too soon? Tons of praised heeped on him this past preseason, but this OL still sucks. Is it just the chicken salad/chicken shit deal regardless of who the coach is? I didn't expect these guys to be great, but I did expect adequate. We have quite a ways to go to reach that, it seems. Neal is just awful against speed rushers, and for a group said to be better as run blockers, there are hardly any holes since week 1. Did we end up with about 18 pressures on Jones tonight?
I guess he didn't read any of Sy's analysis.
Looks like we need another start over.

MS... you've never understood the process. If you listened to guys like Sy and me, we told you it would be a learning year for Neal. Losing Lemieux also set the lien back.
It's not what the line looks like now, but what it looks like in December.
I don't know what the your expectation was for the rest of the line, but it couldn't have been high. Thomas though was good again as usual. He's definitely the best pick Gettleman made.

It’s not just Evan Neal, who was horrific this evening. The middle of our line was pierced often. Not good.

Thomas came back with a healthy ankle, and we upgraded center, RG and RT, supposedly. So my expectation of adequate was lunacy/nuts? Lordy. I'm such a pie in the sky guy

SO because he had lunatic expectations it means then they all suck? How about the OP just was a complete nut with his early season expectations?

Increasingly, our Center and Right Guard don’t look like much of an upgrade.

Wow-- how many dumb posts are we going to have to read from the nutjobs tonight??
Wow.

This. I maintain Neal is going to be a very good player for the Giants for a long time.

I get that he’s a rookie but dang it looked like Lawrence wasn’t doing much in his rushes. Swipe the hands and beat him easily around the edge. That’s very alarming.

What did you think the center and two guards were going to be?????
Did you watch any football last year???? They had according to PFF the3oth ranked OL. SO what this OL was thought ti be better. NONE of the interior OL is thought ot be much at all.
Just because they are better than 30th doesn't t mean they are decent.
And how many times has SY mentioned that Neal was going to struggle a of of this year?
Did you even read a thing he said??????????????
Compound that with zero pressure from our guys.....painful night.
It was never going to be instant gratification.
Maybe it was too early to bring back our two young edge guys? I would think with the famous first step he would get by some people some of the time?
Like I said takes time. In the meantime Joe try to find a receiver that can play and wants to play football?
Neal had a brutal intro to prime time. It took Thomas half a season for the light to go on, hopefully Neal starts improving with experience too
We actually have talent that needs NFL game experience.
Even once the talent is there, olines take time to gel with each other plus this is a new coaching staff with a new scheme.
Lets talk in week 6 and see how things are.
I was not a big fan of the BD/JS hire and bringing in the Buffalo perimeter offense which really is mostly about Allen and Diggs. In the NFCE you better bring physicality on offense. All the franchises in the East invest significantly in their fronts.
BD/JS need to adjust and recognize this. This doesn't mean Johnson can't be a part of the future but as a group they need to address the OL if they want to see real results.

To this point, I actually think we should bring in Ezudu at guard, move Brendenson to center, and run some more power football.
And two starters that are more of a stop gap than answers. Neal will be fine he’s definitely getting some lessons oof. Those giving up on him already obviously don’t remember Thomas’s first few games

some were getting over excited from one preseason game about him and our OL.

Mack Brown thought he would be a great center. He said they thought of putting in at that spot and what held it up was his language issue that has been resolved. Something to consider going into next year. They still need to add more OL next draft and every year.
I agree they need to have a power element to the offense. BD needs to adjust his scheme in the NFCE. Buffalo had a big problem that still exists today. They couldn't and can't run between the tackles. He needs to be able to here.
The guy is a rookie Tackle - playing next to a so-so guard. There are going to be lots of growing pains all season with him. He will improve - but he also belongs at Tackle. There is also no other player on the team that would be a better solution at Right Tackle right now.

Progress? So when SY says he is going to struggle this year you assume players improve in a straight line week to week?
And yes there are posters that are referring to him as a bust.
