Raanan: Sources say serious knee injury for Shepard

Eric from BBI : Admin : 9/27/2022 12:50 am
Jordan Raanan @JordanRaanan

Giants WR Sterling Shepard suffered a serious left knee injury, according to multiple sources. Final diagnosis comes Tuesday but season is likely over.

"It's tough. I'm not even going to lie. It's hard not to get choked up about it," Darius Slayton said of seeing the injury.
That sucks
adamg : 9/27/2022 12:52 am : link
He was the only one making pro catches today. We got nothing dawg.
We may have seen Sterling Shepards last game

As a Giant.
This has to be the worst.
gfinop : 9/27/2022 12:57 am : link
Not the first time for Giants fans. Cruz, Nicks, Wilson to name a few.

The players get this far... Injuries take many on the way here. Yet some make it. Genetics, hard work, and luck. Finally, get here and all of a sudden everything that ensured your healthy rise to this level is gone!

I hope they can keep their mental balance to get through and even thrive.

I know I'd be a wreck!
That sucks, it looked like non contact injury

Horrible.

my guess is torn patella tendon.

Sucks for Shep

This most likely means the end of his football career
Tough luck…

Brutal game. Eli was talking about him on the broadcast. Hope he goes on to better things.
Very sad..

One of my favorite players. He has so much heart and passion for the game. Those are the types of players Giants need to be drafting, not the Toneys. Smh.

The back of his calf & heal, after he went down - (His off-season repaired Achilles ?)

Previously, Aikman marveled at how well Shep was playing, coming back from injury.

He very clearly grabbed his knee.
Shepard was just basically running at a slow pace
Maijay : 9/27/2022 5:26 am : link
and landed on his left foot grabbed his knee and went down in extreme pain. The man worked his ass off after serious injury to get back to playing and this happens. How cruel the football gods can be.
I'm sorry to read that about Shepard. He always played his heart out,
Ira : 9/27/2022 5:53 am : link
but now is the time for him to be thinking about life after football.

Sad to see

He went to the same HS as my wife and I’m an OU fan. Loved he was on the Giants. This may have been his last year with us anyway but I’d hoped for a heathy year. Three games.

It was just replaced.

And it did not look like the foot grabbed either. He merely put his foot down at not even a jog speed. Rather weird. I wonder if he had damaged or weakened it before and it just let loose.
I really like Shep
Rjanyg : 9/27/2022 7:10 am : link
He has been a competitor and a good guy. Praying for him.
never seen
The Jake : 9/27/2022 7:13 am : link
an injury like that one. he was running in a straight line, no cut, no abrupt stop, nothing. all he did was slow down and it looks like he got shot in the knee.
I wish Shep a speedy recovery

He played his heart out for this team.... regardless of his talent level. He was "all in as a Giant"
Can't say that about Golliday and Toney....
I get why people like Shepard...
moze1021 : 9/27/2022 7:49 am : link
especially the more old-school Giants fan..

But at the end of this season (career?), in 7 seasons as a Giant, dude will have missed 39 games. Only playing 16 games in his 1st and 3rd season.

He just couldn't stay on the field.

Very very very strange to rip Toney on a thread about another WR that can't stay on the field.

When has Toney been on the field healthy and not playing with everything he has?

I'm really starting to think the way he talks and looks has more to do with why Giants fans hate Toney than anything else... and its pretty disgusting
Oh bullshit
Greg from LI : 9/27/2022 8:09 am : link
Toney is disliked because he has contributed next to nothing, doesn’t appear to be focused on football, and constantly misses time with what sound like minor injuries. Don’t let me stop you from jumping to conclusions, though.
Really sucks I was rooting for him
Bizfoodie : 9/27/2022 8:35 am : link
Shep even though often injured became one of my favorite giants. Played with heart and passion. He had that “dog” in him for sure that teams need. Under rated blocker as well especially at his size. Going in to the Dallas game he was the only player on offense besides Barkley and Jones that I felt could or would have a big impact. Most likely done as a Giant but whatever he does next I wish him nothing but success
Always dinged up in some fashion. I liked the pick but
chick310 : 9/27/2022 8:35 am : link
never really produced enough to match that second contract. Hope he heals well but that is about it for him.

I think your the one who sees it that way, right from the start. The guy never plays, has bs follow him around a lot (practice, don't practice, issues with shoes, sick, sick again, injured, etc...).. He has so much stuff around him for a guy who has produced next to nothing so far.
A brutal cap on a rough night for Shep
JonC : 9/27/2022 8:55 am : link
wish him a speedy recovery, it just doesn't seem his legs can handle the NFL.

That is an absurd conclusion. Giants fans have plenty of reasons to be down on Toney that have nothing to do how he looks. He misses games constantly with very minor injuries and then can't get on the field when he is healthy because the coaching staff doesn't trust him.

He was a first round draft pick on a unit with little talent. He is underperforming every reasonable expectation the fans of him.

I think the saddest part of that is he got hurt on a "non play" for him. I mean, he wasn't even remotely involved and boom, down he goes.

Very likely although I was convinced of that when he went down in last years Cowboy game as well.
My guess is that he already had a partial tear
Blue Dream : 9/27/2022 10:02 am : link
And it just popped on that last play.
Yes it was a weird play. He was just jogging down the field
PatersonPlank : 9/27/2022 10:12 am : link
and collapsed. I don't think the turf had anything to do with it. He wasn't even turning or cutting. I think Shep is done, how many knee/leg injuries can one player have and keep coming back?

Give me a break. Toney has had one good game, and even in that one, got thrown out. Yet some posters make him out to be the 2nd coming of Randy Moss.

He's not in Shep's class. Sure, Shep has had more than his fair share of injuries, but at least those injuries were on the field trying to help the Giants win. When Toney can even see the field, then maybe I'll give him some credit.

Let me know when Shepard misses practice time because his shoes don't fit.
Shep was a class act and a fairly reliable receiver.....
Simms11 : 9/27/2022 11:37 am : link
it’s unfortunate, but his career is likely over, same as Cruz’s was after that brutal injury. Hope for the best for Shep!

I thought the same. Was really weird because he was just jogging straight ahead. Didn't look like he blew out his ligaments from what I saw.
Also, guys usually don't squirm in pain
Kmed6000 : 9/27/2022 11:39 am : link
from an ACL like he was. They usually don't need a cart either. This looked like Cruz's injury, the tendon.
