"Iona Prep (New Rochelle, NY) rallied from behind on the road and stunned the New Jersey state power on Ajani Sheppard's touchdown run with 68 seconds remaining to win in a 42-35 thriller."
I'm neither a fan of Iona or Don Bosco. I am seriously allergic to prep sports programs that load up their rosters with bought athletes from surrounding communities. It's a bad look all around.

really? you are against recruitment? all great sports programs are built around that
Bosco hasn't lived up to the hype so far. Something is off with the defense - given up 80 points in two games. Maybe they were looking ahead to next week against Bergen Catholic but they haven't defended all season.

Yes... at the high school level definitely against recruitment. Prep schools reaching into adjacent neighborhoods (not to mention across state lines) for star athletes is not a good thing. It places way too much emphasis on "winning" at all costs. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer high school athletics to be all about local town unity and pride with very fine athletes distributed amongst their home community -- not bought up and thrown into a football/sports mill.
it sure looks like Carmel High School (Section 1) is still the beast of large school (AA) football, and you can probably pencil them in right now as repeat New York State Champions.

U"m with you M.S.
NIL money is just starting to hit the HS level it will only get worse especially in basketball. If the NBA goes to straight from HS the money will be crazy.
Football is next and already happening in these big football programs.
or god forbid Bischop Gorman from Vegas who beat a prep Georgia team yesterdfay 70-10. That was with a running clock and the third team in the second half

Bishop Gorman is bankrolled by the Fertitas and Dana White and is the only game in town in the entire state of Nevada. That school is IMG Academy West.
