Don't think he's wrong, but this is one of those "Franchise QB responsibilities" things that he needs to understand. He also needs to know who he is and how he's played. Aaron Rodgers saying this is one thing and still not a smart quote, Justin Fields though? Their fans won't be too happy.

He’s not “wrong” but it’s a shitty thing to say. The fans are the reason all these guys can be independent contractors making millions of dollars.
No Bears fan is going to care if he fulfills his promise. He is physically gifted. But that won't matter if he doesn't play with more precision.
But I absolutely would have no qualms with taking CJ Stroud. Every prospect is different and whether or not Fields fails at the NFL level means nothing as it pertains to Stroud's future success or failure.
If I was a Bears fan I'd be more concerned with his play on the
field so far in his career, than anything he says off it. So far this season he is hitting 54% of his passes, has amassed 191 total passing yards, and has 2 Ints and 2 TDs, plus a passer rating of just 69. Yuch
Its not smart, don't get me wrong lol. And i know us fans spend our disposable income...but I'd like to think when you get steamrolled from some 325 pounder in a losing effort, you're pissed off, in a way that us on the message board or stands can't understand. The tuesday gamecheck definitely softens the blow though.
I don't think there's a single school that has generated more than 1 top QB this century.
Who is the best #2 QB from a school? Probably Jared Goff?
That’s actually a good question. Off the cuff from the current crop Trevor Lawrence would probably be it for me (assuming Watson plays and is still good).
There's no way I'm taking an OSU QB at this point.
Each prospect should be judged independently and on their own merits.
Before Burrow, who ironically started at Ohio State, which LSU QB would you have ever drafted? Bert Jones in the '70s?
I've always been leery of Ohio State QBs, or any other school that has dominant talent making the QB look better than they are (e.g. Haskins at OSU, Leinart/Sanchez at USC, Toretta at Miami, Wuerffel at Fla), and Fields MAY fall into that category, but it's too early to say that.
All that said, Stroud seems to be a cut above the standard Ohio St. QB and worth paying close attention to.

Yeah that is better. I totally forgot about Watson

This is controversial but I agree, to a point. I can imagine several potential mechanisms where a prospect can be either "inflated" (look better than they are in a given context) or "infected" (develop bad habits that are not correctable).
1. Talent disparities with other teams.
2. Similar coaching staffs/trees/recruiting targets.
3. "Organizational culture," a nebulous concept but one that matters in a lot of situations.
So I wouldn't have a brightline rule *not* to draft OSU QBs, but given the bust rate in recent times I think it's reasonable to dock a QB a point or two for being from Ohio State.
In general with Ohio State guys I think the talent disparity is a significant problem. The Big 10 is not as strong a conference as the SEC, and Ohio State is too good compared to their opponents. Their QBs seldom face pass rush and struggle when they do. (I watched Fields against Northwestern in 2020 and came away unimpressed--that was one of the few games where he really faced an opponent who played tight defense and he didn't have an answer.)
Fields is not a bust yet--the arm talent is too good. But caveat emptor with OSU QBs I think.

A few options here:
- Oklahoma has Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, and (arguably) Jalen Hurts.
- NC State has Philip Rivers, Jacoby Brissett, (arguably) Russell Wilson.
- Alabama has Mac Jones, Tua, and (arguably) Jalen Hurts.
- Clemson has Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence.
- Stanford has Andrew Luck and Davis Mills.
- Oregon has Justin Herbert and Marcus Mariota.
But in terms of the TOP guys, yeah, only one per school. IMO Oklahoma is closest; Baker Mayfield looked like he was going to be very good at one point. And I wouldn't mind him as a bridge guy next year here...
That was definitely goofy. But you could also argue that he actually should have been given a TD. It sure looked like it on replay.

Right now, the Bears are one of the worst run franchises in sports. McCaskey makes Mara look like Joe Lacob.
As a fan of Fields, I think he's in for very rough ride to start his career.
How to make you're fan base hate you, 101

from the goal line, Bears playcaller called a qb run from shotgun.

It was close, imagine if he had been under center!

I’ll take QBs from Duke for $200 Alex. :)
I liked Fields at OSU, though OSU doesn't have the best track record when it comes to NFL QBs.
There's no way I'm taking an OSU QB at this point.
Well I guess you’d have avoided QBs from Wyoming, Texas Tech, Oregon, etc, because the history of NFL QBs from those schools has been non existent.
I have no idea how someone can be taken seriously if they have your opinion on this. It simply makes zero sense

It's hard to argue with the string of success that WRs from Alabama have vs the lack of success that QBs from OSU have.
It's not inconceivable that certain collegiate programs are just better at recruiting and developing talent at certain positions.
