The Giants are faced with a scary situation here. Yet again, they find themselves putting out a subpar offensive line that has Jones running for his life. With their most dependable move the chains 3rd down wr now out for the season and no wr on the roster capable of stretching the field and making the defense respect them, teams will be keying in on Barkley and only Barkley for the remainder of the season.
Outside of Jones' occasional runs there are no threats on the field outside of #26 and I suspect he may be accused of dancing in the backfield again by most as the year proceeds and he attempts to be a one man show for this team.
what’s the point? This is a tear down rebuild. Most of the roster won’t be back next year

Yea i understand. But if you even have plans to maybe trade Saquon mid year wouldn't you want to give him a chance to succeed on the field? They are almost setting him up for failure with the lack of help they have surrounding him moving forward. As pedestrian as Shepard was at this point, he was a reliable chain mover when called upon and Jones was in trouble. The cabinet seems bare now with him down, Golloday washed and Toney and Wandale hurt.
except he's been signed by the Bucs.....what a douche
What we need to do, is deal with Chicago and see where we are at. if we are 3-1 then we can look ahead.
Assuming we are 3-1
Next 3 games are @Gb (London), vs Ravens and @Jaguars. We need to go 1-2 at least here.
Assuming we are now 4-3
Next 3 games are @seattle, vs Texans and vs Lions. We need to go 2-1 or even 3-0 here.
Assume we go 2-1, we would be 6-4
The point of this is then as we move through those next grouping of games needs this year become more likely to be addressed if winning more games is a possibility. BUt, say we lose to Chicago and then lose three straight after that (4 in a row) and are 2-4, I could see this team jettisoning players for picks and parts for the long term.
Sure they can. And probably will.

My wish is BBI ends with this fascination with trading Saquon this year. It's not going to happen, it just simply isn't, for a host of reasons. It's not worth debating, bc why debate something that definitely is not happening. A Saquon trade this year only exists in some BBIers' fantasy land.
And if a playoff-caliber team comes calling to inquire about Barkley, Schoen shouldn't be taking the call?
I hope we are still in it later in the year but this offense is still scary bad. And I look forward to our GM having as much dry-powder going into the next Draft as possible...
