Can't wait to see this matchup on Monday night. Time for Evan Neal to step up and show why he was the top OT taken in the draft. Funny to think these two could have been teammates had the Giants decided not to trade down in the 2021 draft.
Evan Neal is a young developing player who needs to make his mistakes before he becomes a fully dependable pass blocker. His education continues Monday Night with Micah Parsons as a very strict instructor.
I like Neal, but I don't think he's ready to take on Parsons. He'll
he's shown reason to be excited about what he can be in year 2 and beyond but he's a rookie OT who has to perfect his fundamentals to reach his potential. Right now Parsons will take advantage of him at times. Hopefully the Giants OC is ready for that.
RE: RE: Would the Giants have drafted Neal without the pick from the Bears?
He’s off balance, ends up on the ground too much, but when he keeps his balance and locks on he’s great.
Giants will need to give him help on Parsons and hope AT can handle him 1 on 1 when he’s lined up over there.
He looks like a rookie. He'll need to dig deep to fend off Parsons. Barkley will need to be at the top of his pass protection game as well.
Offensive Tackle (and OL in general) might be the toughest position in the NFL to adjust to as a rookie. Look at AT’s rookie year. Much like Neal, he flashed but lots of people weren’t impressed. He’s gotten consistently better every game and now he’s listed as PFF’s top OL. Neal will get there. Players get drafted high because of their physical attributes, work ethic, attitude and, of course, production. At least those are the factors that need to be considered heavily imo. Schoen seems really good at all of that. I trust Neal will grow to match AT and be a perennial pro bowler for us
Sending Parsons at Thomas. He started off going v Wirfs in the Tampa game and Wirfs handled him, and then he proceeded to attack their left tackles(he had reps/sack against starter at LT and also backup LT after starter left due to injury).
If they do I’ll be happy as I’m not worried about Thomas. Obviously it would be a great, great matchup.
Neal has elite tools but he’s still getting his footing whereas Parsons is on fire right now so this will be a fun opportunity for Neal to test himself. Hoping Azeez and KT were able to give Neal some good looks this week. Getting reps vs Burns a week ago had to help.Parsons has been winning quite often with his inside move due to tackles overcompensating to the outside to negate his elite speed. I think this is where the game within the game for Neal will take place; his counters to Parsons inside move. Don’t reach, keep that left hand back for a late stab. Neal anchoring vs Parsons speed to power will be interesting to watch.
RE: so far nobody in the nfl has proven they can handle parsons
whichever giants OL ends up on parsons is in for a long night
Thomas can handle him.
Parsons has been killing everyone.
But given the current disparity in pass pro between Neal and Thomas, I would certainly expect to see Parsons lined up against Neal in many passing situations.

This is wrong. Parsons has had a lot of feasting on bad tackles. He absolutely destroys bad tackles. I’m not saying he hasn’t beaten the good tackles one on one, but Dallas is interested in finding best matchups for him, not proving how good he is by giving him a contest vs the other teams top OT. When Wirfs was handling Parons Dallas proceeded to find the better matchup on the left side for Parsons, which is exactly what they should do. Just like passing attacks try to isolate the weak link in your secondary, DCs want to give their pass rushed the best matchups they can.
One of the bigger factors on Parsons impact is Daniel Jones himself
Jones has been under pressure, but fans may not realize he is second in the entire nfl in time to throw. Jones has to speed up his decision making and get the ball out quicker. He’s been holding it a bit too long imo.(I’m sure our cast of “receivers” probably isn’t helping all that much).
I hope I’m wrong but I don’t like the matchup in pass pro.
This time I spelled his name right. Never a good idea to have a couple of drinks and post on BBI. Lesson learned. LOL!

than Evan Neal trying to pass block against him.

And who knows where they would have been picking if they had had Parsons.

Only if they valued Neal over Thibideau and Ekwonu.
We would’ve picked in the same spot. We still had Judge as a HC and clown of the week at OC.

This is absurd.
He had no sacks vs Giants last year and in the second game, which AT played, he had just an assisted tackle.
His sacks vs Tampa came on a play versus Donovan Smith who got hurt and their backup. Wirfs swallowed him.

Chances better in the run game than in pass protection
I hope I’m wrong but I don’t like the matchup in pass pro.
I'm not liking this matchup for the Giants at this point.
He looked pretty bad in the run game last week. He was better in pass protection .
Thomas can handle him.
