Jones played a very good game tonite

NJBlueTuna : 9/26/2022 11:16 pm
Got the snot beat out of him and still made plays with zero WR help. The WR corp is a joke. Even Aikman, a known Dallas homer and Giant hater was won over by Jones while broadcasting the game.

Apparently the bar for “very good”

Is extremely low
Well he didn't fumble

So that's a good game for him.
Agree

Considering:

Daniel Jones was pressured on 24 dropbacks Monday night. Most in NFL this season, per
@ESPNStatsInfo
. Most by a Giants QB since ESPN began tracking pressures in 2009.

Jones now pressured on 40.8% snaps this season, second only to Justin Fields.
He's been carrying this team,

but people don't want to see it. You'd think that after last years performance decline when he went down they'd realize, but they're blinded.
Jones showed a lot of heart and moxy

and no he didn't have enough help out there last night, he still even got into the flow of the game in spots. But, the issues with processing what he sees and making the right decisions was still spotty. Game is often too fast for him, and jailbreak football won't help him either. Offense isn't scoring points save for SB, but he's playing behind the same offensive line and next to the same weapons.
Jones is not carrying the offense

it's Barkley.
Jones had some nice runs last night. Still misses feeling those

edge rushers coming, but I give him a lot of credit of hanging tough last night while his guys around him let him down.

This is what I fear. That John Mara evaluates Daniel Jones the same way that the Pollyannas do - “He is tough and has a bad team around him. If we get him players he will be fine.”

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately we know already that this is exactly how Mara thinks. And I tend to believe another thing that get mentioned often is how we are going to end up giving him a short term deal. Mara will ask who their ideas for better QBs are they won't really have an answer for that, they may say the draft and Mara will probably say ok, well draft your QB and they can compete with Jones. See now given how Jones has played especially tonight I don't really have a problem with just this part.

BUT

Draft rolls around and I can see the whole Mara clan pushing for other players and talking with another narrative we see here that is essentially we shouldn't reach for a QB when we have so many holes and QBs are a crapshoot. (meanwhile you are almost always needing to reach for a QB to get a good one) So we don't end up bringing in real competition for Jones. I think whatever we see from the Pollyannas around here Mara isn't too far from and yes unfortunately that isn't really conjecture

I’m just not buying this. In fact, this same situation happened in 2019 with Eli (a QB Mara likes more than Jones) and Mara did not get in the way of drafting a QB at 6.

For context, the 2018 Giants finished the season 4-4 with much better offensive performances down the stretch led by Eli. Mara could have pushed for a pick which helped Eli.
RE: I would say he played a heroic game. Not sure how good it could be

labelled. But he was definitely heroic. If our so called fans who post here can’t recognize that than they should just go away. If he had one NFL quality receiver and used #26 more as a receiver it might have been better.

If every Giant played as heroically as DJ, we would be a much better football team.

He absolutely played with grit and toughness, but playing football is never “heroic”. Come on, he competed in a game he gets paid millions for, so let’s cut the “heroic” talk.

I don't think he played 'very well'. He was solid & did what he could to give us a chance. And I was completely wrong in pissing on him after that INT that wasn't his fault with Sills falling down. Alcohol & anger @ losing Dallas...not a good combo for me.

I did the same, but honestly that’s okay. The game threads are like watching a game at the bar. Emotions are high. We’re all Giant fans and want to see the team win.
