Did AZ State staff leak info to opponents to get Herm fired?

How much did Arizona State want Herm Edwards out as head coach? Reportedly, coaches were willing to throw him under the bus for a chance to send him packing.

According to a report from The Athletic shared by the RedditCFB Twitter account, athletic department staffers were willing to share their game plans with opposing coaches to make it seem as if Edwards was in over his head. Per The Atheltic’s Doug Haller, getting intel on the Sun Devils’ game plan “wasn’t hard” as the staff had checked out on Edwards running the show.

for recruiting violations. I think bringing kids on campus when they were not supposed to. Coaches got canned and players left. It was just a matter of time till he got fired.

Maybe the staffers thought he was laying the blame on others.
They should ban whoever is involved

in working in college athletics again.

I have no idea what it's like to work for Herm Edwards, but that is some pussified shit.

Agree. I don’t follow ASU so not sure if Edwards deserved to be fired or not, but whoever was involved with this (if true) comes out looking pretty ugly.

Also agree and the NCAA loves to hammer mid tier or lower tier programs for crap while the big boys do the same or worse and nothing happens. Total joke of an organization.
Does Antonio Pierce

No he left earlier this year to become the Raiders LB coach. Although the ultimate blame has to fall on the HC....as I understand it Pierce was the primary party responsible for a lot of the recruiting violations. Probably best he is out of CFB. Seems like a lot of Herm's staff....and Herm himself....which was basically a lot of ex NFL'ers, were comfortable with the coaching end of things, but not comfortable at all with all the NCAA rules and regulations that had to be followed surrounding recruiting, visits, etc....
Ouch!

That's harsh. Seems like a decent guy, but what do I know.

Once names are named,ma ban may not even be necessary. What coach would hire an assistant with a proven track record of doing that?

There are lines in every business you just can't cross — at least, not if you want to stay in the business. This seems like one of them to me.
If that happened

Then wouldn’t there also need to be an investigation into possible gambling on those games by the culprits and/or their friends and family?
FWIW, the tweet that's quoted in the OP
Mad Mike : 9/23/2022 4:05 pm : link
misrepresents what's in the article. The article says one opposing coach said "that it wasn’t hard to get intel on this season’s team because some within Arizona State athletics wanted a coaching change." That may be damming, but intel on the "team" is quite a bit different from intel on the "game plan."

ASU has the potential to be a powerhouse in football considering their location, the talent within the state & nearby, & the fact that it is a shitshow of a college, in that the students are drunk 99.9% of the time.
