Is it me or the Giants feel very different?
i mean the past couple of coaches found a way to lose the game. I mean literally shot themselves in the foot in a coaching aspect to find some way to lose.
But now, it seems these coaches are just finding ways to win the game. To actually, coach some way to find a play or a scheme that will help them win.
I cant put my finger on it. Thoughts?
My win projection was 7/8, I am not getting too caught up in these first 2 wins, but I do think 9 wins could be attainable for this team. I think they’ll win a few games against teams you wouldn’t expect them to (Tennessee), but I also see them dropping a game or two to teams that are not as good. All I really care about right now is that they look like a competent NFL team for the first time in 6 years.
This is based on Bill James' work 40 years ago for his Baseball Abstract. People assume great teams win close games but the numbers overwhelmingly show that close games are a matter of luck. But great teams dominate lopsided affairs.

We're not a great team. We're a rebuilding team.
You really have to pour cold water on everything?

How did this work out for the ‘07 Patriots who largely beat teams by 20-30 points each week? So the 1990 Giants weren’t a great team because they only beat the Niners by 2 and Bills by 1? These are professional leagues, no one is going to blow out everyone for the duration of a season. Especially in the salary cap era.

Pathetic teams, which the Giants have been, lose games like yesterday s.
Winning teams, which are he Giants s are at the moment, win them; that’s the point.

When we start blowing some teams out, then you'll know we've turned a corner.

I'm just pointing out the data that says winning close games is a matter of luck.

The point is incorrect.

What's your point? That the Pats, a great team in 07, lost the Super Bowl? Any team can lose any one game.
You caught that too, huh?
:)

If the Giants win 9 games after the last 5 years of futility, Schoen and Daboll will be Executive of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Preperation is the key to coaching
Totally agree. I was somewhat shocked we won yesterday. I think I have become numb to our ability to pull out wins, and unfortunately used to us being a really poor team.
We cannot accept anything less than a 100% effort. This is likely why you see KG sitting in the bench. We are better off with guys who are going to try to win

Giants have gotten some good bounces this year. Muffed punt by TENN and fumbled kickoff by Carolina. About time we got some good luck
