in the NFL. Make that the worst position of any NFL QB:
(1) He's in a prove-it year with a regime that was never invested in him
(2) And gave him a vote of confidence by refusing to pick up his option
(3) Is saddled with a sadly diminished set of WRs now at the very bottom of the NFL
(4) And has a rookie Right Tackle given permission to work out all his pass protection flaws while the other team is firing live bullets
(5) And rarely sees a clean pocket as two or three other lineman often get crushed back into his face
If I were Daniel Jones' agent I would advise him ASAP to:
(1) Plead for a trade right now, assuming you can get out of bed this morning
(2) Tell Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen you want out
(3) And tell them it doesn't matter whether or not you sit on the bench for some other team
(4) Never, never, ever sustain the type of beating you got last night against Dallas
(5) No team is worth going through that sort of punishment, especially one that has long planned to get rid of you after the season
assuming he’s able to get out of bed this morning
Might be?
You mean the INT where Stills literally fell down in the middle of his route with the ball in the air? That INT?
It might not be fair given ups and downs last 3 seasons but this regime is going to hit reset and move on and wish him well for all parties involved going forward.
Daniel Jones has absolutely no WRs and and a questionable at best offensive line
Both things can be true
After watching the turnstile Neal whiff all night long and Glowinski and Bredeson getting knocked back on the seat of their pants and Sills and Golladay getting no separation or falling down and even reliableShepard “fumbling” a beautiful pass in the clutch….it is pretty hard to score more than 20 points with that cast of buffoons surrounding him. Maybe the Raiders, Da Bears, and even New England can better support him than what the poor guy has to endure with here.
Enough is enough…4 years of this surrounding crap…..
For the life of me I do not understand why you would be hard on him. Sills fell down and I have no problem with DJ trying to make a play. Just stew on that for a moment.
Lol....roger! I was a bit on the "oversampling" side myself last night. I sure love my Oktoberfest and Feist beers this time of year!
Were there a few tight windows that he passed on?
I don't feel too bad for him he's got years of playing as a backup ahead of him and that's a pretty good gig. Lousy for me as a fan that we have to start over again though.
Jones was pressured 25 times last night. 25. The most he's ever been in the past 4 years. He's the most sacked QB in the league the past 4 years. Saying he is in a bad position is being kind to bad positions.
Were there a few tight windows that he passed on?
There were a few but not something he could be fairly criticized for. Frankly it was in Panthers game where he left some open throws and reads on the field.
I think we are heading for 7-9 win season this year, which puts us around the 11-17 range I think for a draft pick.
If we are in that range, we are out of range of any QB in this years draft class that is worth drafting.
Are going to sign someone? Lamar Jackson is the only one I would sign, but I cannot imagine the Ravens do not counter to some degree or protect him to some degree via franchise tag. As well, as long as we have this set of WR's and OL, why would he come here.
Like it or not, I see Jones returning for next year.
They’ll move on from Jones irregardless in that case.
Requesting a trade gets him probably benched and he doesn't want that.
DJ probably earned a TON of respect around the league last night.
I have no idea where he'll be next year - it could be here. We've played just 3 games.
He may be the best option. TBD. He escaped from pressure a lot last night. Imagine if he had a go to WR (Diggs type) to count on.
Oh, the treasurer of the DJFC thinks he should remain the QB? Stunning.
Many teams would trade for Jones even though he'll be a FA next season. He's a QB, and there is a valid argument that he's been damaged by a total lack of support on the field and from the front office.
I still think he's gone next season, but admit to being a little less sure after the first three games. I don't see the Giants using the FT on Jones given its cost of about $31.5M, but they theoretically could offer him less as someone said. I just think someone will offer more than the Giants. Jones may also want to go to another team where he has more support.

I'm not so sure he isn't the guy next year. I really, honestly think he played a very good game last night. HE made some nice passes under extreme duress, evaded the rush as good as any QB I've seen this season (aside from Lamar), and made lots of good decisions. He also rushed for 70 yds

I am far from a member of the fan club. I am pretty conflicted about keeping him or not, and am leaning to moving on. There are a lot of people here who are far more supportive than me. Having said that I am objective unlike you, and I look at the data (as they say). He's looked a lot better to me this season. Its not a given we can get a stud QB draft pick, and if not signing him at a lower price tag than the $30-40M could be an option if he keeps this up.
Last night he was very good, I will stand behind this. I am not looking at anything through rose colored glasses, just giving the kid credit for what he did
The offense needs to adapt i think a little and be more run oriented with Jones and Barkley because these receivers are not going to make plays, maybe when Toney or Robinson get back..
Jones did everything he could, he moved the ball but just bad drops and bad penalties killed them

Best play we ran last night I thought was the RPO where Jones fakes to run, drawing Diggs in, and throws to Bellinger. Nicely drawn up.
Need more stuff like that to cover our deep flaws on OL and WR.
In my heart of hearts, what got me so upset yesterday was the sheer physical beating that our QB took yesterday. Very sad to see.
Lol somebody sobered up
+1 - all this talk about holding onto the ball - the WRs have to get separation - take this crew alot more time.
This offense is pretty bad, but it's not 1996 bad or 2021 bad or 2020 bad. It's scoring around 19 ppg (with a missed FG and 2 brutal penalties that took at least 6 pts off the board) but with lesser QB play would be scoring around 14-15 if I had to bet. THAT is when you kill the QB. Not now.
I wish they all would try as much as he does...
"I look at the data" (proceeds to provide an anecdotal POV with no data)
If we let him go, Tyrod and whatever rookie we draft could easily be more of a problem/disaster. As AVG as he seems within this offense (or downright bad at times), I think we still need him next season while we get some more OL/WR help.
Hopefully we can keep him around on the cheap, and at worst, he's a solid backup who knows the offense
At least you're useful on Knicks threads, because your football knowledge is abysmal.
Name one that would blow my mind? Russell Wilson?
Look, there is no disputing that he took a beating last night. But, that is what he should expect. Every team is going to blitz like crazy and get guys in his face. But, it's not just because they can or because the OL is problematic. It is because he does not do a good job reading this pre-snap, and he does not do a good job reading the coverage post-snap. Even accounting for pressure, he isn't making quick decisions.
His receivers aren't great. But, he also is waiting for them to be wide open more often than not. This isn't the school yard. That isn't happening often.
I can pretty much guarantee no one will be pining for the "Daniel Jones days" after he's no longer a Giant

By what method do you figure he will play here? Franchise tag? He is not taking a 1 year deal. As a FA who started 4 seasons he will be looking for starting QB money i.e. 35-40m a year.

No team is trading for a rookie QB on an expiring 1st contract even if DJ asked for that.

I am also looking for starting QB money from my next employer (or current employer).
And just like Daniel Jones, I have approximately 0% chance of getting that much money.
He was fine. They had such terrible surrounding talent they didn't even bother putting him out there. I've never seen that before in the NFL.
It's sad to go 4 years without getting him OL or receivers. They've fixed nothing. And last week, he faced 24 pressures which set an NFL record. Part of that is due to the fact the other team has ZERO RESPECT for anyone running a pass pattern. Forget downfield, there is nobody on this team who can even make a 10-15 yard catch. At this point, it would be nice to have Golden Tate back as the #1 WR.
Maybe by the time he is 37 we will ne allowed to criticize him.

DO IT ANYWAYZ JONEZZZ!
It appears you're upset that not everyone's evaluation matches yours.

Sharp - is there a new Saudi-backed professional football league starting up?

I can guarantee you that DJ's camp will not let him play under the Franchise Tag - especially if Monday is an indication of what this oline is going to look like for a while. He will not be risking a career ending injury for a 1 year payout. If they don't franchise tag him he'll be getting offers from a ton of teams - Colts, Titans, Texans, Seahawks, Saints, maybe Falcons, maybe Panthers are all going to be looking for a new QB.
