in holding opposing QBs to the lowest pass completion percent: 54.8%
We'll find out more about Giants pass defense as the season unfolds but considering there was no pass rush in Game One against the Titans, 54.8% is a very nice figure. As a point of comparison, after first two games last season (against Denver and Washington), opposing QBs had completed 75.6% of their passes!
Coaching makes a difference, and so far Wink Martindale is working miracles. There's no James Bradberry and yesterday the Giants were missing James Bradberry's replacement (due to an appendectomy), and we are missing two important pass rushers in Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari... but there you have it, the Giants are holding opposing QBs to an NFL low 54.8% completion rate!
Yesterday #12 (Shi Smith) dropped what would have been an important first down in first half.
I believe there have been either 22 or 23 attempts against them so far in the two games and them only giving up 5 conversions total is absolutely fantastic! Hell it seemed like we gave up that many in a single drive last season.
Big props to Wink, his staff, and all the players buying in and executing.
Last week, the key was keeping Henry in check....which they did.
This week was McCaffrey....and outside. Of one run, they did that as well

Just saying

I dont think he would of got it, Mckinney was coming like a missile to deliver a hit
I think you will se Ward move inside more on passing downs and against spread offenses..

Agree . But also need to consider we did it without our two best LB and starting corner. This D is much more alert and aggressive than what we have been seeing the past few years .
Are we going around the league and counting drops against everyone else? Or just the Giants? Just asking
I bet Denver feels the same about Fangio
We are learning to win games instead of finding ways to lose.

Look no further than last year when we played passive against Baker. Did he complete 80% against us last year?

Third down conversion percentage is, in my opinion, one of the most important statistics in football.
This is a huge defensive difference from the past five years.
There are drops in every game and everyone’s stats are reflecting that. Now maybe we can look at how awful Baker was. Even with a clean pocket he was missing guys who were wide open.
I don't know, the Ravens real problems are injuries, still.
The injuries they sustained last year - these guys still aren't playing. They have garbage tackles right now, their line in general isn't what it used to be. They can't keep their corners healthy - it's like our wide receivers of late. Their running backs (JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards) are still out. This matters since ball control is really their calling card.
Ravens defense had its worst numbers in a long time last year, but this was also not Wink's fault.
Time will tell, but I don't think the demise of the Ravens defense is as near as some might think.
