No untimely or uncoordinated use of time outs
No stupid penalties that shoot us in the foot
No massive influx of game changing turnovers. Even when Jones throws a bone head pass (late first half yesterday) he rebounds quite nicely.
From a talent perspective, we are perhaps marginally better than last year. I was at the game yesterday. The eye test wasn't pleasing, to put it lightly in the first half. Boos were raining down.
The difference? This team adapts and re-schemes in the second half, which is the hallmark of a good coaching staff. They kept their head down and grinded out the win. A Judge led team yesterday loses that game, in my honest opinion.
The little things matter, and both Daboll and Wink seem to have it very much under control. Wink may be the biggest signing we have had in a while. The guy is tremendous.
Get them sone talent & we’ll have something.
The difference in coaching is startling. IMHO, this staff is more organized then even TC's.
And, going back to Parcells' days, I see Daboll barking at players during the game.
Wink and the D have been outstanding.
I don’t pretend that I as a fan can judge play calling quality based on watching the game except for egregious mistakes. Fans simply don’t have enough information.
This may sound petty but a certain play from the past has made me paranoid about this situation.
People tend to adjust their perspective based on W/L record.
I’m loving Daboll. Let’s say it- this guy may be the next great franchise coach.
The offense went better...after they started going downfield....as Carolina had bottled up Barkley
I looked down to see how many they had and was very happy to see all three remaining. It’s a small thing but absolutely critical.
It definitely feels like the giants are doing the little things that make up the difference between winning and losing.
Another is the 3rd and 4th down decisions. On third and long they are aggressive and for it. On 4th down they’ve always gone for it when I’ve wanted them to.
We finally seem to have a staff who is up to speed on analytics, game theory and the like.
How many delay of games have we seen over the years? How many burnt time outs wasted because they couldn't get the right personnel on the field? The offense lining up with 8 seconds on the play clock.
We are not killing ourselves with the bone headed and drive killing penalties.
It's 2 games, but we haven't had any unnecessary roughness, personal fouls, roughing the passer or unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. We also have not had any neutral zone infractions.
People tend to adjust their perspective based on W/L record.
But Holmes has done that under three different coaches now, so it's not the coaching, it's Holmes
Basically sums up the new staff in a nutshell.
Organization is in a much better place it seems.

Q: In the first quarter after your second field goal, it looked like that third-down play, the offense wasn’t in the right position. Clock was going down, and then it seemed like you pulled the offense to the side over there. An official came over and talked to you. What did the official talk to you about?
A: All I was saying was look, ‘We got to get in the huddle. We got to hear the play call, and we got to line up properly.’ And that has nothing to do with defense. It has to do with getting in the huddle, hearing the call and get lined up properly just to give yourself a fighting chance at the start of a play. And I thought that we were a little slow out of the huddle, so I just let those guys know that.
