ROSTER MOVES 9/17

Activated from Practice Squad:

DB Tony Jefferson
DB Fabian Moreau

Giants confirmed that they’re elevating Moreau and Jefferson. So they’re rolling with just three OLB (Ward, Ximines and Fox). Expect some funky third-down packages with extra DBs to combat Carolina’s weapons.
I like it.

Use Moreau’s first elevation this week, while Aaron Robinson is out. Two veteran DBs with lots of experience in the Pees/Martindale scheme should help prevent busted coverages (one of several stupid ways we could lose this game).

Curious to see the snap counts this week for guys like Fox and McFadden. Fox seems to be cementing a big role: he played a lot last week, and not elevating Roche suggests that Wink is comfortable with his one UDFA.

As expected, Jihad Ward is a key man in this defense - especially against a player like CMC who threatens the edges.
Thanks for update

All hands on deck in the secondary this week...
I pray that calitro

Plays less and McFadden more. I don’t get how calitro was on the field on the final drive of the game. His AA, or lack thereof, should be grounds for him benched on obvious pass downs. McFadden is a better blitzer, tougher at the POA, and much better in coverage. Rookie or not that was a crazy decision imo

This week, Vs a back like cmc, we need athletes on the field. McKinney should see a lot of time near the box

As I said in my preview, I bet you we only see one ILB (Crowder) for much of the game.
Love this

Mayfield is going to be so confused tomorrow with these DB’s flying in his face left and right on blitzes.
Who is the 7th inactive?

My guess is one of the OLineman or RB’s

Also, noticing the Giants are a bit light at Edge this game. Carrying only 3 true edge defenders (Oshane, Ward and a UDFA Fox). I know he’s listed as doubtful, but is there a chance Kayvons knee felt really good today and he may be able to give it a go? Just seems weird to go into a game with 5 safeties and only 3 edge defenders (esp considering that teams often rotate players in at that spot to keep the pass rush fresh)

You may see LW as an edge rusher as an option.

Carter Coughlin can also play the edge if needed. Not ideal though. Maybe Thibs will surprise us and be good for 3rd and long situations.
