I thought Wink was a great hire but damn

Ten Ton Hammer : 9/18/2022 4:07 pm
Squeezing out a 16 point defensive performance with no pass rushers and backup corners is something else.
I was worried about

over blizting but he has been crafty with it ....
Amazing what a competent Coaching Staff

Yup, seems we haven’t actually blitzed too much, but he dialed up a couple great ones when it counted most
Wink is the real deal..
prdave73 : 9/18/2022 4:09 pm : link
Making it still happen with no Pass Rush?? damn..
Yes

I'm with you.

I'm admittedly a PG fan who thought Martindale would struggle with our talent.

I was wrong. All hale Wink. :)
XMAN wow

Shows you the importance of scheme and coaching
Wink is doing a great job with this defense

Players love his system.
Great post

That was one of the best coaching performances I’ve seen in awhile, not just Wink..but whole staff. It’s a pretty awesome feeling when you feel like your coaches are outsmarting the guys on the opposing sideline, coaches squeezed every ounce out of those players today. Unbelievable.
Wink won the game for them!
Gman11 : 9/18/2022 4:16 pm : link
You know how? Not going to a stupid prevent defense! That sack was something we haven't seen in a long time. Just keep in mind how many point they gave up at the end of the game last year and compare it to these first two games.

The only sad part about it is I'm afraid Wink is gone after this year if they keep playing like this.
i was kind of luke warm on wink but holy crap is he impressive
Eric on Li : 9/18/2022 4:19 pm : link
his old team just gave up 42 and blew a big lead at home too.

He is making chicken salad out of chicken shit. Well, the whole coaching staff is for the most part.
It is nice
Fred in Atlanta : 9/18/2022 4:20 pm : link
not seeing the three man rush with the other team driving to win the game.
Yes BBI, Coaching matters

Same, I still worry about it against great QBs but I’ve really liked seeing his style so far. The pressure with the game on the line was so nice to see after years of soft D in similar situations.
Great defensive sffort, a few breakdowns but they played well.
Jack Stroud : 9/18/2022 4:30 pm : link
I am concerned about Leonard Williams, him not being on the field is huge loss. They will definitely need him next week when they play the cowturds.
The blitz schemes are so good
Vanzetti : 9/18/2022 4:31 pm : link
Sending Jordan against the talented but inexperienced OT? So smart
Huge effort...
bw in dc : 9/18/2022 4:32 pm : link
by the secondary. That is where the game was won.
I know he got burned on the TD
cosmicj : 9/18/2022 4:34 pm : link
But Flott looked the part other times. Very curious to read Sy’s breakdown of his day.
I thought Flott competed

pretty well. Good learning experience for him. Another good draft pick. Schoen did pretty well this draft. Guys that can contribute.
I feel like guys
BigBlue in Keys : 9/18/2022 4:56 pm : link
know what they are supposed to be doing this year and not looking lost. Keep it up!
The entire team gutted one out today
mattlawson : 9/18/2022 5:02 pm : link
Finished strong. I don’t care if it’s high school, college or the pros do you want to finish better than you start and that team certainly did today
Defense likes that kind of coaching
MeanBunny : 9/18/2022 5:02 pm : link
Its high risk gambling, but everyone likes to gamble and win. The bend-don't-break-defense is hard to get excited about. Now our offense, yikes
Very impressed with him
Lines of Scrimmage : 9/18/2022 5:15 pm : link
I also think the Giants have more talent than some still think. The great thing is they are very young so you still have a lot of upside. One more draft and FA they can move well into upper tier territory.

I get the concern with upper tier QB's and WR's but we also have our two best pass rushers coming back so he can dial back a little on blitzes if need be.

Belton seemed to play well also. D and STs
There hasn't been much QB pressure
David B. : 9/18/2022 5:58 pm : link
even when he's blitzed (which is understandable with Ojulari and Thibodeaux out), but the gap discipline and the tackling has been remarkable. Even when the secondary gets beat, they're mostly containing the damage.

Wink's getting a lot out of a D filled with (at the moment) mostly JAGs.

Yeah .... it is interesting to see if Wink learned a bit from being let go in Baltimore ... hopefully not to arrogant to think and maybe he see a different perspective. Old dogs that can/will learn new tricks are dangerous.
