Burrow came out earlier & said Cincinnati will be fine, doing his best Rodgers 'R-E-L-A-X' impression. I didn't catch the opener vs. the Steelers, but I don't think Pittsburgh is that good-Mitch sucks-& that was a home loss. & I watched the whole Bengals-Dallas game & their OL man...I thought it was bad last season, but it looked HORRIFIC vs. Dallas. I get that the line has 4 (I believe?) new starters so it'll take time to gel, but an 0-2 start isn't conducive to success. For every '93 Cowboys or '07 Giants, there are 15 teams that start 0-2 & end up watching the playoffs at home.
Here's their upcoming schedule: @ MetLife vs. a Jets team coming off an UFB win/a team the Bengals lost to last fall, home vs. the 2-0 Fins on TNF, @ Baltimore, @ New Orleans. That isn't exactly an easy 4 game stretch.
Perhaps the Super Bowl hangover is real, all jokes aside.
talk about turnstiles.
Burrow won't survive the season if they don't clean it up.
Burrow isn't perfect, but he's not the problem in CIN.
I do expect them to pull together and be competent
Jonah williams isnt bad either
Right now they suck
The could ruin burrow
Happened to us in 1987 1991 & 2001
They played two "blah" opponents last year, Carr has never impressed me and going to Tennessee to play the Titans isn't the scariest place to go and win a game. Mahomes just played a weird game against them last year. Ok, cool. They made it to the Super Bowl.
Sure whatever, disagree, but last year shows you that basically every team has a good chance of winning the Super Bowl.
Up there with maybe the 2010 Bears or the 2008 Phillies, I've never seen a more unimpressive run in sports history. 2021 Bengals were just one of those average teams who went on a good run but just didn't finish the job. I think I had predicted them missing the playoffs this year.
Oh yeah, the Giants and allowing teams with losing records to host playoff games gets you there.
Yeah. They're really knocking out of the park this year. Just another team who won a bunch of games because their opponents played down to them. Nothing more.
When does Tennessee EVER win at home in the playoffs?
I remember Mahomes running around like a chicken with his head cut off when he had plenty of opportunities to run for the first down and also made some ill-advised throws.
Plenty of teams have made it to the Super Bowl (or won a SB) one season and then failed to make the playoffs the following season. This happened a ton in the 2000s. The Bengals are just one of those teams. It's not like it hasn't happened before.
As for the Chiefs game, they made a big half time adjustment and basically dropped 8 the majority of the 2nd half. There were no throwing lanes, and Mahomes was being spied. Plenty of articles about it if you care to read up on it. That isn’t luck, that’s a Belichick move that Reid had no answer for.
With their O, they are a high ceiling team - they are the kind of team that can make a playoff run

Yup Bengals adjusted real well vs. KC in 2nd half.
It's likely true they overachieved last year. When a team comes out of nowhere, they often can take advantage of having been under the radar so long, they catch everyone off guard for that season.
This season will be interesting.
But that style also led to 14 INTs on top of the 51 sacks. Burrow was excellent last year and threw 14 INTs. What if Burrow isn't playing at that level, what if he regresses? That 34 TD / 14 INT ratio could turn into 30/20 considering how many 50/50 type throws are in that offense.
They might need to adjust to a more conservative style if their OL continues to fail.
Saw a lot of wide open throws to him last year which allowed Burrow to just chuck long for him.
