The NFL trade deadline is still a bit far out, with Nov. 1 circled on plenty of fans’ calendars. Leading up to that day, we’re going to see plenty of rumors and speculation brought up. Could things once again include New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney? Rumors and speculation indeed followed him this offseason, but the G-Men kept him in East Rutherford.
Now, though, there’s plenty of frustration for Toney, as he can’t seem to stay on the field. On top of that, he wasn’t used much in the Week 1 win over Tennessee and people are now waiting to see if he’ll even take the field this Sunday at MetLife Stadium going up against Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers. |

... otherwise there's no reason to have a conversation.
I'd take a 2nd.
A 2nd would be very good compensation if indeed the Giants feel like many fans.
My point is that you don't start a conversation asking for what you want. If they're calling, the Giants have leverage.
Hey, I'm all for getting whatever we can. I think Toney has great talent but for whatever reason, whether injury or desire, there seems to be a problem here, sadly.
Never going to happen at that price...
What say you GB?

X 100.
We'd be lucky at this point to get a third day pick.
Why would any trade partner reward us for a player who can't play?
What say you GB?
So far this season that looks like a top 5 pick!

take him.
I'll take a late 6th rounder.
There's not liking a player and then there's this.

I wouldn’t. I d rather take a chance on him figuring it out, staying on the field, and becoming a consistent playmaker for the Giants
You don’t give up quickly on talent.
+1
And only because we refuse to play him, not because I don't like the player. Me and Milton were battling over his cock last offseason.
Releasing him is basically impossible, but only because of his guaranteed salary; the acceleration of his signing bonus would count against the 2023 cap (except for what is already on the books for the 2022 cap). But a trade would push the guaranteed salary to the acquiring team, so it would represent a savings of $1.2M this year (1/18 of his salary has already been paid, so there's no relief for that) and the dead money resulting from Toney's signing bonus would count against the cap next year.
Toney can't be cut this year. He can be traded. And if you ultimately want to cut him badly enough this year, you may have to consider trading him for pennies just to get his contract assumed elsewhere.
The worst potential outcomes would be having to either attach draft capital to get rid of him via trade or have to make other cap maneuvers to get rid of him via release. That's a doomsday scenario that I don't see happening. But I do think the return for him in a trade could be a lot lower than some fans expect.

don't see us trading Toney, but thought we couldn't anyway because of the cap hit from doing so. These kinds of rumors are fairly common among fans, especially in the age of the internet, but are rarely correct.

Thanks. I agree we'd likely not get nearly as much as people here seem to think we would. As I said, any final judgment regarding Toney is extremely premature. Let's at least wait until the bye.
His skills with the ball in is hands are crazy good. Daboll cant praise him in the press and ten not play him. If hes active you use him. There are plenty of examples of jackass WRs that produce on the field. He produces on the field.
Probably anything but interesting. Pot. Pot. Pot. Aliens.

The same meme and coach and moment that saw Philly prematurely trade Cris Carter to the Vikings?
No, Carter had off the field issues with alcohol. Even Carter admitted that Buddy Ryan did him a favor in the long run.
He got his act together with the Vikes.
I am no Buddy Ryan fan, just to be clear, didn't like him.
