Nimmo is back in the lineup today and playing CF; Ruf is at 1B; Naquin is in Rf (thank God); Alonso is DHing; Nido is catching; McNeil is back at 2B; Luis G is not paying today (hope he's ok after getting hit yesterday and exiting the game)

Hopefully the lead sticks this time. A laugher would be nice too of course :-)
Your constant roasting of the cross-town team is hilarious.
Ruf needs to sit on the bench. As pj said, it was a horrible trade to begin with and he give this team nothing. He’s a net negative. If he’s on the post season roster, I’ll be sick. Of course…he will be.
It doesn’t have to be vientos. But literally ANYONE would be better than him - he’s been a net negative at the place.
in the past 2 games he was 3/6 with 2 walks, just 1 k, and 2 extra base hits.
like i said above i liked the Ruf trade because his upside was a legitimate impact hitter. at this point they need to realize that is not happening. if he gets 1 or 2 big hits off the bench at some point thank the stars. but he has looked so putrid you can't play him over anyone with a pulse.
Grrrrrrr
The official scorer seems to disagree with you

but the catcher was on one knee for pitch framing and didnt block it

Any time it hits the dirt its an automatic wild pitch. But it was a blockable ball that he didnt get to because he was on one knee
Agreed. Give him the 8th. Then Smith the 9th.
It feels dirty to root for the PHI walk off, so I'm hoping for something like a HBP to win the game.
Now 8-6.
Tomorrow's an off day. Marlins come to Queens on Tuesday & Wednesday followed by another off day. Braves series comes after that.

Top 11th.

8-7, Phillies just scored

F--king Braves won, 8-7.
One win in ATL worth 3, the other 2 worth 2
Mets paths to clinch if Braves win all their remaining against Nats and Marlins
1)
Vs non Braves: 5-0
Vs Braves: just need 1 win
2)
Vs non Braves: 4-1 or 3-2
Vs Braves: need to win 2 vs Braves
3)
Vs non Braves: 2-3 or 1-4
Vs Braves: sweep
So basically that Braves win was absolutely massive today.
Lets hope Nats can take one or 2 from em!
Braves are 95-58
Mets are 1.5 up
If Mets go 6-2 rest of way, at least one of those wins will be against Atlanta, which will give them tiebreaker in NL East. Their final record would be 103-59
In that scenario, Braves can’t catch them even if they go 8-1.

Yeah that's my scenario 1 above
Note:
Both the Mets and Braves will be off on the 29th.
6 of the Braves final games will be at the Nats (three games) and at the Marlins (the last three games of the season).
5 of the Mets' last 8 games will against the Marlins (two games in Queens) and the Nats (the last three games of the season in Queens).
In between, the Mets and Braves will play three in Hotlanta. It's all NL East form here on out (including the Phillies today).
Who's pitching for the Braves tomorrow? Cory Abbott's on the mound tomorrow in D.C. for the Nats (RHP - 0-3, 4.85 ERA, 32 S).
We also know that sweeping the Marlins and Nats is not a given, either
Have they said they will alter the rotation?
I'd imagine the Mets' pitchers for the last 8 games would be as follows:
9/26 - OFF DAY
9/27 - vs. Marlins - Escobar (going on 7 day rest)
9/28 - vs. Marlins - Walker (going on 7 days rest)
9/29 - OFF DAY
9/30 - @ Braves - Bassitt (going on 7 days rest)
10/1 - @ Braves - deGrom (going on 7 days rest)
10/2 - @ Braves - Scherzer (going on 7 days rest)
10/3 - vs. Nats - Escobar (going on 6 days rest)
10/4 - vs. Nats - Walker (going on 6 days rest)
10/5 - vs. Nats - Bassitt (going on 5 days rest)
The last game of the regular season against might not be Bassitt's if the division has been decided by then of course, since he's one of the Big 3 going into the playoffs. That start could go to Williams or Peterson if it's a meaningless game, one way or the other.
We also know that sweeping the Marlins and Nats is not a given, either
Or just win 1/2 marlins, 2/3 braves, 2/3 nats..
Which is the 2/3 I've been saying all along!

and win 1 in Atlanta - which, given the Mets history there in playoff races, isnt a given. Can this team exorcise the ghosts of 1998-01

If the Mets win 6 of their last 8, and one of those 6 wins is against the Braves, then they're guaranteed to win the division.
Exactly. The Marlins have a good team ERA, but they're offensively deficient since they fail to score a lot of runs.

I know...look above I put all the scenarios to clinch.
You gave one of them.. yes if we sweep Marlins and Nats then we only have to get 1 v Braves, but we don't NEED to sweep Marlins and Nats
I just hope Escobar and Walker don't shit the bed on Tuesday and Wednesday before going to Atlanta. The Mets desperately need them to pitch well for this upcoming short series and probably in the Nats series toe end the regular season as well.
