Let's start with the reality that even weith some decent moves, this was never expected to be a top OL this year. It was supposed to be an improvement, which it is, and add depth, which it did.
After last night, it's easy to ask how this is an improvement. But, you are gauging the OL entirely on the ability to protect Jones against one of the better pass rushed in the league with a decent secondary. What is being missed is the run blocking. Barkley had one run for a loss. He is averaging over 4 YPC and cinsiustently making plays in the second half of each game. That is a big improvement.
Think about LG to address depth. Last year, they had no plan other than Lemieux, even when he was hurt. They just penciled him in and went into the season like that. They were scrambling for an able body after game 1. Right now they have Bredeson who is not great, but looking better than last year and they work in their rookie, who may end up being one of the steals of the draft. Glowinski, again, is not great, but playing well in the run game. Neal is the same. He is getting beat outside as a rookie. But, he also shows flashes of his strength and athleticism to think he will improve with coaching. This year was a building block for the next few.
But I will be positive because they only have 3 games together.
The OL may be better at run blocking this year but it really all about how Barkley has changed his running style 2 years removed from his knee surgery.
Band aids from last year that take time to gel again
Neal will take time we HOPE to improve at the NFL speed and faced a huge test last night and failed. You could see how his lack of athleticism could be an issue and/or weight.
Thomas had the same issues in using his hands, head down and leveraging his size for an advantage
Is lemiux good enough and can fill a role? Does Gates ever come back? He was a great FA find with him
Quite frankly, I don't get that.
Because we have dozens of needs and only had 11 draft picks.
Sigh.

He stinks. Feliciano stinks. Bredesen is awful. Still dont understand how we dont draft a center.

I understand fellas but we still paid $18mm to an ex Bill that isn't any good, as well as drafting a gadget WR in the first rd. of 2021 and the 2nd rd of 2022
I would draft o line with the first two picks next year.
Feliciano is a backup C at this point.
