The Giants were more than willing to take on a significant chunk of his salary to move Kenny Golladay before the roster cutdown, to no avail. He’s been available for a while—with the contract making it difficult to trade him.
Might take an injury somewhere to make it happen.
He needs to sit down and shut up.
Honestly, he doesn't deserve to start on NYG which is saying something.
Could the Rams bite?
Their coach can probably get him routes to be somewhat productive and their QB can throw it in tight windows which is what Golladay gives you.
Bold - it adds an additional 4.5 million to our cap to cut him -- that's why it hasn't happened already
Because of the cap implications, plus they've benched him anyway. Serves the same purpose (although using the roster spot sucks).
Another PS WR? didn't we see enough of them last night!
I agree that Daboll and Schoen are handling this correctly. The best players play, regardless of contract or draft status. On that basis, Golladay should sit. Toney needs to get and stay on the field soon or he will be in the same category.
He failed last night. He's probably getting another chance with Shepard out.
The contract thing is a red herring. As discussed in a great detail on many threads, a team acquiring Golladay could have him for as little as a 4.5M cap hit next year, total.
Golladay isn't getting traded because he's no good, not his contraact.
Yup. And fans need to be patient with new front office aligning playmaking talent selection with the coaches. Many of us said from get go there would be a need for a couple years to do it along with interior OL needs and QB questions that need to be addressed.
Given the Golladay, Toney, Shepard slots and questions still at TE, this front office has their work and time needed cut out for them.
Like, Schoen was going to have to physically beat someone up to get them to take Golladay.
Which, ya know, might be the best strategy at this point . . .

Show the team and the league that this team has changed from the Mara enabled Gettleman nightmare. Promote someone off the PS and at least have someone on the field willing to try.

After one year purge, Giants are third best for cap space in 23, second best in 24. I think they will fight tooth and nail to maintain that edge. After LW restructure, they have few options to create the cap space to absorb a $4:5M hit in any case.
Is is possible that Gettleman, O'Brien and Judge were completely clueless fools?
Or lied to the press to make their head-scratching moves look better?
With Shepard gone now, he will be the starter - due to attrition.
Please learn how the cap works.
In order to put him on the practice squad, they'd have to release him first, thus accelerating his remaining bonus money. And if you're going to do that, you might as well leave him released.

I think health might be getting in the way, too.
A potential trade partner might think there has to be a physical issue - not attitude - and they don't want to take on that risk.
If KG is just going through a case of "WR-Ego-Syndrome", you might be able to sell that by coming clean and saying KG just needs a change of scenery and the NYG are just a bad fit. Etc.
Maybe he's got a bad attitude too. But it seems obvious that he just can't play anymore.
I'd like to hear his opinion, especially if he gets traded or released.
