I'm not sure why it is taking so long to get Robinson back. He had his appy 12 days before the Cowboy game. It's 3 very small incisions (that should be healed by now) and a staple line where his appendix used to be. I'm a doc, and I do the anesthesia for these surgeries. Patients go home the same day, and recovery is very quick. I have a friend who did an Ironman Triathlon 7 days after the same surgery.
Jason Witten had an enlarged spleen and was at risk of rupturing it with a big hit. He played against us the next week with specially designed padding over his abdomen.
Dak had surgery on the thumb of his throwing hand. I would think he would be out for 6 to 8 weeks, but it sounds like he will be back in 3 to 4 weeks.
I don't think there is a question if Robinson would play this week if he were a Cowboy. Of course he would, and he would be very effective and show no signs of the surgery. Maybe the Cowboys are A-holes for rushing guys back too fast, or maybe our docs are too conservative. I think it's a little bit of both.
Your daughter is not getting run over by 230 lb running backs and she i does not have to tackle 250 lb tight ends

Dr said if she needed her appendix removed the surgery would only take 30 minutes and she would be back at school in 48 hours. Turned out it was a cyst she had so never needed the surgery, but I’m curious as to why players who have the surgery are normally out for close to a month?

You say that like you know it as fact.
If he keeps it up, I doubt he'd be playing for any team given his start to the NFL.
3 career starts, a stand out for sure.

No one said he hasn't healed, they just said he isn't playing. The criteria for him playing are obviously very subjective.

LOL!
My guess, We all know the Giants are conservative with their medical issues. And Daboll says that if you don't get the prep time in during the week, you do not play. So probably a combo of the two.

Your daughter doesn't play cornerback for an NFL team
For every "guy does Ironman 7 days after surgery" situation you see, how many "guy still isn't 100% after 2 weeks" do you see? How come you don't talk about those guys? Because I'm sure there's a few but it doesn't fit this narrative you have.
This place gets loonier by the day.
I’d think a pro football player would need to heal fully from this type of an invasive surgery even if that’s just a matter of an extra week with no contact. Maybe others can get back to work quicker but I doubt they’re working in an environment with such violent body contact.
we’re one of the most injured teams in the past decade.
it would be refreshing, frankly, if we started holding players with injuries out longer. they might have a fighting chance at a career.
And yes, the Giants staff has always been conservative with injuries. And that’s mostly a good thing for the players health. But hey, we fans want to win a football game, damn it! Get back out there so we can rip you to shreds because you’re not ready and play like shit!
I did not feel my timetable was slow, honestly. In order to allow my body to twist and create torque the way I needed put a lot of pressure on my core. And that’s not even a fraction of the physical toll a football player goes through.
yeah “weird” is a good word, alright…

You’re not very fucking bright, huh? You’re trying to tie in games missed due to injury with them NOT being conservative with injuries? How the hell does that make any sense?
1. The amount of injury has absolutely nothing to do with how conservative they are when injuries do happen
2. If anything, wouldn’t the amount of games missed prove that they are indeed conservative and keeping players off the field longer?
I did some rehab to strengthen and stretch the muscles, but for me was about 3-4 weeks beofre I felt 100%. Again, not the same surgery but your core muscles affect everything.
I think we usually fault the medical staff here for rushing or improper recovery. Id rather give him the extra week or so and have him 1005 the rest of the season.

the fact that we missed so many “man games” isn’t because our medical staff is conservative. it’s because so many players suffered catastrophic, season ending injuries. when players get hurt on this team, they stay hurt.
now go drink your medium pepsi like a good sycophant.

Again, dipshit. What exactly does “catastrophic, season ending injuries..” have to do with how conservative they are when a player gets injured? The point people are making about how conservative they are after injuries happen has completely flown over your brain dead head. You’re just rambling about shit that has nothing to do with the topic.
Conservative treatment after an injury has absolutely NOTHING to do with how many injuries they have. Nothing. They are two different things. But a wouldn’t expect a meathead to be able to separate the two..,

In order to advance your agenda, you say something that is absolutely false.
This organization is conservative in allowing players to return. This was surgery, not an injury. Before Robinson can return from surgery he has to be cleared by the surgeon - the MD and likely the team MD. Head trainer answers to the Doctor.
so who gives a shit if they are “conservative” if our players don’t play?
our medical staff is shit. period. and we have have every right to second guess everything they do, based on the FACTS, not some fan who canonizes Ronnie Barnes.

You are truly idiotic. What is your medical background? My guess is your limit of medical ability is applying a bandaid to a scratch.
The fact that you don’t have the bandwidth to be able to separate topics being discussed is nobody’s problem but you’re own. I know it’s been a lifelong struggle. Freakin Neanderthal.
But do ask yourself this question - should you wonder about my medical qualifications? or should you wonder about the medical qualifications of the people who have caused our team to be the most injured since 2009?
try to prioritize the direction of your ire.
Understanding that the guy who did then iron man had to exercise some pain tolerance, the core demands are little to none when comparing to football.

We don't have ire, that is you. Do not redirect what you are saying and conflate it with what we are saying.
You do not have any medical training or qualifications. Yet, you are flapping your gums.
But I am wasting my time. So carry on your tirade and indignation. That and $3.29 gets you are tall coffee at Starbucks...
why should John Mara have the urgency to fix that if fans like you keep giving him cover to continue sucking?
next time you lament a player with potential missing time, look in the mirror.

Feel free to start a thread to get the pitchforks out for Ronnie Barnes. We have to have someone to blame at all times anyway so let’s get that rolling so you can feel better. That’s not what this thread was for but The Jake is angry at Ronnie Barnes so make a damn thread dedicated to it and stop hijacking threads that aren’t suited for it. In that thread you can tell us everything Barnes does, and all the missteps he’s taken that has caused these injuries. I look forward to your expert analysis
i posted a link to some data and you got the vapors. facts.

No, anyone can criticize. But you had better have some credentials in order for anyone to truly give a crap about what you say. Otherwise, it is just blather from an unqualified fool.
Right, John Mara wants to pay for injured players, plus their replacements. I guess it is better to be like the Eagles(Cowboys) and allow injured players to get on the field and help ruin the rest of their lives.
Not my worry if an injured player cannot play. Part of the game - any sport. Yes, I wish they were healthy enough to play. But I want them to return when healthy.
But yes, you can keep on ranting about something you have no clue about....

Neither you nor I know in what proportion the Giants' recent injury woes stem from poor training, poor medical decisions, poor field conditions, players not wanting to risk further injury on a losing team, players making boneheaded and risky plays [like Jones against the Cowboys last year], taking chances on players with injury histories, or just plain bad luck.
I couldn't imagine taking significant hits to that area so soon after the surgery.
I laughed, BBS, so true
if this were a 1, 3, or even a 5 year problem, then you’d be right.
13 years? if that isn’t enough to start being critical, then what’s the point of a message board? Giants executives don’t need us to stroke their egos.
if criticizing Ronnie Barnes makes me a bad fan then so be it. he is objectively THE worst trainer/SVP of medical services in all of professional football by the only objective standard that matters.
