Let’s remember that Dallas is a very good team

Sean : 9/27/2022 8:43 am
I think a lot of us have forgotten this point. Since Dak has been out, a lot of people here and in the media just assumed this would be very winnable. A lot of times the narrative around Dallas is chaos, but this is still a team that went 12-5 last year and swept the NFC East. Micah Parsons is a game wrecker. Dallas is also coming off a win against the Bengals.

We all need to remember this. Dallas is still a force in the division and conference. Giants competed despite not having Leonard Williams which was an enormous loss.

Also, Jones played very tough last night given awful circumstances. I was foolish last night and blamed him on the INT before seeing the play and own up to that. He kept his eyes downfield and made plays.

Big opportunity next week hosting Chicago.
Anybidy gettint bent out of shape over last nights loss

overhyped the Giants after 2 wins, team lacks talent at important positions, they arent going to beat a team when they get going offensively its really that simple...

Last night sucks because your up 13-6 the place is absolutely rocking, you get a 3 and out there you may ride the momentum to victory, but its going to be ugly until this team gets a WR worth a damn
I think the hard part to swallow
jvm52106 : 9/27/2022 8:59 am : link
is we still could have won. To me the most disappointing thing was the defense. We really didn't show up when it counted the most. Now, Leonard Williams (as I have said for a while now) is much more valuable than people think. His absence is way more noticeable than if Dexter Lawrence was out and Williams was there would be. It is why I don't get the hate this guy gets about his contract. We should get him signed up long term and build the Dline around him. Lawrence is another guy if a team wanted to trade for him I would entertain that.

If our Pass Rush existed at all last night we might have had a chance. I also think Robinson being out hurts too because he is pretty physical in the run game.

It is hard to swallow especially up 13-6. But, they could have just as easily lost the Tennessee and Carolina games. All things considered, you take being 2-1.

It’s brutal not having anything at WR though.
We are so bereft of talent at WR.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 9/27/2022 9:15 am : link
It is really UFB.
Dallas has some high end pieces on D
Jerry in_DC : 9/27/2022 9:22 am : link
That were impossible for us to deal with. But that team on the field yesterday was not very good. Their O was extremely limited. They are way more talented than we are, but that team won't score enough to compete at the top.

When they get their QB and receivers back? That team might be good
best defensive team in the division...
BillKo : 9/27/2022 9:24 am : link
..when you take into account talent and their coordinator.

The thing that will hold this team back is the head coach, as obvious by that third down call with the game on the line last night.........

Matchups were bad for us last night.
Dallas is decent
Giants86 : 9/27/2022 9:25 am : link
I see problems with them as well.
The Giants just lack talent in so many positions.
WR,1 Corner, MLBs, TE Oline is bad.
Still not sure if we have pass rushers? Time will tell there.
My only solace is the schadenfreude
oghwga : 9/27/2022 9:25 am : link
We're not that good. Playing well above our heads and Dallas thinks that beating us means they're Super Bowl bound. I will still take perverse pleasure watching them bounced again at the end of the season.

I think we win another Super Bowl before they do and I'm well aware that we have been the worst team in football for awhile.
Cowboys are not at full strength right now
JonC : 9/27/2022 9:30 am : link
and the Giants still didn't match up very well, given their weaknesses at the moment. This game should (but probably won't) bring expectations for NYG back to earth. The roster is full of holes and lacking playmakers. They do look well-coached and are playing hard, and it's making up for some of the talent gap. But, a lot of dumb football last night too from NYG.

It baffles me that year in, year out the Giants are so inept at the skill positions.

The offensive line I actually understand to an extent, with CFB changing the talent pool of offensive linemen has dropped off. Not excusable but understandable as to why we haven't built up a great offensive line.

But wide receiver? It's lunacy to me we are so freakin bad at WR and even TE. Its inexcusable to be this bad at the skill positions.

I'm not by any means losing patience with Schoen or Daboll but man do they need WanDale Robinson to contribute. If he doesn't, huge swing & miss.

This is a new regime. They haven’t even had a full year yet.
Cowboys are a good team

even without Dak. However, I think the division belongs to the Eagles.

The sign of a good coaching staff is halftime adjustments, which we've had in each of the first 3 weeks given the offense improving in the 2nd half.

Contrarily, lack of scoring in the first half is concerning especially when you have your first drive scripted.

I'm not arguing whose fault it lies on since thats about 60-80% of what we discuss here but the offense still feels incapable of overcoming one penalty. As soon as we get with a holding call I feel the drive is done.

What we've gotten thus far is more than we can ask for. Win 6-9 games and go into serious talent acquisition mode this offseason. Basically he entire offense could use upgrading.

I'm not tar & feathering Schoen, but I'm not gonna sugarcoat how annoying it is to watch the Giants have a severe talent deficiency at WR.

This unit is going to majorly struggle to score points especially with Shep gone for the year. Less about blame, more about venting frustration seeing us trout out Sills, Golladay etc.

Toney was a miss, Wandale way too premature to say but we need him on the field.
The group of WR we are trotting out there

Makes the group Eli had after everyone went down in week 5 of 2017 look like all pros.

Dallas was a game the Giants should win. I said to my kids midweek I was afraid their defensive front would blow up the game, and I stated here a few times that there isn’t that much drop off from Rush to Dak

This is not an I told you so observation, it s an explanation as to why I m not as discouraged as many of you

Giants could get to 3-1, maybe Toney and Robinson finally begin to contribute, and maybe Giants hang in there and still play games that count later in the year.

They are not a contender, but this year I d settle for a pretender late into the season

My outlook is influenced by still not buying into the narrative that Jones will be gone next season, not a good place for me as a fan, waiting for the next quarterback; If it comes to that I ll be all in on next guy.

But honestly, yesterday’s game thread was full of statements that assumes every sack, fumble, interception, incompletion, is on Jones. Hard to take those guys seriously anymore

I know you are a Cowherd fan, but he was critical of Jones last night. He basically said that he is the classic description of a backup QB since everything needs to be perfect around him. A legit starter can make things work in messy pockets. He said this on his podcast. The Giants better be careful on doubling down on a QB which needs everything perfect to function.

I’ve made the point about the Eagles going from Wentz to Hurts. Massive improvement in the offense.
Sorry
George : 9/27/2022 10:39 am : link
But Dallas is not a very good team.

They have an excellent DL and pass rush, but their LBs and DBs are so so.

They have an above average OL, but Zeke is done, Pollard isn’t an every down RB, and they only have one legit WR threat. With Dak and Schultz out, their offense is pedestrian at best.

They’re better than us though.
What I took from this game:
Dave in Hoboken : 9/27/2022 10:39 am : link
The Giants are on the right path. But teams like the Cowboys (and Philly) are way ahead of us right now. We'll catch up eventually, but we have a ways to go.

I've been very vocal on the messy pocket point but last night wasn't a good game to support that argument. He continuously stepped up with his eyes down field. Also felt the rush well.

But consistency is one of his biggest problems.

I find Cowherd entertaining, so I guess I m a fan. I also find him really inconsistent at times, so I take his views lightly

I think Jones is growing into the role of playing in a messy pocket. We ll find out by season s end what his future is with Giants

I think Dallas is descending more than ascending..

Philly is ascending with the weapons they have their defense that flies around
