My son saw this earlier today on either Twitter or IG. Had not realized it. Pretty cool.
* Terrance Gore played in 9 games for the 2015 KC Royals. They won the World Series.
* Terrance Gore played in 2 games for the 2020 LA Dodgers. They won the World Series.
* Terrance Gore played in 1 game for the 2021 Atlanta Braves. They won the World Series.
* Terrance Gore has played in 5 game for the 2022 NY Mets. ...
Very bizarre stats for the 31-year-old Gore in his full career. He has 15 base hits (2 doubles, 1 triple) in 69 official ABs (79 plate appearances). He's walked 7 times and struck out 25.
But that's not why he keeps popping up. Gore has 43 steals (3-for-3 as a Met, so far).
Mercenary!

On to tonight's game, 7:40 p.m. start.
Max returns (9-4, 2.26) v. Corbin Burnes (10-7, 2.97). Battle of the Cy awards.
LFG!
Hiya Dan. Hope you're well. In what capacity would they bring Beltran back though?

may bring Beltran back to the organization next season

Greetings to you as well. Per Ragazzo Buck wanted to add Beltran to his staff last season but the FO shot it down. Sounds like Beltran could either join Buck's staff or serve as a special assistant type (as he did with Cashman). Beltran returned to CitiField last week for the Clemente festivities which many took as a positive in terms of his relationship with the Mets. Hopefully, one way or another that relationship is mended.
According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, Carlos Beltran may be a candidate to be re-hired by the organization this upcoming offseason.
"The New York Mets will strongly consider bringing Carlos Beltran back to the organization this winter ... Mets manager Buck Showalter wanted to interview Beltran to be on his coaching staff this year, but was denied by management. Yet, one year later, the Mets plan to welcome Beltran back in the organization."
The Mets welcomed back Beltran to Citi Field last week on Roberto Clemente Day, in which he spoke with team owner Steve Cohen.

Mets roster moves are now official:
-Max Scherzer and Tylor Megill have been activated from the IL
-Stephen Nogosek and Alex Claudio have been optioned
-The Mets also plan to activate Drew Smith tomorrow, so they'll need to make another move then

Crazy i think we had speculated about beltran as a bench coach for buck. that seems like a really good fit even though it will be annoying to have the "manager in waiting" narrative for a few years.

Max Scherzer won't be going "real deep" tonight, per Buck Showalter. Scherzer threw 59 pitches in his rehab start last week and will be "between 70 and 100" tonight, Showalter said somewhat tongue-in-cheek. It'll probably be closer to the former than the latter.

I wish Peterson was available tonight (I'm assuming he's not, correct me if I'm wrong). Trevor Williams, come on down!
Looking way way ahead and assuming injuries plus we not having choked prior the Mets have Bassit, degrom and max lined up for braves series.

Expected to be a bullpen day as that's what they did in this spot last week (and won).

That's what I think too (in that order) based on how things have lined up.
agreed but that won't stop the phrase from being used by every beat writer in their first article reporting his hiring.

Anyone know what Pete's hitting stats for the 2nd half vs 1st half are?
My sense is he has not hit as well in the 2nd half.
hopefully megill follows peterson's lead and looks good out of the pen. those 2 could be real difference makers in the post season.
3 of the homers in the last 7 days counting tonights and now on a 7 game RBI streak.

Here is a partial list of his splits. What a significant difference. I think this may be the biggest factor in why the Mets have cooled off in the 2 nd half.
G AB PA H 1b 2B 3b HR R RBI BB IBB AV
2022 1st Half 92 344 395 91 52 15 0 24 50 78 34 7 .265
2022 2nd Half 55 206 235 56 35 10 0 11 31 37 25 8 .272
7 to break it.
I may be misunderstanding what I'm reading, but the 2nd half looked much better, even allowing for fewer games in the 2nd half.
HR's: Twice as many
Doubles: 50% more
Runs: Almost twice as many
Am I misreading this? If so, my mistake.

just the first half seemed longer than usual making it not exactly a half

the first half had 92 games this year, if you look at the "ratio stats" instead of the counting stats the 1st half is slightly better, but not a ton.

OK, Thanks😊
Need to save some for the Braves series though.
I really like Megill, and I feel badly for him. I hope he can settle down and pitch like he has the potential to pitch.
+1, but I suppose bucky wants to be safe rather than sorry.

Totally get it. But Mets have never had a perfect game. Bummer.

Speedy, I know, I feel the same way, how exciting it would have been.
LOL, Speedy, they're continuing the chair schtick.
Cohen said something on the broadcast about possible next week but a couple days ago it was being reported it could be season ending.
So I basically have no clue at this point
