I rather have him then Calitro.. Giants could definitely find a better option than Calitro?? It’s comical this dude is a starter, he would not be starting in any other team in the nfl imo..
They could just drop somebody from the Practice Squad, but I expect either Jefferson or Moreau will be signed to the roster, and one of the young guys will be waived.
...and played only on specials. All three were waiver claims, so it's hard to say which would be most likely to clear waivers. It might come down to health, but Pinnock would seem to be at risk with Belton back and Jefferson already entrenched in the safety rotation.
That would be to make room on the roster for Jefferson and/or Moreau.
When people bemoan dudes sitting out bowl games, I use Smith as an example. He was a first rounder before getting injured in the Fiesta Bowl vs. OSU. He lost a lot of coin getting injured.
have been a little weaker than I expected.
If his quickness , and blitz ability( his sense of when ,where ,how to) are still relatively keen, then that might equate out to freelance in his mind.

Then is stands to reason they should sit out more games than just the bowl game their last year too. If it's the $$$ that motivates them to play.

Well at least Jerry Jones gave him $35 million guaranteed in his 2019 contract extension.
I don't think injury risk is the #1 reason players sit out bowl games.

Injuries are a factor, of course; but players and their agents know that injuries can happen in any game. The unique thing about bowl games is timing. A player who skips a bowl game gets as much as a month of extra preparation for the Combine and pro days. Maybe GMs are smart enough to factor that extra preparation into their assessments, and discount players' workout numbers accordingly. Maybe. Maybe not.
Again injuries are a concern - not just devastating ones like Smith's, but also nagging ones that diminish a player's workout numbers or knock him out of certain Combine activities altogether. Those are much more common than knee blowouts.
is much better than Crowder who has been awful, taking wrong gaps on run plays, terrible covering out of the backfield and not getting enough depth on pass plays..
Smith at least adds some sideline to sideline at the LB position and is probably a better fit for Wink than Crowder..
I am guessing Calitro gets cut eventually to bring Moreau up to the main roster..
I think they add a couple of open spots on their practice squad to sign Smith
Man, we could use some decent LBs...that Beavers injury really hurt.
Smith is not what he used to be, the speed and burst he was known for are gone. But, he rose to the occasion enough last year that he was better than the other ILBs. I say it every year, you're not finding solutions sitting home on the couch. Just got to patch it up best you can and keep going.
If his Twitter is Ralf V then that's fake.

It was a joke. His name is Ralph.
dont see correlation two different positions
My thought was LJ Fort due to his familiarity with Wink Martindale's defense. I guess I was completely wrong!
I don't mind this addition. Fast, physical, strong blitzer, and better than what we currently have on the roster.

There was an article on Fort awhile back.
Should Giants sign veteran linebacker L.J. Fort? - ( New Window )
Baker changed play....and an easy completion into Calitro area followed.
Pretty obvious to anyone paying attention

Could be L Williams is going to miss a bit more time than we were hoping

Well, it could mean Williams to IR.

Huge change from Game #1 Calitro was only on the field for 5 plays yesterday!
LOL exactly, he was the most dynamic LB we had, off the couch!!

LB Jaylon Smith will be part of #Giants practice squad. Obviously 2 players can be elevated each game.

Seriously. It starts with Jaylon, and next we’re bringing back Omameh. And Jonathan Stewart, bc he’s good in the room.
Will be interested to see how long until he’s in the lineup
And as 'cooked' as he was he was fast enough and quick enough to make every other linebacker look like a defensive tackle.
