last and most important points, we finally have the right coaches and GM. We have a team that does not have the best talent but competes for 60 minutes. They pass the eye test as a team. They like each other. I said the same thing after the preseason games and had a few say it was just exhibition. Well, this was opening day against a very good football team on the road. Where we were getting our heads handed to us. The adjustments started in the 2nd quarter and more were made at halftime. All the so called pundits and the BBI GM's who told us all that this team stinks learned something about our coaching staff today. They can coach, can you imagine how we will look when we have even more talent. We had lots of mistakes but it is always easier to fix your mistakes after a win instead of a loss.
Great win today. Felt so good to finish a close game with a victory instead of a loss. Bring on the Panthers!!
Daboll, I absolutely loved him getting in DJ's face telling him you can not make that throw. We have heard he is a players coach. Well, he like us also gets pissed at dumb mistakes. I believe when Daboll did that it showed the rest of the team no one is untouchable. DJ then comes back and leads them to the go ahead score. Great stuff.

I agree. I think it’s a boom bust style that is very personnel dependent. It’s a defense that is hard to exploit in the front 7 but easy to exploit in the back 7. A potential problem I see is that the rest of the league is prioritizing coverage, ie. Gardner going before Thibs. So it might be hard to build the personnel he needs and I think we’ll see some ugly games this year. There’s a lot of upside if we get the right pieces though.
Agreed. I really think only one piece in the secondary and one at linebacker will make a huge difference. Maybe we get lucky and a 4th rounder hits too
Jones was not horrible not great. The interception was horrible, the fumble you can not blame him. !
I agree Jones was not horrible not great. The interception though was horrible. You can't fumble there. HE has to have a feel. He doesn't Please let's stop making excuses. Nor should we try to rip him today either.

WTF are you talking about, can't fumble there? Simmons is a beast and was abusing our interioe all game (especially in the 1st half). He went completely around Ezeudu there, blindsiding the QB.
I watch the games on tape delay late into the second quarter.

Your kidding me right? Our rookie Guard wiffed on him on the blindside. What exactly was he supposed to feel? Take your hate of DJ out of any analysis please.
1) I'll try to spin the first half on a positive - we didn't give up points inside the 2 minute warning.
2) Great second half adjustments
3) This game might be the best Barkley has looked running. He was more confident, physical, and was not looking to just bounce everything. What a great game.
4) Was the sack/fumble on Ezeudu or Thomas? Hard to tell.
5) The only negative I have is worry about Gillan. He has a great leg, but not enough air under most kicks, which allows big returns like the one on the first half.
6) I think the 2 pt. conversion was the absolute right call in that spot for this team.
... good question. It was a late stunt with Dupree, so it very well may have been Thomas with the miss, but Ezeudu didn't engage Simmons at all to even slow him down so it looks to me like it was on Ezeudu.

To further that, I have been active on here slamming the posters Producer, BW, Go Terps, Debaser, and Mike from Ohio to name a few for moronic comments they conitnually make blasting Jones. Yet I'm a hater????
As far as Exeudu missing- why is that relevant? You mean the QB can't "feel pressure?" Or secondly, anytime an OL misses his block and comes ta teh QB, teh QB has ZERO obligation to retain the football?
Why should you automatically assume he SHOULD fumble the ball? That is complete nonsense if you do. He HAS to be better.

Oh come on with that. Brady was up big. Jones INT could and should have lost the Giants the game if not for a muffed punt and/or a hero play by Barkley on a 2 point conversion.
Jones had a mediocre at best game displayed terrible pocket awareness, didn’t see open receivers and checked down or held the ball too long. One play he had an open receiver and a clean pocket and took off into a defender.
It was a great win but Jones almost blew great efforts by a number of other Giants and a heroic effort by Barkley against a great run D. You Jones people are insane with all your Brady comparisons among others. Jones doesn’t read the field at an NFL level. If the rest of the team can play like this it’s a shame because this team isn’t going anywhere we want it to with him at QB.
No, That's not what I saw, or what the numbers say. Numbers say he did more to help us win than he did to prevent it. That's what I saw. You see what you want to see. Your credibility is pinned to it at this point. You're Biased.
RE: RE: RE: I really think Daboll is the HC that a guy like D Jones needs.
It's simplicity itself. Undeniable logic.

My point is this whether you are slamming the other posters or not. Feeling pressure is something you get from the internal clock after holding the ball after a certain amount of time. Not when you are beat immediately. Jones as I said earlier he was not great but not awful. That tomahawk chop he had no chance if he had held onto that ball I would have been very impressed.
One thing I did not mention yesterday that I did not like
i'll admit i didn't really watch them specifically during the game, but have to think that Feliciano and Glowinski are just miles better in the run game than anyone we've had in years
Every NFL QB gets hit blindside and has fumbles. There are 2 types here, holding the ball looking for a WR with no awareness and getting hit vs setting up for your delivery to the WR. Jones was winding up for his pass and got hit. It was not lack of feel
The 1st half he had zero time to throw. The interior OL was not good in pass protection majority of game. They were able to move people in the run game especially as the 2nd half moved on
Seeing Barkley actually not getting hit constantly behind the LOS is a sight
The int was terrible. The defender while appearing way off read the play
They still can’t threaten defenses with the pass with any consistency until they can protect up the middle. With that doubt, the play calling with passing becomes more conservative - it is still frustrating. They also don’t have any WR who defenses need to game plan for at this time
All said they are 1-0. Beats losing

There was nothing to "feel" on that play.
DJ was throwing when he was hit. Ezeudu missed the block.
Even though it was a stunt, it was a late stunt and the DT simply slanted outside.

If a crow had a banjo on his ass there would be music in the air. They did not lose, he threw the TD to tie the game and the shovel pass and a very tough run by another maligned player on this board in Barkley to finish it. They won that is all that matters. You can say all the things he can not do, but he did just enough with his legs and arm to get a victory for his team today. You have been hating on this guy for 3 years. Enjoy the victory stop trying to be right. Again, this team played hard all day won and all you can say is this team is not going any where after 1 freaking game that they won. I said it before and will say it again how about we let it play out. Amazing what happens when you do.

Okay, he did a couple more to help the team win then. Does my big bad bias go away now?
Let's just realize the starting QB can't just have a needle that is oscillating slightly north of "neutral". Jones has got to play better and do it more consistently. That INT in the end zone was just scary to watch and is why that 5th year option wasn't exercised...
My wife and teenage daughter were flying (Jetblue with live TV) back from FL during this game. They landed and were taxiing to gate, when TENN missed the FG. My daughter screamed "YESSSSS" super loud and totally embarrassed herself. Made me so proud!
I agree, this will be the game people talk about when they say this was the game that turned the Giants franchise back in the right direction. Regardless, of the record this year, this helped take some of the tarnish off of us.

You are going over-the-top here. I agree he'll probably be gone next year but this "almost lost" garbage is comical. Might as well take away the Giants 4 Super Bowl wins because you can look back and say "they almost blew it," right?
It's unreal with many of you- you use the word "almost" as if that has any meaning. "Almost" - I love it!! Anything to bash the guy. Hahahaha - unreal.
And as for your comment about posters comparing Jones to Brady-- > 100% anyone that does deserves to be laughed at/ ridiculed. -- But on the flipside what about all the nutjobs that bring up Burrow vs Jones?
For the 1,000,000th time some need to realize no one other than maybe for a few lunatics has said Jones is Burrow so comparing one vs the other just so they can take a swipe at Jones is also lunacy. It's like saying Dan Marino sucks because he hasn't accomplished what Tom Brady has.

Nope. You are making things up about the internal clock to justify a faulty opinion. Jones is a pro he has to have an internal clock going all the time. Not just "select times." You just don't on and off an internal clock when the football is your hands.
And again - not every time a QB gets hit behind does he fumble. To assume Jones "should" is ridiculous.

He was hit many times yesterday, he only fumbled once. The hit that got laid on him many QB's will fumble. There is no faulty opinion on an internal clock. ask any QB who has ever played the game it is instilled in them through coaching. Some do not need to have instilled in them. You are entitled to your opinion but it is very flawed.

If they were available I would. No QB in their right mind would turn off and on an internal clock in the manner you suggest. You've made it up and continue to do so. No skin off my back.
As for your most QB comment, you're right. Most QB's without an internal clock, without situational awareness, and without other factors, will fumble.
FUCK YES, BABY!!!!!
That was FUN
Yeah
Daboll has fucking balls
He actually played better then anticipated!
Wtf did I just watch?! 🤯🤯🤯
Love those dirty fucking runs Barkley! Stay dirty my dawg and keep Barking!
Let’s fucking gooooooooooooooo!
Yeah, for real
Jones made mistakes, but he also made plays. He is a lot better than the haters let on. He also showed a lot of guts with those runs at the end.
The OL started run blocking a lot better once Eze came in at the half
Unreal.
Feels great!
Some of you go dust off your golf clubs and free up your Sundays!
Great call by the coach, that's how you make your bones with players and the league.
Great win for a new regime.
DJ is still trash
32 carries 238 yards. SB gave one tough performance today. Everything forward.
Well done to the OL. Spotty in PB but they just put together a outstanding effort on the NFL's number 1 run D.
With balls of steel. Made me hard just watching it 😀
When Barkley had the ball batted out from behind, where was the ball placed down? Where it went out of bounds? Or where the ball was first whacked out?
Lots to clean up, but wow. Need someone to get to the QB and holmes to stop holding.
All I wanted was competitive. Old guys come through - Barkley and Shepard.
I liked him rotating Bredersen and Ezeudu - let them duke it out.
The Titans are better at damn near every position. The run game is their game but today, it was our game. Our coaches made the right adjustments (although I don't know why they didn't start running the ball with the quick passing game). They are making lemonade out of lemons. The Titans were out-coached today.
THIS IS HOW IT STARTS!!!!!
Haha same thing here !
Heck of a way to start the season and I’m sure MetLife will be hopping as much as my living room next week

They had him play off coverage most of the game because Tennessee doesnt throw the ball deep

Was a GREAT call.
Whether it worked or not, the players will LOVE him for it.
Now, that's hope that style of being aggresive in tough spots continues.

It looked mighty bleak in the first half, but they hung in there.
And the two-point conversation call took balls.
Similar to Wide Right for SB win… feels like a SB win!
He responded to the “talking to” he got. I’d start the bitching Thursday just to make sure 😂
People just wanna complain.
How much fun can it be to beat down your team all day then proclaim "WE WON!!!"
People need to be patient. Today was a nice gift.
Unreal.
And they didn't have Henry when they were the number one seed.
And we held Henry to 80 something yards. Barkley double him.
There were 3 Titans right near him and the he made a radical cut to his right.
Looked like Dabs and Wink came up with the shuffle play..
Give him a few more pieces this off-season and I think wink might lower Ed in the ny metro area

I just lost my father in January and I just thought the same exact thing as you. Normally we’d be on the phone recapping now. Makes you appreciate how sports can bring a family together.
And yeah, I’ll gladly keep eating crow if Barks keeps playing hard and getting dirty. Fucking hell yeah Saquon!
Let’s fucking GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Please get Thibs and Azeez back - absolutely zero pass rush, even with the blitzes
Where are all the "Barkley must go" people now??? He won this game
Let’s take it a week at a time compadre.
Cannot believe they won this game. Actually apologized to my brother in law Titans fan - but i actually don;t care... lol

RIP to both of your Pops.
We started out a little sloppy/slow .... but, turned it around in the 2nd half.
Not sure I remember the last time I was this happy after a win. That was gutsy ....
Mine, too. He passed away in June at 89. Was a season ticket holder from 1956-2013
Yes, he tried to get Barkley on the back shoulder - but the safety was too far off Barkley.

Daboll dancing in the locker room!!!
I was sooooo happy seeing that! This guy just has it imo. For the first time in a while I really cant wait to go to the stadium Sunday
Same here!
Anyway looks like Daboll is the real deal
glad the camera caught that - that was legendary

This was my biggest fear! Unbelievable job holding this guy back! Very happy right now!!!

Nice to see the Giants win on opening day, it's been awhile!

We had all the momentum and emotion to go for it. Plus making it put additional pressure on Tenn!!
I wouldn't go that far, lol, but it felt great.
I gave up years offa my life for that Norwood kick and the one by Bahr the week before in San Fran. I'm sure I'm not the only one who did too.

Barkley has been unable to play like that for awhile, and he busted his butt getting back to form - and beyond

Yeah , I think Coughlin might have done that. Shurman or Judge - not so much.
Not just 1-0, but a win where we just came from behind after some excellent halftime adjustments (when was the last time we did that?) and gutted out a huge win in the home of the AFC's #1 seed....
Biggest win in years for this team

When Barkley had the ball batted out from behind, where was the ball placed down? Where it went out of bounds? Or where the ball was first whacked out?
Where it was whacked out of his hands...

For this team, this franchise, at this moment, it was 100% the right call.
Don't worry they will be back next week - hoping that we lose.
Because when we win - that threatens their genius football knowledge and puts a hole in their argument of why they should be running the team.

It was where it went OB. The 25. Only comes back to spot of fumble inside two minutes or on fourth down.
Amazing outcome.
What a horrible day for kickers,
Congrats, especially, to Daboll for getting his first win and showing some serious brass balls.
What a feeling!!!
Daboll dancing in the locker room!!!

Ball went OB on the 12 yard line mot the 25.
I'm not going to armchair nitpick anything with only 1 data point, just going to sit back and soak it in, it's been a while.

I agree, but there is A LOT more differences than that :)

Maybe TC in the same situation year 1 trying to change the losing mentality/culture but definitely not JJ.
I also felt going for the win was a good call.
Beat a good team on the road. Great comeback.
Barkley ran hard.
Wide Left. Also 47 yards!
what's it been 5 years since an opening game win!
Amazing outcome.
What a horrible day for kickers,
Congrats, especially, to Daboll for getting his first win and showing some serious brass balls.
You're being a bit selective.
First downs were equal. Giants held a huge advantage in rushing yards. And 3rd conversions? Titans were 3-of-11.
We actually have a running game again!
Offense runs through Saquan. OL is significantly better run blocking than pass blocking. I prefer pss heavy but you hbo with efficiency. Spread them out, at least show the potential to pass but feed Barkley.
That's a no from me dog!

WHo doesn't miss wide receivers as a QB?
With that said, yes he still has a ton to improve on. The fumble and the interception that late without pressure can't happen.

Barkley looked better than he had in years. Great win!
Coaches made serious game plan changes at half time to run the football on offense.
Everyone on BBI enjoy this win tonight
Go Giants!!!!
The Int was on him, the fumble was bad luck from a sack that came through to easily.
Toney and Robinson were expected to be big portions of today and we're not. Instead we had Jones and James connecting a lot.
I think Jones can be effective in this offense. It will be good to see when our OL gets more time together..

And, as others pointed out, some of the stats you listed as being "negative", were very misleading (ie, they were 2-10 on third down, but titans were 3-11 so not much better). It was spotted at the 25. Where it went out. It only comes back to the spot of the fumble inside of 2 minutes or on fourth down.
Why do people say things like this so confidently without checking?
The ball was spotted at the 25, which is where it was knocked free. It went out closer to the 10. I don’t know the rule well enough to know if this is wrong or right, but what happened is not what you described.

You could tell on one of the TD drives they didn’t want to have him throwing the ball. If it wasn’t for Saqoun looking like rookie year Saqoun they might not have scored double digits today.
It’s ok to admit that and enjoy the win.

If understanding the game and trying to look at the game comprehensively is my "narrative" then guilty.
What I wrote is a good thing - we won even though we were on the wrong side of key indicators that typically decide NFL games.
3) impressive to hold the Titans to 20 pts without KT and AO
4) more Kadarius, please
Agreed. If we can add a dynamic linebacker and improve the secondary this offseason wink could put together a top 5 defense
Jones isn’t a riddle. He’s not a franchise qb worth a big contract or some dog shit qb holding you back. He’s ok. I don’t understand all the debate at all.
Same here.
Joyful.
This was my first thought when he missed that kick
Quote:
But try to be objective. The pick was absolutely indefensible and a terrible decision. On the other hand the fumble is completely on the O line and not him. Blindside hit where 75 whiffed. That is not on QB.

That is very accurate but the detractors can't even admit that.
Who is the new dude with the red dred s
I agree with you, also this shows that he can actually make adjustments at halftime.
Yeah, kind of odd. I don’t think they even mentioned Daboll when they talked about new head coache’s first win
How many blocked passes did he have on their last drive?
Quote:
Talked up Vikes and Bears wins.....No mention of the Giants

I wonder if they cover any of our games this year and that is why
Agreed. For whatever reason people are always ready to jump into 1000+ thread with Jones arguments... lol. People can't even enjoy a f**king win. And really a great and satisfying win at that. I'm happy. We got plenty of work to do but I have a HUGE grin on my face right now.
slightly easier sledding week to week, keep in mind this was one of the tougher games they will play, this team is going to score 21+ every week.
One of the few games I've even noticed he was out there. Today was what they've been expecting out of him.
I saw that, I mean c'mon........the Giants win should be BIG news. It was an upset and was the gutsy call of the day.
Maybe they didn't want to embarrass Garret?? ;)
Make sure to include Holmes in those classes as well. *grin*
great win, hard to say anything other than that.
amazing to see a team get better as a game goes on instead of worse. the first few drives felt very familiar but wink pulled it together even without much pass rush. they hit and played physical. and the OL got it together in a hostile situation.
honestly still having a hard time believing they won. im a daniel jones fan and that int was the worst ball i can remember him throwing. i think he played a bunch of better games last year with worse stats so the fact that they pulled this one out speaks to the offensive philosophy now. it's modern football and that provides more margin for error. i think what we saw today is the floor on him, which is ironically pretty Tannehill-ish.

WTF are you talking about, can't fumble there? Simmons is a beast and was abusing our interioe all game (especially in the 1st half). He went completely around Ezeudu there, blindsiding the QB.
What a coaching job in the second half. They actually looked like an NFL Football team. Good Saquon. Shut my ass up today.
Preach! That and going for 2 showed this team who the fuck he is!

Your kidding me right? Our rookie Guard wiffed on him on the blindside. What exactly was he supposed to feel? Take your hate of DJ out of any analysis please.
I wonder what that looks like with Kayvon and Azeez back in there.
Also we need to find a cheap vet corner to help the young guys.
4) Was the sack/fumble on Ezeudu or Thomas? Hard to tell.

You would expect there to be some benefit given Daboll's expertise. I loved seeing him get in Jones' face after that bad INT. Can't have plays like that.

In this case is it possible Daboll decided enough was enough and to stick with Ezeudu after that point?

Okay, he did a couple more to help the team win then. Does my big bad bias go away now?
Let's just realize the starting QB can't just have a needle that is oscillating slightly north of "neutral". Jones has got to play better and do it more consistently. That INT in the end zone was just scary to watch and is why that 5th year option wasn't exercised...
I agree, this will be the game people talk about when they say this was the game that turned the Giants franchise back in the right direction. Regardless, of the record this year, this helped take some of the tarnish off of us.
