I've been a major Jones critic, I don't think he's our future and I've been super hard on him, but I thought he played a really solid game tonight all things considered.
The line simply didn't protect; he was under duress almost all night long. He has no quality pass catchers to throw the ball to... Golladay isn't even trying, Shep is hurt again, Toney can't get on the field... Richie James, David Sills, Daniel Bellinger.. I mean, who is succeeding with targets like this?
He made the correct decisions with the football pretty regularly. He was fortunate Diggs didn't pluck that pass to Shepard down the left sideline, but I felt like he knew when to hold it, when to take off running, and when to just give the play up. He's just hard to evaluate because I don't see how any non-elite QB is making plays in his situation. Who wins football games with skill players this bad?
It sucks, I'd like to move on and find a better option after this year but it's fair to point out that right now, he's in a position where it's going to be very hard to thrive.
The silver lining for me is that I think we finally have the right coaches and GM in place to make the tough decisions that'll need to be made. We are a much better-coached team now, we just need the horses to make the plays necessary to win more football games.
I still think Jones starts for Atlanta or Indy next year and takes them to the playoffs.
And the Giants look like a 5-win team. Maybe.
I just didn’t see him shift protections or call a single audible. I’m not sure if the coaches allow him to, but I feel like that could have been the difference tonight.
Hard to be good under those conditions.
He was smart and didn't make the big mistake, and it still doesn't matter. Only plays he can make seem to be with his legs.
I thought he was sensing it well, and was doing a really good job moving around and buying time. A lot of QBs would have taken a lot more sacks under that pressure
That’s a disappointing comment from you. Given what he faced? Really?
Brandon Brown saw first hand the difference from Wentz to Hurts. Hurts produces. Wentz was beat down by a bad Philly OL.
Really good? Probably wouldn't go that far. I think it's just that I can't think of many QB's who have worse casts right now. He's in a really rough spot.
Russell Wilson and the Bronco offense have been horrible so far and he's throwing to Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and he's got a pair of good RB's.
At this point, I'm just looking at Jones from play to play and trying to decipher if he's making the right decisions, maturing, learning, etc... and I do actually see some of that from him. I still think we ultimately need to do better @ QB but I'm starting to feel like Daboll & Kafka might be able to get a little more out of Daniel.
Tonight wasn't his fault.
Having said that, I don’t want to see him under center for the Giants after this season. He is not part of the turnaround that has started.

We have a decent chance to be 3-1 after next week and you see 5 wins against schedule. Pretty hot take.

No doubt, and I think Wentz mostly sucks... but Jalen has AJ Brown now, and Devonta Smith. His top WR pair is *so* much better than what Jones has.

Only 15 more weeks and I don't have to read that you don't want him next season. I think it's clear.
The receivers out there tonight are practice squad caliber. Bellinger I think could be a good TE but the wideouts get no separation
In what universe did he not perform well tonight !

Lol I'm just joking about the nearly identically titled thread on the board right now.

I give him a ton of props for toughness and effort. I hope he succeeds somewhere.

Sorry, didn’t know only some people got to post opinions here.
Please share your unique and insightful perspective…
Rush wasn't sacked once. Jones was sacked 5 times and had Lawrence/Parsons on his back within 2 seconds on more than half of his drop backs.
Jones also didn't have Ceedee Lamb running routes.

Jones did play well tonight. He kept his eyes down field, extended plays and got some bad luck with drops.
This issue remains the same. Points. If you want to blame lack of WR’s that is fair. Frustrating considering all the resources spent at that position.
Could you perhaps sense a slight difference in quality between Rush’s offensive line and receiving corp versus ours?
I thought the play call was really good for what they are working with.
Jones made a ton of plays and moved around the pocket and made good passes on the run.

WR’s made some bad drops. However, as usual this offense doesn’t produce enough. There just is not enough points.

It’s not even the same planet. Dude has about as big a delta you can get for pass pro OL and his top 3 receiving threats are better than our best.
Would be great but knowing him, he wants to get paid and play for a good team. I don't think we could afford him
So would I. 100%. I think he's a different guy now and this staff could handle him.
For all his warts, Beckham loves football and wants to win. I'd love to have him back.
I still think Jones starts for Atlanta or Indy next year and takes them to the playoffs.
You look at games like this and think he could thrive behind a real OL with a real WR corps. If this was the first time I ever watched him I'd think this guy mad sound decisions and didn't really leave any yards on the field. He looked competent. He made a couple of nice confident throws into tight spots. He stay poised under incredible pressure. There were things to like.
But tonight he had virtually impossible conditions and did the thing we've asked him to do. Not look at the pressure and keep his eyes down field. He played well tonight. Not expecting it to change anything but he played as well as you could tonight.
This is the one thing I can't stand. You are a professional NFL QB, you get what you get. No one deserves a better team, he's not St. Daniel, he's not some all time great saddled with bad teams for an entire career. This is a sentiment I cannot understand

Didn’t think it sounded like you. My bad.
He had no time. Outside of Andrew Thomas the entire OL is dog shit. When he did have time he didn't look comfortable and just took too long to pull the trigger.
Don't remember a single deep shot
Wow, just wow.
