Slayton over Golladay?

bluewave : 9/16/2022 8:13 am
The Talkin Giants Carolina game preview is up!

In that video and in their Titan film review, they are saying Golladay is too damn slow and is primarily being using to run 'clear out' routes. Even that is not going well since he's too slow based on the all-22 film they reviewed.

If that's the case, then just put Slayton in. At least Slayton has speed! Hating the Golladay signing more and more with each passing game...
One of three things ...
FStubbs : 9/16/2022 9:46 am : link
... either he's had some massive injury which has robbed him of his speed, he's dogging it, or he was entirely the creation of Matt Stafford.

Either way ... I'm not sure what he gives us other than less salary cap space.
At this point, I would rather do Judge's patented dive play

over putting effort guys like Golladay out there.
Slayton can't catch

Great news, guys

His cap number means we'll have to carry his ass next year, too!
No it doesn't

You save 6.7 mil against the cap according to OTC. Golladay is putting himself in the same position Shep was in this season. KG will make out better taking a large pay cut than becoming a free agent because no one will offer him much.
Neither play special team

Adding insult to injury

At least Slayton can stretch the field and get open. Contract year. Maybe he will concentrate more on catching the ball.

Golladay gives you nothing, Slayton may give you something.
I still think Slayton will have a big year this year

I just hope he stays healthy
I saw somewhere else

That Golladay average 7 yards of separation vs TEN

As the 7th receiver on the depth chart?

He was inactive last week. A healthy scratch.

No it doesn't. They save over 6 million by cutting him next season.

guess is that Sills, Shepard, Slayton, and Golladay are not here next year. Toney might be gone as well, but as of now IMO, it's too early to tell.

You’re probably right but I think of all of them Shep has a shot. Seems like the new staff’s kind of player and if he produces and stays healthy (big if on healthy) I can see them wanting him back at the right price.

I think it boils down to rather having a guy that tries and can't catch, then a guy who doesn't try and can't catch.

I think his hip injury was far worse than reported; if so, a MASSIVE failure to fully vet it by DG & co.

At least he’ll get open.
If Golladay can't bring more to the table than he did in game 1
chick310 : 9/17/2022 2:17 pm : link
then would start reducing his snaps accordingly.

Let’s see…
STLGiant : 9/17/2022 6:33 pm : link
Slayton can’t catch? How many did he drop this season? How many in the preseason? I seem to remember a quick WR screen where he not only made positive yardage, but did a great job following Neal as a downfield blocker…

Vs.

Golliday has no speed, and;
He can’t get LOS separation, and;
He created a Delay of game by lining up on the wrong side, then dogged it moving to the other side, and;
He cannot in-line or downfield block, and;
He cannot return kickoffs or punts.

Yeah, I’ll take my chances with Slayton any freaking day of the week!
