ESPN Sources: Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka is facing possible disciplinary action – including a significant suspension – for an unspecified violation of organizational guidelines. Discussions are ongoing within the Celtics on a final determination.

Udoka led the Celtics to the Eastern Conference championship and a berth in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors in his first season as a head coach last year.
Possibly a disclosure requirement?
this is the world some of you want to live in?
unless there are details that have not been shared this seems stupid.
Haha you win!

Aren't rules, rules? If its a personal conduct policy issue, and he broke it, then that's pretty much that. I never agreed with weed being banned in football but it was and the players getting caught had no one to blame but themselves.
The world I want to live in is people actually taking responsibility for their actions.
Its actually very common. And they aren't telling you who you can date, they are telling you you can't date another employee.

he or anyone be suspended or disciplined in any way other than privately for a consensual relationship among adults?

Like I said, you discipline them privately.
There is probably more to it for them to possibly suspend him..
I have a feeling most BBI'ers aren't high up on the chain of command...
The Celtics, just like many/most organizations are protecting themselves against sexual harassment lawsuits here. Their strong action shows to juries of the future that they take their policies seriously.
This x100. We have no facts here. What if she was a subordinate like the team secretary? You think that's appropriate? What if it happened on team premises? Work place relationships are at the very least a bad idea, and often could have legal and civil liability issues. I mean I'm 54, but I love this place. Sometimes it's like Mad Men on steroids...
Yes they certainly can. Have you been under a rock?

Pjcas, I understand where you’re coming from at a high level, but companies these days are trying to avoid any possibility of legal or negative PR fallout from employee relationships.
several NBA franchises have dealt with lawsuits and the PR fallout over the past decade regarding some type of sexual allegation. The risks to these companies are too great.
Personally, I think avoiding dating within your company is a smart decision. I did that in my 20s but now that I’m older there is no way I would date a colleague now with the risks to my career no matter how low the odds might be.
Exactly. But people get sick of their significant others for whatever reason at some point or another and go off the reservation if the opportunity is presented.

Ime Udoka has considered resigning, per @SIChrisMannix
Companies don't care if 23 year olds hook up after happy hours. They care a lot if the executives and senior management are screwing the staff. And they should.
Are the rules too strict in some cases? Sure. But its impossible to write perfect rules and companies are going to err on the side of not having their employees get sexually exploited by their superiors.

Players aren't allowed to date cheerleaders. This isn't general employment. These people have contracts that stipulate a whole list of things they can't do.
Well yeah, this is literally breaking news. Of course you’re going to get a lot of it today. And if you haven’t seen the Favre thing covered a shit ton it’s because you’re willfully ignoring it so that you can blame society.
You should really stop believing everything you see on Facebook. And yes, I know that’s where you’re getting your bad info from because I seen the same incredibly stupid thing on there regarding Favre
But it was really a case of being bad for worker discipline because everybody assumes you have to screw the boss to get ahead, and company didn't want to be on the bad side of a lawsuit or bad pub when the relationship inevitably went sour.
Becky Hammon or whoever the first female coach is has so much pressure on them to not make this same mistake, it would set women coaches back a ton fairly or unfairly.

Very presumptuous of you to "know" where I get my info from being that I haven't been on Facebook in over 10 years.
You should stop assuming you know everything.

So you have a different social media source for your bad takes? Good to know ;-)

I expressed an opinion, you (others) disagree. Cool. Peace and love bros.
If their policies about what he's done call for suspension, how could they do that privately?

Just joking with you. Your denial about Facebook was worded somewhat specifically so you left yourself open to that joke IMHO.

Lol, gotcha.
This is decades old, for good reason. At the very least, it has to be reported, and people are moved around. It is truly astounding that people turn it into something to be aggrieved about.
Organizations very rightly take these things more seriously if there’s been retaliation, compromising material, a crime committed, or pending litigation.
If the team is considering a year long suspension and he’s considering quitting, I’ll be surprised if this is a small matter.

FWIW Brent Barry's wife is beautiful as well

This. Mrs S and I were colleagues at a big NY law firm back in the day. We obviously hooked up, and we even got married while both still employed there. The firm had no problem with it - we were first year associates and after we were married they even had us interview law students and laterals together. (Hey - come here - work all night and meet your spouse!). But what Jerry says is correct. Executives and management screwing the staff is different. As it should be.
Yeah okay. The guy just took the Celts to Game 6 of the NBA Finals in his first season as their coach. If anything should have protected him, it should've been his success as a coach to this point.
Anyone but the head coach probably gets shit-canned, regardless of skin color or value to the organization.
It's hard to imagine, but Stephen A. Smith might simply be trying to provoke a response with his opinion.
Yawn...

Chris Rock summed it up best. "You show me the most beautiful woman in the world, and I can show you the guy that's tire of F-----g her!!"
