Someone mentioned this on another thread. Tongue in cheek I'm sure, but could we do this?
How does that affect his contract if Golladay refuses to play on specials? Is there a clause protecting him? If he quits, do the Giants have to pay him?
Yeah, let's tell all the players on the team that playing special teams is a punishment. That is perfect for getting players to buy in. Fuckin brilliant.
Why is it that you want to take a guy who has no experience playing special teams and may be disgruntled, and put him on special teams? Is there an advantage to the Giants to weakening the special teams unit?
If putting him special team's doesn't work, maybe we can put him at Safety, or DT?
Anyone suggesting actually putting him on special teams is being silly (intentionally or not).
He can’t beat even bad CBs in this league anymore. His separation is awful, but against LBers he might pose a decent mismatch. Have to get something out of him for all the $ they are shelling out.

Because KG is so invested in his current role?.. Not so much.
He's a detriment to the team. Remove him, by any means necessary IMO.

Yes, remove him by sabotaging the team. Again, brilliant.
The best players will play. Well, that is unless you suck and have a big contract that doesn't allow us to cut you. Therefore we will play that player where he doesn't want to play in hopes he has a hissy fit and violates his contract.

But, and hear me out, if he refuses to play specials? What happens then? Is he in breach of contract?
just out available bodies. He is done and seeing him on teh bench when we had the last drive, needing a score says all that you need to know.
Even worse, Slayton, a cap number that could have been cut during the summer, instead is playing on a reduced salary but provides nothing. We have some seriously shitty players on this roster and it will take some time.
It worries me that we feature Barkley and build the offense with him this year and he more than likely will not be here long term. He is our most tradeable asset righty now and we should use him.
2004 the Giants were 5-4 with Warner at QB and a number of winnable games coming up. We chose to switch to our 1st rd Draft pick Eli Manning and promptly lost the next 6 games before winning the finale vs Dallas at home. Slightly different as we do not have our QB of the future but Barkley being traded with a winning record (or somewhat decent record) would be a true signal we are setting up the future.
How do you think the rest of the players on the team, and any potential free agents will view the coach putting guys on special teams as punishment? You think they will all see that and morale will soar? Guys will want to sign here and play for those coaches?
And what if he just claims to have pulled a hammy and sits instead of throwing a hissy fit and quitting? He is getting paid a shit ton of money. Why would he violate his contract and give up all that money?
It is a terrible idea. There is literally no upside to putting Golladay on special teams.
or to run down the field and tackle the ball carrier? I doubt he could return punts. You need to be able to see the ball, see the oncoming tacklers and know where your blockers are going to be. As for returning kickoffs, these days most kickoffs are out of the end zone.
they think that forcing a player to be on your special teams is a punishment that should make the player refuse to do so and then allow you to cut the player.
this isn't Madden or a youth team.
it was a stupid idea when the first person suggested using Golladay to return punts and the fact someone else doubled down and reposted the same stupid idea makes you even more of a moron - no offense -

What weirdness (to put it mildly) from fans. “Yeah, let’s punish him!” Nonsense.

Oh c'mon...It's an entertaining thought. Everyone and their mother knows we're trying to get rid of KG.
Just having some fun with it.

I actually suggested having him field punts and or kickoffs. He's stealing money at this point.
