Starting lineups for today - 9/27/22 - Marlins at Mets
.

The remaining injury issue to still be concerned with is Marte's. Rumors were that he'd be back for the Braves series, but IMHO I don't see it in the cards. Be that as it may, the Mets are fully capable and SHOULD win these next two games at home vs. the Marlins before another off-day on Thursday. There's no Alcantara this series, so no reason not to take both of these critical games. Here are the starting pitcher matchups for them both:

Here are the Starting pitchers in the Braves @ Nationals matchup going on at just about the same time as the Mets-Marlins game in Queens in about two hours:
Let's go Nats again today (obviously another story next week). Here are some other articles to check out before gametime:

T Willaims sucks. Why not bring MeGill in there or something?
This is play off time.

"T Williams sucks"
Is that a joke?
He's been amazing this season! Best middle relief season since Darren Oliver in 06
Can't count on help.. need to take care of business
This just means we need to take minimum of 2 from Braves and 3 of the 4 from Marlins/Nats
Win tomorrow, then win the last 2 series, and division is locked up.

I hear you, but this one ain't over yet, although it may feel like it.
Braves arent losing to the Nats.
I wouldn’t have given him this one.
That being said…Buck will absolutely run this nut job out there again for another start. And it will be another stinker. Book it.
Braves arent losing to the Nats.
2/3!! It's been my mantra on here for the last 2 months.and that's all it comes down to!!

Yeah, we know. Not that simple.
If this franchise want to change the narrative, then win the fucking division. That’s it. But I’ll believe it when I see it.
They are not winning this division, that’s my opinion.
His decision making has been garbage the last 2 weeks.

Did you really think Williams wasn't going to give up at least 2 runs as soon as he came in the game? If not you are not paying attention.
His decision making has been garbage the last 2 weeks.
I mean why even watch the games.
Reading this thread you'd think it was the Art Howe years..
If they don't win 2 against braves and 3 against Marlins/nats, and the braves win the division, then they deserve it

I said it before - only Lindor has real playoff experience among the hitters (I dont count the 2020 joke playoffs) and it is showing
Throw in Carrasco and Walker with several clunkers between them
And a bullpen with one reliable pitcher just isnt getting it done
This now seems like it will be a learning year of getting pennant race and playoff experience
Let's see how they react tomorrow and in Atlanta. I hope they turn it around but its hard to see it

Have you watched the last two weeks? I’m assuming no; because if you had, you’d know Buck HAS been managing like shit.
🤷🏻♂️
Utterly embarrassing.
They swung and missed on all their moves, also the loss of Marte is really hurting this team.
Bad sign limping into the playoffs.

As usual, you’re talking out of your ass.
Losing these games has nothing to do with lack of playoff experience. They are a team with several weaknesses on offense and it has reared its ugly head at many different points this season.
As you yourself pointed out - walker and cookie have had several clunkers between them. It’s not because of no playoff experience; it’s because they just aren’t very good.
Hard to blame the offense when the pitching puts them in such a huge hole early in games.

Naquin and vogelbach have been Ok. Ruf and givens, not so much

And why doesn’t 2020 count? Because it fucks with your narrative?
Playoff baseball is playoff baseball; it doesn’t matter if there were 60 or 160 games to get there, the pressure of win-or-go-home is the same.
PS - Pete, Escobar, McNeil and vogelbach have “no playoff experience” and look at their September numbers. He LLP, even nido has very good September numbers.
But don’t let facts get in the way of your bullshit narrative.

That's called choking. We said a few weeks ago it seems the front office and manager are playing it like they were content to be the wild card

They are better than most 4/5 starters in baseball. And you were saying in August that Carrasco could be the 3rd playoff starter!
Lack of experience is definitely a factor in the hitting and in losing games to bad teams this month. Why do you think teams in all sports trade for veterans with playoff experience at trading deadlines?
I hope they all get terminal ingrown toenails and have to have their f--king toenails pulled off. The motherf--kers.
Right, you're right. I didn't realize that😁

And winning the division gets you a bye, it's a huge advantage. Winning the division also gets you out of the Dodgers bracket, another huge advantage

It is a big deal
Left with playing out a best of the final 7 games now.
Probably would have been better to skip Carrasco since he is likely going to pen in postseason any way.
But hindsight is always 20/20. That said Trevor Williams has been hit last couple of outings. Buck needed to go earlier to his top guys in the pen. They are all rested with the off days.

The Mets 2022 minor league season is over.
-3 of 5 stateside affiliates made playoffs with 1 title
- multiple top prospects made MLB debut
- Francisco Álvarez ascended to be one of the top prospects in baseball
- Strong draft helped catapult farm to top 10 system

Here’s how Mets top prospect Francisco Álvarez did in 2022 between Double-A and Triple-A in 112 games:
.260/.374/.511, 22 2B, 27 HR, 78 RBI
The 20-year-old finished the season strong with a 1.079 OPS in September.

With Triple-A Syracuse ending its season today, the Mets are bringing some players back to New York. Dominic Smith, Deven Marrero, Álex Claudio and Stephen Nogosek all have lockers in New York.
No roster moves right now, but it behooves the team to keep some extra guys fresh.
Sandy still trying to valorize the McCann trade. Makes me wonder if Kyle was one of those who pushed to sign McCann
Incredible how they suck vs bad teams. At home no less!
