Sorry if this has been discussed already. Feel free to kill it or move it. But 2 snaps in week 1 and hurt again now. Dave Gettleman is the gift that keeps giving. Wasted a pick on this guy who's taking a roster spot from players like Alex Bachman.
Chess master's want you to think theres open gaps too. Did you not see Tony break the guuts and ancle last Sunday with his minor juke? He still got it.
If Judge can make Tony put over 180 yards a fame.... Dabol is rubbing his hands looking like birdman Tony 189 yards vs cowgirls - ( New Window )
But I'm not writing KT89 off yet. Also, he could still play this week. I would guess not, but it's possible. With some injuries, recurrence or a re-aggravation of the injury happens easier than a first injury to the same area. Hamstrings are definitely one.
I won't beat up on a guy who's hurt. It's football, it's a physically demanding sport, and you can't avoid it sometimes.
It's easy to get frustrated when you see the superlative talent but never get to enjoy it on game day.
My concern with Toney is that there's something else going on in the background where as JonC said, he's heard he hasn't earned the coaches' trust.
That may be just bc he hasn't been able to practice hardly at all, but I think a player would still get respect if he's doing everything he can in terms of the mental side of the game and rehabbing and going about your business in a professional way.
There's still time for him but he must get on the field and be a playmaker.
If Barkley, Jones, and Thomas all turn into legacy pieces on this team
It's going to be hilarious watching people tie themselves up in knots trying to shit all over Gettleman while conveniently forgetting this.
That trade gave us Thibs / neal with Tony. I wanted Smith but it worked out way better and Tony still a beast don't sleep on him. May even have better year then smith
Its funny how cowgirls got wrecked by Tony after they the ones who
Toney said he has a lot to prove this year. But the only thing he’s proving is once he is again getting paid to ride a bike.
Paycheck player but not a football player.

the season play out and maybe the whole season before declaring anything..was it Terry Glen that was always injured early on for Parcells at New England.
Have to admit that wearing that balaclava all the time is a strange look for him.
No. A high draft pick that hasn’t worked out yet, yes.
You can label him a bust when and if the team moves on from him and he never goes on to a good career with another team
A new coach can not cater to talent and potential over performance and availability, that s a pathway to a losing culture, Daboll is doing what he has to do.
Tony is proving to be very fragile or as JonC suggest is not committed to be a good pro, either way, if not corrected soon, will lead to your assumption to being correct
have a ton of confidence in Toney. He's had a rough entry into the league, but his talent is undeniable. The situation has been frustrating, but I don't see any reason to believe that he won't be a major contributor to the offense this year.
+1
I watched nearly all of his U of F games because my daughter happened to be in the same graduating class. Pitts is the guy who seemed to have gotten picked up by the national media, but KT was the star of that offense.
He was hurt his whole rookie seaso. Played amazingly well when in the game. Now new regime we are entering week 2. Can we please wait on all the crazy talk. I heard someone say I hope KT5 isn’t a bust and often injured. That dude is a game into his nfl career. Take it easy guys it’s a long season
More of the BBI obsession to say the most negative thing possible
Is there any player or part of this team that folks haven’t jumped to criticize. I’d put a list together but it would be easier to find the few things that haven’t seen the wrath of the posters here. I get it it’s an opinion board and we’ve sucked. But we are supposed to be fans.
There seems to be this feeling that KT has no trust with the coaches, or that he’s not putting in the mental work required to play. .
Maybe that’s true, but one of his two plays was an option double pass. First of all, he was smart enough to recognize coverage and not throw (and still make a decent something from nothing). But the coaches giving him that play tells me they can’t think of him as a know-nothing disaster. That’s a big trust play, where a less thoughtful player lets the pass rip.

My confidence level is low in him at the moment and my expectations are only that we’ll see flashes from him and not consistent play.
But no, 1 game into season 2 and he’s on his 2nd coaching staff. Not calling him a bust yet. He clearly has the talent and there’s still time for him to turn it around and become a consistent player.

Gano. Fans seem to like Gano...
And Thomas, but there are probably some weirdos here so emotionally invested in hating anything related to DG that they would be happy to see him fail.
Toney has to prove to coaches that Football is his number one priority
Until that happens we will continue to question his commitment to the game
No doubt he is a gifted athlete but commitment to football was a big question on Toney going into the draft
But I think at the same point in time both Tiki and Toomer weren't looking like much. Jury is still out on KT. He has flashed way too much to call him a bust.
One way or the other. But as of right now, it’s looking like he will bust. He has talent, but the work ethic required to play at this level isn’t there.
RE: RE: RE: More of the BBI obsession to say the most negative thing possible

If you remember, folks here were killing Thomas and the pick last year after a preseason game against the Pats.

Yet, that’s not what we hear from Daboll about him (not that he would say that if it were true.)
endear himself to the fanbase. If he can string together some performances that will change in an instant. Football is a what have you done for me lately sport. Toney has done next to nothing.
It's not too soon. Your banking on character he doesn't possess to catch up with talent and ability that he does and there is zero sign of that ever happening. Only the Brigadas de Pollyanna hold out hope for this clown, or joka, if you prefer.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up having a really good
A highly skilled and explosive player that was beset by injuries his whole career that caused him to never reach his full potential.
or he might be a lazy bastid that doesn't like to practice a game that is just a side hustle to his real interest, his career as yung joka. Guy's a bum.
I also have a hard time labelling a guy a bust due to injuries before he has a chance to show anything. It is absolutely frustrating with him. I would think his 2 carries on Sunday would have gotten him some more snaps this week. The injury is a setback. But, his interview the other day was all the right things. He seemed to have the right attitude and the reporters kept trying to bait him into a negative comment. He wasn't biting, which is a good sign for everyone.
My confidence level in him was low the second he was drafted all
I had to do was read Sy's draft report on him. So as far as I m concerned he's got no where to go but up. Right now he s in neutral. The engines running but he ain't moving. My expectation is what we see right now is what we get and so far he hasn't done anything stupid we know of off the field.

So the 7 total snaps he got in game one, even with W Robinson out with injury, aren't a reason in your view?
I don’t believe Toney is really injured. If he was, he’s not a bust strictly speaking. if he refuses to play through some normal nicks, that’s different.
Nagging hamstring kept him on the sidelines in the beginning of his giants career, when he finally got on the field that one handed catch against dallas changed everything……let KT be ready for dallas next week!

Daboll isn’t going to rip the guy publically. But the way Toney was handled last weekend tells you all you need to know about how Daboll feels about Toney.
Player friendly HC and he still can’t find the field. I’m not sure why people are still discussing the talent when it doesn’t seem to be supported with drive.
He barely knows the playbook and we’re in September.

That he is savvy enough not to publicly slit his own throat like a moron is a sign of nothing other than a well developed sense of self preservation.

you mean before even desperate Mara had enough of him and unloaded his ass for being a headcase?
RE: If Toney is a problem, Brian Daboll gets paid over a million dollars
At this point I want him to make 100 catch this year and put out 2 mix-tapes and start dating iggy azalea.
All while being filmed in the club at 1am every Saturday night just to watch BBI collective heads to exploded.
Can we just let it play out...
RE: If Barkley, Jones, and Thomas all turn into legacy pieces on this team
too early to tell. Let's see what happens over at least the first half of the season. On the one hand, he's absolutely electric when he's on the field. On the other, he's rarely on the field, and JonC says the coaches are frustrated with what they perceive as his lack of commitment to football. He's certainly had a rock beginning, some of it his own doing, but I just feel we need to give him more time.
Connect the dots with this guy. Every time he gets close to “really” getting on the field, he tweaks this or that, his hammy “tightens up” or some other crap. The Dallas game last year was an aberration. THIS is who he is.
They are trying to build a team of “Smart, tough, dependable”. Toney has ZERO chance to be the later 2. If they could have cut or traded him already, they would have. I’m confident in that. Schoen and Daboll aren’t screwing around. If you don’t show you are part of the solution DAMN quick, they will get your ass out of here. Guys like Toney, Golladay and frankly, Jones are here because of contract.
Daboll tried the bonding tact with Toney in the off season, he continues to try positive reinforcement as a means to get through to him. Playing through minor injuries is life in the NFL. Toney isn’t willing to.
and not play him. If he's dressed he needs to play more than 7 snaps. When he was playing he played hard and he was electric. There are plenty of jackasses in the league that play and produce. He has shown when he get the playing time he produces. His health has been an issue.
Its year 2, he hasnt been a problem with his mouth. Play the guy. Him and Saquon could be an amazing tandem.
Toney has to earn his opportunities to get on the field and he’ll either play himself on or off the team. The clock is ticking on everyone, including Toney.

Great athlete, but a head case until proven otherwise.

Yes, that's how it works. Thought you knew that, old timer.

You do actually. But I have plenty already so let's do the old wait n' see...

Well then DG deserves shit for letting himself get talked out of a pick by Joe Judge.
What's the purpose of suggesting otherwise...

A GM should find the players the coaches want.
A GM should also hire good coaches - although in the case of the Giants its pretty clear Mara/Tisch are heavily involved.
Do you create legacy pieces in the room?

There is a very unnatural attachment for some around here to AB.
What’s this then?

This is the post of decade my man.
Like he could have played more than 7 snaps or lead the receivers in reception like blue goose premium pick Richie James!
Its year 2, he hasnt been a problem with his mouth. Play the guy. Him and Saquon could be an amazing tandem.
2- Don’t have the competitiveness to succeed at this level.
Toney seems to have 1 and 2 - just needs more maturity and discipline
I remember reading that Judge wanted Toney and Gettleman wanted Parsons
To date though, Toney has done nothing to lead anyone to believe he'll be a great player. Potential is nothing if you aren't available to use it.
